Okay so Lux wouldn't kill Kat if she thought she was in danger from him she would probably just try to stop him without killing him. But what if he was assigned to kill her brother and she was there when he came to try?
// Thatâs a difficult thought, sheâd want to protect both of them in that case. Sheâd still be unable to kill Kat I think but sheâd probably be able to at least hurt him in that case. Not that sheâd want to? She wouldnât want to hurt him but I think if it came down to it sheâd do what she could to protect Garen. Itâd break something in her though, I think? To have to chose between the two, unlike Kat she cares deeply for her family and him. So itâs much more difficult for her to chose between the two. Still I think in the end sheâd do what she could to help Garen, even going so far as making a deal with Kat if she could. It would be really hard for her though, very rough on her, and I donât think sheâd be the same on the other side of it.Â

Lux inclined her head gently. âThat would be most helpful, thank you. I do understand itâll be difficult to learn but I would very much like to try.â A frown crossed her features at the talk of the basement, something told her she absolutely would not like it down there at all. Something about the way he spoke about it, she pushed herself gently to her feet when he spoke and motioned her to follow.
âAh, I donât think Iâm brave enough right now to ask about your deeds dealing with, well, you know. If only because Iâm not sure I have the stomach for it right now.â Her smile while genuine was small as she followed after him. âCould you tell me about before? What did the isles look like before they became like this? They were said to be lovely, Iâm going to assume that theyâve changed drastically. Despite still being lovely.â
âIâm fine with sitting on the floor by the way. Or making a nest of pillows and blankets on the floor. It doesnât bother me over much to sit on the floor. Despite how much it scandalizes my mother. Iâm not sure why sheâs so against the floor, Iâll be honest. That way you donât have to go terribly out of your way. I donât want to be an inconvenience or bother.â She said, softly, picking up her pace to stick close to his side as he walked. Not wanting to get lost in his home, for many reasons.

Chasing monsters, itâs not her typical job, not like this, but itâs what sheâs doing. Deep in the forests of Ionia, well off the beaten path, where magic is the only thing that guides her. This is not the typical type of hunting, not tracking of monsters but it is her, and it is how she does it.
Lux is shocked to come across another person, if only because they are so deep into the wilderness she canât imagine how he got here. He looks alone, and haggard, tired, sad and maybe like he could use more than a little kindness in his life. It pulls her up short as she looks him over, a smile drawing to her features almost instinctually.
Despite where they are, and despite his look his voice is smooth, calm like the wind, and even. His words are kind, if a bit confused. She canât help but get the feeling that he is alone, more alone than sheâs ever been. The urge to kiss his cheek, to place upon him some sort of affection is ridiculous, but she does it anyway.
The kiss to his cheek is gentle, and he smells like the wilderness, a wild musk about him. If he was confused before she can only imagine he must be beside himself now. The look heâs giving her says sheâs correct in her thoughts, but his assessment amuses her. Her laughter bounces off the trees, bright and light and she has to stifle it quickly.
âIâm sorry, you just looked, like you could use some affection. There is nothing wrong, I donât feel, with kissing a man that bathes in rivers. Should there be? Your way of life explains some things though, why you looked so alone for one.â Her tone is soft, sweet, as she leans back to look at him with a warm smile.
âI am, hunting, something.â Lux looks pensive for a moment before she shrugs gently. âIâm chasing a creature, not my typical job but I couldnât turn away the village that asked. Itâs out of my way, but itâs the right thing to do. They need help, and no one else is willing. Iâm likely just a weird one, I get that a lot.â She gives a shrug and another smile before glancing around the forest for a moment.
âKindness is the first thing you should show everyone, especially those that look like they need it. You looked like you needed it. Tis a strange place to meet someone, can I ask your name stranger? And what you are doing here? Iâm Lux, by the way. Luxanna Crownguard.â It seems silly to hold out her hand now, but she does anyway. A handshake is a far step down from a cheek kiss but that isnât what matters.
She didnât need a protector or a rescuer. But she did need him.
Alexandra Bracken, Passenger (via the-book-diaries)
No, she really just wanted his company. She wanted to hear him say that he liked her for who she was. That she was someone special in his world and in his life. She wanted him to give her some gesture of love, not just of friendship and companionship.
Stieg Larsson, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
I want to fill my mouth with your name.
