Backstory: I am hella allergic to cashews. Just a tiny bit and Iām destined for a trip to the Emergency Room
So I was at Publix a couple of days ago looking at the ice cream and I saw a carton of cashew milk ice cream. My initial thought was āWell, theyāve ruined ice cream.ā
I donāt have any issues with lactose, never have. I can eat all the regular ice cream I want (mild blood sugar issue aside). But not everyone has that opportunity. Some people canāt eat dairy or donāt like it or whatever the case may be. Now, with the cashew milk ice cream, those people can eat ice cream. I am in no way required to buy or eat the cashew milk ice cream, or any ice cream for that matter. The fact that cashew milk ice cream exists affects me only insofar as I need to read the label to make sure Iām not buying it.
My dad thinks that gay marriage āruinsā his marriage to my mom. But gay marriage affects him and me, a straight unmarried person, in the same way that cashew milk ice cream affects me. In fact, it doesnāt affect him at all, heās already bought his ice cream. And all Iāve gotta do is make sure Iām not marrying a gay person or buying cashew milk ice cream.
Now, a LGBT person can enjoy a marriage and a lactose intolerant person can enjoy some ice cream.
