I think the Malloy show that's probably best suited for a film adaptation would be Preludes honestly. I can't really speak for any elements the staged production would have had in terms of lighting/set design/etc. (I'm sure Hypnosis has something weird going on), but to the best of my knowledge everything sounds like it was played pretty straight. And then you get a full plot that's easier for people to follow, which I think would ultimately get audiences that are unfamiliar with his work to be more inclined to view his other stuff

The way Preludes starts and ends with the 2nd Piano Concerto. You start with the knowledge that, despite everything, Rach will be okay. Then you finally arrive there at the end of the show.
