Highlights!
-Confirmed continued development on the first and second Guild Wars
-Reforged moving to mobile devices
-New content coming to 2 after VoE includes a new open world Orr map, a Hall of Monuments system, and WvW borderland, as well as updates to older content like the Zhaitan fight
There's still a lot of missing information but the plan to not just keep the game running, but add a new Orr map, continue balance patches, and go back for bug fixing, polish, and even potentially significantly updating old content sounds to me like best case scenario.
I put a few thoughts on the new forum sections about adjusting dungeon story modes to scale down and be soloable under-leveled and under-geared, using them as a space to teach new players mechanics rather than being a stat check. My dream would be clearer tutorials that are more accessible through a companion npc or a constantly available menu so players can learn about boons, combos, stealth, and so on before they even reach max level. A future update to the end of Icebrood Saga is pie in the sky, but if we're dreaming, I would be very happy to see done for the game's final finished state.
It sounds like there aren't other gw2 expansions planned and that suits me fine. I still haven't bought VoE and didn't feel discontented without new maps or story over the last year. Whether I buy VoE on sale now or continue to wait for it to be fully finished, I'm not sure.
I don't feel hype (the new trailer was not interesting to me), but I also don't feel fatalistic at the moment. Expressing multiple times that they understand these games are player's homes was reassuring. How they follow through on these plans may fall short of ideal, but from these few announcements it sounds like an acceptable approach to a change we all new would come eventually.
Not specified in the video, but there are possibly new GW2 expacs planned, only some time after the release of GW3; screenshot from the official discord:
