This brings to mind something I discovered a few years ago. A flower grows and thrives not because it is told to, but because that is what it knows it must do. It must survive in order to live. It lives and dies in a brilliant flash of colour, of growth, of no opportunity lost. Now, humans... we live because we are told we MUST. We are told that thriving is the only way. What if we weren't told we needed to thrive? Would we be a better species, better as individuals and a whole? To be brilliant and wondrous, do we need to stop telling ourselves that we need to live in order to survive, that we should instead survive in order to live?
