It’s an interesting moral dilemma, isn't it? I can totally understand the argument that there are some lines that shouldn't be crossed, but...
I think — protecting the life of one villain at the expense of ten, twenty, or a hundred innocent, law-abiding citizens is indefensible. If that rule repeatedly fails to protect innocent lives because dangerous criminals are permitted to keep harming others, the net result is simply causing a much larger loss of life in the long run. Real justice should focus on maximizing safety and peace for the majority, shouldn't it? A truly effective system does what is necessary to produce the best outcome for the entire world.
I think I've said too much.
