Wiping his brow with the collar of his shirt, Takao paused on the side of the court to catch his breath. It’d been far too long since the last time he’d pushed himself this far on the court, but he was getting such an adrenaline rush from it all, he just couldn’t stop. He dribbled the ball a few times in place before he took off for the net once more, stopping right outside the three-point line to take a shot. The ball bounced harshly against the backboard, however, and started rolling along the side of the gym.
"Hey!" he shouted across the court.
"A little help here?"
One... two... three... four... five...
Counting silently in his head, Noya tapped the volleyball repeatedly up against the wall with the sides of his hands, saving it moments before it hit the floor every time it fell. He was practicing... in theory. It was much harder to do this when practicing without a partner. He felt almost silly standing alone in the corner of the gym, attempting to save a ball spiked from an imaginary opponent. Almost. After all, practice was practice and Noya wasn't one to complain at the opportunity.
He startled slightly at the sound of a man's voice, shouting to him from across the gym. Fumbling the ball, Noya caught it in his palm just before it fell and tucked it under his arm as he turned to look for the source of the voice. It was a young man about his own age, waving over at him with a grin on his lips. Ah. He'd lost his basketball. "Sure thing, man!" Noya said with a friendly smile, hoisting the basketball off the ground with a little difficulty - it was a lot larger and heavier than he was used to - and tossing it back over to the dark haired male.
Haikyuu!! 30 day challenge
↳ Day 1: Favorite character → (1/2) Nishinoya Yuu (西谷夕)
This school is boooring. There's nothing for him to do and no one exciting around. Maybe if he could play some volleyball, everything would be cool but he hadn't even met any players yet. This is so lame.
Never fear, Noya-san is here.
