Jazz, in his alt mode, watches as the humans walk into the building, known as a community center, debating whether he should even be doing this. One night while driving, he heard music coming from the community center, and for the past three human weeks, he has been returning to listen from outside. But now he was going to try chatting with humans. He loves everything about them, and he knows it was dangerous, but he had everything planned out. His holoform was quite impressive, he hid the creepy bright blue eyes with shades which other bot learned sacred humans. Stepping out of his alt mode in his holoform, he heads into the community center excited to mingle with humans.
Watching the people shuffle in to listen to jazz, funk, soul, and disco made you incredibly happy. You started this little meet-up to share your love of older music and get much-needed social interaction outside of work. You finished setting up your vinyl player, attaching it to a speaker at the front of the room, near some snacks others brought to share.
“That's a new face?” Mrs. Park says, pointing to a man walking into the room, seemingly taking everything in. He looked closer to your age than everyone else in the room, where most of the attendees were seniors who enjoyed this meet-up.
“Quite a nice looking man,” Ms. Joy chimes in, giggling. “Let's hope he is not with anyone!” Before Ms. Joy could begin her cougar technique. Mrs. Park grabs Ms. Joy and yanks her over to their table, which they claimed. You sign and decide to walk over to the new guy to welcome him.
“Hi! Welcome to the little oldies meet-up. What brings you in?” A human female walks over to him. You wore a small smile, seeming a little nervous about him.
“Just heard the music when driving past a week ago and wanted to know what it's all about!” Jazz replies. You nod, accepting that answer.
“I hope you have a great time. Let me know if you need anything or want to be introduced to anyone,” You began to walk away as if you thought the conversation was over, but Jazz grabbed your hand. Wanting to keep talking to you.
“Sweetheart, you can't leave a new guest by themselves. That's not very polite.” Your face seems to grow red at the contact and the comment.
“Right. Sorry. Do you want to see my vinyl player?” You ask, pointing to the front of the room. “And could you maybe let go of my hand?”
“Sure thing, Sweetheart,” Jazz grins. He doesn't understand why, but he wants to spend more time with you.
You led the new guy to the front of the room.
“I got this vinyl player from my parents when I graduated high school. I have always enjoyed jazz, funk, soul, disco, and other older music,” you say as you pull out an album by Kool & the Gang. “This is one of my first albums I bought!”
“That is awesome, Sweetheart!” he smiles at you, but with those shades he is wearing, you can’t tell what his eyes are actually saying. What if he is bored. Your grip tightens on the album. “Would you mind playing it for me?”
“Uh, sure!” You agreed and placed it on the vinyl player. The music fills the room mixing with the chatter. You look at him as takes in the music.
“You have great taste! Sweetheart!” He says. You feel your face grow even redder and you hope it not to noticeable. Maybe you can claim it allergies.
“Stop flirting and introduce us to the new fella!” A old lady came up next to you. She look Jazz up and down making him feel like prey.
“Oh um. Is this is…,” Your eye seems to widen in horror. “What is your name?”
“You can call me Jazz, Sweetheart, what your name, unless you want me to call you by your Sweetheart ?” Jazz listen as you as quietly tell him your name which he stored into somthing imporant to remeber. The old lady coughs as she wants the attation back on her.
“Well my name is Joy but you can call me Sugar!” she moves close to Jazz making him start to move away from her and closer to you.
“Ms. Joy I think you might be making Jazz uncomfortable,” you state as you nervously move in front of him to stop Ms Joy from coming closer. She grumbled something before giving up and walking back to a table. Where another human started to lecture her.
“Sorry about her,” you quietly say looking at him. Realizing you are super close to him now. “If you feel uncomfortable you can leave.”
He tilts his head as he looks at you.
“No, I'm okay. Might just stick close to you tonight sweetheart,” you nod as he smiles.
The rest of the night you talked to Jazz about music and anything that came to you. Part of you felt like you had butterflies in your stomach the whole time. Soon the meeting ended. Jazz helped you take you stuff out to your car which you really appreciated.
“Thank you for the help!” You cheerfully said as you closed the car truck door. “I feel bad asking the others to help since I worried I might be a bother,”
“No problem. I am happy to spend time with you! He was happy he made sure he could hold things in hologram form. Especially if it meant receiving praise from you.
“So where is your ride home?” You ask looking around the parking lot that is almost deserted.
“Over there,” he points to his alt mode. He watches as your eyes seem to widen in surprise and amazement. You quickly walk over to him leaving his holo form behind.
“You have a Porsche!!!” You ask looking back at his holo form then back at the real him. “It looks so well taken care of. Can I see the interior?”
Jazz felt his frame heating up at the question. Knowing you meant nothing like what his mind immediately imagined.
“Maybe another time sweetheart, I need to do some cleaning in there.” He said as you seem to look a little disappointed. “But I promise to take you for a ride.”
Your face felt red and warm all over again when he said, sounding like he was suggesting something else.
“Okay! Will I see you next week?” You ask.
“Of course. Wouldn’t miss it for the world!” His smile makes you feel even more warm inside. You walk back to your car as he gets in his. You gave him one more wave goodbye before turning your car on and driving away. Hoping this week will fly by so you can see him again.
