He paused in his writing when she brought up his twin, the very thought of turning into him kind of terrifying. It was sort of who he was before everything had happened with his mom but he still had that rebellious streak that Dom could never touch, right? As his fingers lingered over the keys of his computer he listened to Lila try to play this off, try to make it seem as if he wasnât the guy she knew. And she was right. They had met before his sudden personality change but the schoolwork hadnât been his main priority then either. He got it done, yes, but with him now trying to catch up with all of his classes it seemed like that was all he did anymore.
âIâm not Dominic. You know how to tell us apart, stop pretending that you donât.â His head turned so that he could look at her, watching carefully while took in another breath of the smoke, and for a split second he considered forgetting about the paper. This was why heâd been worried about her bringing in weed again in the first place. Even going to therapy wasnât making all of his issues go away overnight. He still held a lot of anger towards his parents for lying to him and making him feel like there was this dark family secret hanging over his head. But he was slowly learning to let it go as he spoke about it more and more with a complete stranger so maybe Lila needed the same thing. Maybe she needed saving and he couldnât be the one to do that for her. âLi, theyâre going to cut me off. Do you understand that? No more fancy apartment, no more free weed from me, no more fridge full of food, nothing. We will have the clothes on our back and whatever we can carry out of here. Do you not get that Iâm doing this for you too?âÂ
Rolling his eyes as she started laughing hysterically, the boy turned back to his computer and did his best to concentrate. âIâm not saying it wasnât funny. And Iâm not saying Iâm completely done with alcohol at least but this paper is important. Just let me get through this semester and things will start to feel normal again. But for godâs sake, put that fucking shit out and let me concentrate, dammit!â
.
She could tell she had struck a nerve with the Dominic quip, but if he wasnât acting like Damien, then who was he acting like? She had never seen such a serious side before, except whenever Jossilyn had been brought up, which Lila had quickly learned not to do early on in the relationship. Of course, that was fine by her. She had hated Daeâs ex, and always held a lingering fear that one day the girl would one day come back. Did that make Lila seem desperate? Probably. After all, Damien had been the one person in life, she had truly connected with. But now that all seemed to be fading away. And somewhere deep inside, she seemed to blame herself. Was this going to be someone else who she had pushed away, âOooooooo. Did I strike a nerve with the Dominic comment? Because it sounds like I struck a nerve.â She narrowed her eyes and took another hit.
Somewhere deep inside she knew he was right. Her mother had cut her off long ago. In fact, she hadnât even called for the holidays, which meant if Lila was lying dead in a ditch, Victoria probably wouldnât care, until she knew she could gain pity and sympathy from the people she assumed liked her not for her money, but for her personality instead, âYeah, I get it okay. Youâre not the only person with rich parents.â She rolled her eyes letting the remainder of the fog out of her lungs. He was already starting to grate on her nerves, but she was going to let it go. Just make like Elsa and let.it.go. That was, until she heard him snap at her.
Smile fading and eyes turning to slits, she glared at Damien, âWow, youâre really starting to turn into a dick you know that? Sober is definitely not flattering on you.â Lila put the joint back to her lips and inhaled it before slowly forcing herself off the couch. Stumbling towards him, she got right behind the man and blew smoke at the back of his head, âMaybe a fucking contact high could do you some good.â Coughing softly, she turned around and walked back towards the coffee table and grabbed her phone. If Damien was going to be a dick, she was going in the other room.