Pablo Neruda, Twenty Love Poems and Song of Despair (via the-book-diaries)
Lux is startled, more so than her horse which seems soothed by the paw on his nose. Or was it a hand, or was it both? The last thing she had been expecting was a large bi-pedal black jackal to drop from the rocks above her. Yep, that was definitely the last thing sheâd been expecting. Possibly, probably, very likely, if she thought about it maybe she could think of something more radically out of the ordinary but then again perhaps not.
It wasnât that Lux hadnât heard of the ascended, because she had, to some degree, sheâd just never expected to actually meet one. That was what he was right? She was assuming a lot here, but he was kind and she supposed thatâs what mattered. He wasnât trying to eat her, and she could return kindness with such. She was good at that after all, even if she was somewhere between confused and interested.
âAh, yes it does seem quite angry right now. A shame considering, I need it to act right for me.â Her smile is gentle, warm as she looks up at him shielding her eyes in the process. âA pleasure to meet you, a divine intervention on your part, Iâm Lux, Luxanna Crownguard, and you are?â Lux asks, holding out her hand towards him with a smile still on her face. She doesnât seem terribly shocked by him, no more than would be normal she supposes. At least sheâs trying, and she really is trying. Though a part of her really wants to lean up and pet his ears, she assumes that is considered rude though and thus refrains.
âA guide back to the city and shelter would be a true blessing, thank you very much.â
A Unfortunate Turn at a Light
Lux tilted her head at the question before smiling once more. âOf course, Iâm a Crownguard!â She said, a little amused but let it go when Fiora dismissed the question. âFair, I am terrible with names most times Fiora. I travel too many places and see too many flowers to remember the names of them all Iâm afraid. However, at least I knew what it looked like.â Lux pointed out with a small smile.
âYou paint? Thatâs very exciting, it also sounds very relaxing, tending to your garden too. I have one of those, with many flowers. Itâs my personal garden so I do understand your love of gardening.â Her nose crinkled slightly at Fioraâs question. Pretty dresses and boys, now that was a thought wasnât it? Itâs something her mother wished she enjoyed to be sure, but Lux was a little busy for such things wasnât she?
âI donât mind telling you, but I donât think they are all that interesting.â Lux said, trying to decide what exactly she should say. She couldnât tell Fiora everything of course, magic, her work with the illuminators, none of that would be allowed to come to light. However, she had other passions right, other things she loved to do?
âI like riding, Starfire is a dear friend and I feel the freest I think when he and I are full speed through the trees or across a field. It feels like flying you know? Heâs fast, so fast. I donât particularly care for pretty dresses and boys no, but I do like travel. My trips to Ionia are some of my favorite. Itâs such a beautiful place and the people there are so kind.â Lux paused for a moment as if thinking something over.
âItâs wild there, free. I do like to dance too, there are so many different sorts of dance and each express a different emotion. I also collect things, just various little items, wind chimes, snow globes, you know silly stuff.â Lux gave her a bright smile, sheâd like to tell her the truth. That she loved traveling all over, even to Noxus, that magic was amazing, and she loved the feel of it. That there were so many interesting people sheâd met in her time out and about. That wouldnât do though, sheâd only get herself in trouble.
âTold you, not terribly interesting I fear.â
I watched those little dull eyes, lit up with the softest touch, with the smallest smile. And all I could think was, what a beautiful life it would be, to spend my life looking at the world through those little dull eyes.
Lukas W. // Little dull eyes
âI mean you can still show me around if you like? Iâve just been around Piltover quite a few times before. There is a shoe shop that I absolutely adore around here.â Her smile is bright when she glances over at him, but it quickly falters at his assumption. While itâs not a wholly incorrect assumption, she can see how he got it, itâs wildly ludicrous.
She canât help but laugh at the idea. Ezreal is a good guy, a great guy even, but they are incompatible for many reasons. Least of all is the fact that both have jobs that take them all over the place at all times. It meant they rarely got to see each other as friends, let along anything more than that. But he was, in fact, a very dear friend, and he always would be.
âWell, thatâs something I havenât heard in a long while. My boyfriend? You think Iâm dating the one and only Ezreal?â Lux tilts her head gently before looking back at him curiously. âHeâs a very dear friend, but Iâm afraid I donât have time for romance, Iâm single and itâs with good reason. Iâm too busy to dedicate any actual time to a partner, not the sort of time they deserve anyway. Plus, Iâm Demacian nobility, so you know how that goes.â She waved her hand dismissively, thankfully sheâd managed to wiggle out of most things having to deal with being a Demacian lady thanks to her job. There were times though, where it still followed her around.
