also watching lazarus rising this time around reminded me just how insane cas’ entrance is in the context of the show like.....obviously i’ve always loved the entrance but nothing literally NOTHING like that had ever happened on the show before lmfao no one’s introduction had been given so much attention and fanfare. i get that it’s bc cas was also introducing the whole concept of angels being real at all but come ON how did they expect us to see misha’s cheekbones lit up with sparks like that and NOT immediately imprint on him specifically

if cas’ true happiness is just to tell dean that he loves him, just to be and just to say it, then why doesn’t he? why does he start with “i know how you see yourself. you see yourself the same way our enemies see you. you’re destructive and you’re angry and you’re broken you’re - youre daddy’s blunt instrument. and you think that hate, and anger, that’s what drives you. that’s who you are. it’s not. and everyone who knows you sees it.”

cas isn’t just telling dean he loves him. cas isn’t ready to die until he’s sure that dean can love himself.
