forgive the version of you that didn’t know any better
hearing the girl you like calling you baby in a soft voice is like having your heart fall down 7 flights of stairs and exploding
Lately ive really been going through it. And I’m not sure why I feel the urge to write this and share it on tumblr (kinda embarrassing) but here it goes. Recently I’ve been really struggling with who I am and what I’m about. I think it kinda comes from the fact that I used to be so positive and eager to grow, but I don’t feel like that as much anymore. I think the more I experience as I grow up caused me to lose the innocence I used to cling so closely to. And let me tell you, that can fuck a person up. I think I’m living proof of that. It’s really fucking hard to be able to forgive myself for making mistakes or making those decisions I’m not proud of, I feel corrupted. I’m trying so hard to learn how to forgive myself, embrace mistakes I’ve made and grow from them. It’s not easy and I’ll be the first to admit how fucking hard it can be. Especially when you feel alone. Since I’ve joined the Navy its just been me on my own. And let me also tell you, going from living at home and having my family within arms reach to being in the military where I’m away from everything familiar isn’t exactly easy for me. My family was my support system so Ive been having to learn how to adapt and become that for myself. And I cant stress the importance of making decisions and acting in a way that is true to your morals and beliefs. I know what is right for me and what my morals are. But I’ve been straying from those just slightly but it really messes with my mental and emotional well being. So please, do the things that you know are right for yourself even when its not easy, because I’ve witnessed first hand the effect its had on me. I dont want to see anyone else feel like that. But anyway, I think the point im really wanting to make through writing this is that you have got to forgive and love yourself relentlessly. Especially when you’re out on your own. Because its really fucking hard to feel alone and not feel complete within yourself. I need to take my own advice and work hard on forgiving myself and loving the things about myself I might not love all the time. And especially staying true to that person that I know I am.
So I guess that’s all I have to say, and if youre feeling alone upset, just know that you aren’t the only one out there going through it. And if you need a friend, Im willing to listen because I know how hard shit can be sometimes.

“If you knew how hard it was, and how long it took, to rebuild my little universe of peace and happiness then you would understand why I’m so picky about who I allow in my life.”

as you get older, you realize that you’re not always right and there’s so many things you could’ve handled better, so many situations where you could’ve been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.
My New Years resolution is to stop wondering if I’m good enough for other people and start wondering if they’re good enough for me.