âWhat about you? Lady waiting for you at home?â
âWhy do you find it unsatisfactory? Anything I could help better explain? I donât mind.â She glances up his front at him for a moment before looking back at his pants which are not in fact pants. Lux leans down a bit more, her fingers hovering over his hip area before very lightly brushing along the hard textures. Itâs a strange feeling, sheâd not expect it to be this firm or rough.
âLike various insect species? Or, a turtle?â Lux sounds amused as she runs her fingers along it, highly interested in this turn of events. âSo, you have a hard-outer shell typically? Does it come off at your whimsy? Is that why youâre missing the top part? Or is that half of you always exposed? As an archer it would make sense to some degree I suppose. Still Iâd think in battle youâd want something to protect your top half. Perhaps not though, if they donât get close enough to harm you.â
Lux leans back for a moment, rocking on the balls of her feet as she thinks this new development over. Heâs naked, sort of, but more interesting than that is he has something like an exoskeleton. Heâs a huminod species with a carapace, which is fascinating.
âAre infants born with one as well? Or do they get theirs over time? Does it grow with you or do you have to shed it?â Lux looks up at him suddenly, her eyes alight with keen interest.
You donât love someone because theyâre perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that theyâre not.

âOh! Okay, but hurry up!â Lux called her smile brightening even more at the idea of a gift and the strays. Riven had taken well to the strays in the area, and they to her. She always stopped to feed them and had become the cat whisper in no time at all. They really seemed to enjoy her company. It had been surprising at first, that they werenât scared of her, considering what Riven was.
Lux pulled her head back inside the window and pranced towards her small kitchen. Sheâd gone ahead and made some little snacks for the two of them. Lux wasnât the very best cook, but she did try, and sheâd picked up on it pretty well. With a lot of help from Janna whom had the patience of a saint when it came to pretty much anything.
Sheâd taught Lux how to make plenty of neat little snacks, and larger meals. Things that were quick and easy but high in protein and other essentials. That way Lux always had plenty of energy and didnât have to spend a long time making food. It had become an eternal blessing when Riven had shown up. Even more so when things had gotten a little more serious between the two of them.
Lux squeaked, biting her lower lip as she carried the platters of snacks and bowl of chips into the little living area placing them down on her small coffee table. It was strange to think about, but Lux tried not to worry about it over much. Things would take their course and Lux would do her best to let them.
Though the moment Riven entered the apartment Lux was by her side wrapping her arms around the other womanâs shoulders in a hug. Even if she did have to stand on her tip toes to do so.
âI missed you, whatâd you get me?â
I told her once I wasnât good at anything. She told me survival is a talent.
Susanna Kaysen, Girl, Interrupted
A Void
The purr did help to soothe her, causing her to tuck a little closer to Riven. The idea that Riven had traveled to different worlds entirely was fascinating and had Lux looking at the little portal with interest. The image that flashed through it made her tilt her head, eyes lighting up with wonder at the thought. It looked beautiful, the deep violet of the leaves a color sheâd never seen before. At the thought of going there she couldnât help the smile that curled her lips as she glanced at Riven.
âI would love that, one day, when we arenât busy we should go.â She bumped her shoulder against Rivenâs but sobered as the other continued. âThat will be very helpful.â Luxâs tone was soft as she glanced away for a moment lost in thought.
She still wasnât sure she liked the idea that someone here could be making the portals, let alone someone in Demacia. Who would do that, why would they do that? Demacia was against magic, and it was very clearly magic that opened these portals. Someone, assuming it was someone, was in for a world of trouble if they were found out. Couldnât they see that they were hurting innocent people?
âYou should stay, at least until we can figure out what is going on. Iâll have the maids set you up a darker room and it can be yours to come and go from as you please. At least until we figure out what is going on with this portal nonsense. This is near the fifth one thatâs opened up around here. Close to my home no less, I really hope no one is doing this.â Lux sounded tired as she flopped back to lay out, just staring up at the ceiling.
âIâm sorry about all this Riven.â
She is in love. It is bright within her, like a swallowed star.