damien--fordâ:
âLila, can you turn that shit down?â It was late. Damien had been writing this final paper for hours and he still had six pages to go with it due the next day and Lila was not helping things as he burned the midnight oil. Ever since the ultimatum given by his parents Damien had done everything in his power to stay on their good side because he knew he wouldnât be able to make it in life if they cut his ass off. He could try, yea, but he and Lila were so used to having their money that he wasnât sure they would make it on their own. This was as much for her as it was for him.Â
But the music was distracting and the stench of the weed she had in hand seemed to call to him. This paper was going downhill and fast and if he didnât do something soon he would fail it and the class altogether. âAnd please get rid of that shit. I canât smell it right now.â He felt bad, yes, they were used to a certain lifestyle at this point but now that he was actually trying in life Damien feltâŚdifferent.Â
He liked knowing his purpose and working towards what he wanted. He liked not living in a filthy room and getting along with his brother again. And, god help him, he loved being sober for most of his life as opposed to being blitzed out of his mind on a constant basis. He just wished that Lila could see it was time to grow up as well. âArenât you tired of that crap anyway? I feel like youâve been high for a week straight at this point.â
.
Ever since Damien had gone back to being straightedge, he just didnât seem that fun anymore. She had begged him to join her. To spend time with her. One joint. That was it, but after a while she sounded like a broken record. And even to her, it got annoying. So instead of waiting on him, she decided to keep doing things her own way. Unfortunately, her way didnât seem to fit his new lifestyle, and in many ways, it hurt. Since they had first met years ago, he had been the one that had saved her. Kept her moving forward, if not at a sloths pace, but not giving up and pulling away, but he was different. He was like...Dominic, and she couldnât fucking stand Dominic.
With âSanteriaâ blasting in the background, she inhaled the smoke from the rolled up blunt between her fingers, letting it linger in her lungs just enough to feel the burn, before letting the smoke seep out of her nose and through her lips. It was his voice that somehow emerged from the fog she was in that sent her attention in his direction, âGod, do you even know how much you sound like your brother right now? Itâs sort of horrifying. Are you sure youâre not Dominic, and Iâm on Punkâd right now?â Lila leaned forward and looked around the room for the cameras, âDamien. Come out, you fucker. This isnât funny.â A stupid laugh escaped her lips, before she took another deep inhale from the joint.
Leaning back into the couch, she closed her eyes and blew out the smoke once more, âTired of this crap? No. And you didnât seem to be tired of it either a couple of weeks ago. If I recall, you were all kinds of giddy when I brought home that stupid ass looking bong that looked like a...dong.â She paused for a moment before laughing so hard tears were rolling down her cheeks. Everything was hilarious when Lila was high. It meant that life was easier, and she didnât have to think about the real problems in her life. And that was something she valued, even if it meant wasting her life away.

âAlways so fucking hostile, baby girl.â Damianâs fingernails dug into her waist when her hand ran over his crotch, his fingers pushing the fabric of her tshirt up before dragging his nails down her sides to the waistband of her jeans. He ate up the kiss she initiated, teeth dragging across her bottom lip before his hands go to hook around the bottom of her thighs so he can pull her up to straddle his waist. âWhy do I find that so damn sexy?â The question gave him enough time to slowly lift the tshirt over head before tossing it to the side and allowing his hands to travel down the length of her torso, thumb brushing over the lace of her bra.Â
Since the day she had first laid eyes on Damien, she felt something deep inside of her that only she knew he could give her. While rage and hate had filled the outer most layers of her body, deeper down, Lila had just wanted to be loved and appreciated, and in this moment, she was getting what she had wanted, âWell you canât tame a tiger, now can you...â Letting him take over, she embraced every moment his fingers and lips touched her body. They were both in for a long night, and she was going to be present for every bit of it as she felt Damien lay his hands all across her, and when morning would come, Lila would snuggle in close and embrace that rare moment of vulnerability that she would allow him to see, just before life got back to ânormalâ (whatever the fuck that meant) between the two of them.
dominic--fordâ:
âOnly God knows why the fuck he fell in love with you. SeriouslyâŚyou some kind of witch or some shit?â Dom narrowed his eyes at the blonde before he watched her slide the book towards her, resisting the urge to snatch it out of her damn hands. âItâs business lawâŚaka, a subject youâll never understand. So I will take thatâŚâ He reaches over and plucks the textbook from her hands. In truth, he was even having a hard time understanding the shit in the text but it was something he had to know for the degree he was going after. Heâd have much rather been reading up on molecular biology but his father had his heart set on one of his children taking over the business and Dae was never going to take that bullet. âActually what the hell do you even study in school? How to work a street corner and slap any hoes that try to work your turf?â
Lila shook her head. She still wasnât sure how Damien had a twin. Dominic was like the spawn of Satan. He was pure evil in a suit, and she could see why Damien despised the man. The words he spat towards her were beginning to get annoying. He hissed them out with such spite and venom in his voice that she wanted to throw the law book upside his perfectly groomed head. Letting go of the bracelet she was chewing on, Lila straightened up in her chair, âSee, Dominic, the reason he fell in love with me, is because, unlike you, he has a heart to love with. An open heart actually. Not one thatâs so closed off itâs inverted on itself and remains to be seen.â
Looking at the book he had freshly plucked out of her hands like the douche he was, she grinned, âOh, the boring member of the law family. Excuse me while my eyes roll into the back of my head.â She snorted, âBut hey, you know what? If anyone in the Ford family was going to study mercantile law, it would be you. I can already imagine you strutting tightly around the courtroom with a stick the size of a great redwood pine shoved so far up your ass you blow smoke when you talk. Better watch out though...I hear that hair gel you wear is flammable.â
She was done taking his bullshit. Pushing her chair back, she stood up, âHeh, you called it. See that street corner out there, itâs got my name written all over it. Itâs a damn fucking good thing you decided to fight for uppity pricks like yourself in the courtroom, because youâre the last person Iâd want defending me, and itâs not because youâve got the money or will have the degree on your side...Itâs because youâre far from having any kind of personality a jury member could ever love or respect. Good luck winning any cases, Erin Brockobitch.â With that, she walked out leaving Dominic to his studying.

Damien canât help but smile at her comment, cigarette going between his lips before he grabs her hips and pulls her into him to press her against his chest. âThatâs right. I love it. Just like you love these grizzle paws soaking those panties of yours after you get your natural high going.â A lazy chuckle leaves his lips before he pulls the cigarette out, leaning in to kiss her neck gently before his teeth sink into the pale flesh. âI thought cats only did that when they were in heat and wanting to fuck like bunnies?â
Lila was taken a bit by surprise when Damien pulled her in close. She didnât quite prefer the cigarette smoke being in her face, but fuck, he was turning her on, âItâs a good thing you donât have raper- face. Otherwise, Iâd be kicking you in the balls right now.â Grabbing the cigarette from his hand, she put it out in a nearby ashtray. Feeling his teeth graze her flesh, she closed her eyes and growled in sexual frustration, âFucking tease...â Opening her eyes and letting her, now, free hand move from ashtray downwards, Lila let it brush against the bulge between his legs, âFeels like someoneâs one horny kitty.â Pulling back, she ran her tongue across her top lip seductively, before leaning in to kiss him harder than he had nibbled on her neck.

He lifts his eyes back to Lila as he hears her shuffling around only to take in a deep breath when he realizes sheâs moving to his table. This was his worst nightmare. Being stuck with Lila until his brother showed up was the last damn thing he wanted right now and yet fate decided that was his curse for the day. Rolling his eyes slightly, Dominic tried to ignore the girl as he went back to his notes for statistics. âNo, Iâd rather not go anywhere near anything thatâst touched your saliva. Between you and Damien a venereal disease has to be running through that bloodstream of yours.â He ignored the other question but as much as he was trying to just concentrate on his work her constant commentary was too distracting. Sighing, he closed the notebook in front of him and glared. âEver think that maybe youâre just not worthy of a smile? Just because my twin thinks youâre worth more than the shit he takes every morning doesnât mean that I do. Iâm plenty capable, I just donât waste smiles on anyone who doesnât even have the mental capacity to scrape gum off the bottom of my shoe.â
Lila knew Dominic would have some smart-ass retort to send her way. She had heard worse from her mother, and while he could get pretty creative with his words and insults, it held nothing to likes of âI wish Iâd had that abortion when I had the chance.â or Lilaâs favorite, âYouâre not my child. My child would be grateful for this life, and not be a little bitch from the deepest parts of Hell.â Watching him and listening to him insult her was amusing and gave her something to be entertained by while she continued to eat the candy off of the string around her wrist, âWow. Glad to know Damien thinks Iâm worth more than a morning dump. That right there, is true love. Do you know how great a morning shit feels?â She noticed the book he had closed and pulled it over into her lap while he was busy talking shit, âWhatcha reading, Dominique? How To Be Dick For Dummies?â
damien--ford:
âIt also means itâs a little weird when youâre pulling on my dick but Iâm slowly getting over it.â He grins at the girl before taking a drag of the cigarette, shoulders coming up into a shrug at her comment. âThis coming from the girl who smokes about half of Nashvilleâs supply of weed in one week. You realize even though it doesnât have all the chemicals the smoke is still hurting your lungs, right?â
âYou like having these hands pull on your dick.â She flashed a hand and wiggled her fingers at him. Face it, theyâre softer than those grizzle paws your totinâ at the end of your arms.â She finished her beer and sat the bottle down. âHey, a natural high is better than a cat urine high, which by the way is what youâre smoking, because cigarettes and cat piss have similar ingredients stewing around in them. No wonder youâve started whipping it out and marking your territory every chance you get.â
dominic--ford:
The sound of Lilaâs voice was like nails on a chalkboard to Dominic, the youngest of the Ford twins cringing when he heard her speak up. He hadnât noticed the blonde before now and he kind of wish he hadnât spoken up at this point. âWell, maybe you should go find him then cause Iâm sure as soon as he saw me he probably high tailed it in the opposite direction.â The Ford twins hadnât gotten along in years, not since Damien had his sudden personality change in their freshman year of college. Dominic hadnât understood anything about his older brother since, especially his taste in obnoxious girls. Sometimes he wished the boy would just go back to sleeping around the whole city so that he didnât have to put up with Lila anymore but then he would remember that she at least made him happyâŚthat had to count for something. âYou didnât meet us while high? I could have sworn that was your constant state of being so color me surprised.â
She had seen him cringe, and it brought joy into her life. She loved pissing Dominic off. It was like the man walked around with a stick shoved up his ass at all hours of the day. âNah. The fucker said he would meet me here. Iâm gonna hold him to his word. Looks like youâre stuck with me.â Grabbing her stuff, Lila pushed her chair back and moved over to Domâs table. Plopping down in the chair across from him, she resumed eating the hard candy from the bracelet she had been wearing, âWant some candy?â She knew the other Ford twin wouldnât accept her offer, but it was worth a shot. âAnd no, Man. Who do you think I am? Snoop Dogg?â Lila took a bite off of the bracelet before leaning forward letting her elbows settle on the table, âWhy do you always look like you need to take a massive shit? I donât think Iâve ever seen you smile or are you not capable?â
damien--ford:
âYou know that insult be a lot more effective if I werenât supposed to have man hands. Besides if anyone has oafish man hands it would be the person who just got that shit to light with no problem.â Damien just glared at her before bringing his cigarette to the flame, puffing it to light up for him. âAnd donât ever call yourself Mama. I donât know if youâre into that kinky daddy shit but it doesnât sit well with me.â
âAre you telling me I have man hands? You know what, Fucker, I accept your insult, because that means my middle finger has more power.â She watched as he bent down and lit the cigarette; a tinge of revenge for his insults sending the temptation through her body to light a little bit of his hair on fire. However, Lila let the flame extinguish and tossed the lighter down into the pile, before picking her drink back up. âIâll call myself whatever the hell I want to. And you know smoking kills right?â
