he thinks he could bottle up the sound, keep it by his bed, wake up to her every morning, sort of. like a flower, plucked for its beauty to be admired, bedside, without any thought for how quickly it wilts. in order to capture the sun, one needs patience. two hands prepared for heart slow and steady, until the sun is a dimming candle, wax dripping through fingers.

“Second floor? Okay, cool,” she looked around, squinting her eyes. “Is there an elevator around here? Stairs?”

“Uh, I don’t really know. But there are escalators by the big center place where all the kids play. Stairs are usually near the ends, near the big opening stores.” Giving out this information made her feel like she actually knew the area well. Considering that she still felt like a newbie, it was pretty cool.

“I should be the first.” She laughed and wrapped her arms around him. Part of it was to actually hug him, but the other reason was to hold him up so he wouldn’t fall over. She didn’t really know what to do, but this is what she saw on tv. “You’re one of my favorites too.”

“tootles!” she gasped, her bottom lip protruding a little. “come on! we were just beginning to be friends!”

She dragged him all away from the crowd people that were watching them as he  stumbled along the sidewalk with her. “Where are we going?  We should-  We should get food! Food sounds great. Did you know whiskey is really good? You shouldn’t because you’re a child” Al normally wasn’t much of a drinker so him being a drunk was a very rare thing and he was pretty bad at it.

“Okay we can get food, but you need to not be so loud!” She yelled at him. “No, I don’t know. I don’t drink. It’s gross. Smells gross too. Like your breath.” Lilo nagged as she dragged him along, scanning the place for a to get food.

Her statement almost brought him to tears. “ You feed your fish peanut butter? Do you not have fish food? ” He’s seconds away from stealing her fish and raising them as his own.

Al was confused he coulda swore. She loked dancing. "Then where do we go? ” He said sulrring most of that sentence

"I-I can’t!” She groaned. She didn’t want people to find out she was the one who ruined everything for them. “Because if I do, people will hate me! And then I won’t have friends! And then I’ll be alone f o r e v e r !” Lilo was a pro at overthinking situations.

Eleanor gestured to her glasses. “I can’t really see,” she said, letting out awkward chuckle. “I’m just trying to find the optometrist to get them fixed. Do you know where that is?”

“Sorry.” She didn’t know how to respond to the glasses bit. She didn’t have to wear glasses, so she couldn’t relate. “I think it’s on the second floor.” Or maybe that was just a sunglass shop. She never went to the optometrist. Didn’t think she needed to.

mabel was known for being more energetic than most. this was one of those times. what did people expect? school was over, she was free. well, kind of. she still had to go to work. but other than that, mabel was happy. and happy mabel meant dancing in the shack with waddles while no one was there. except there was. “oh sh–, enjoy the view?”

Al glared at her. He still wasn’t use to hearing people say his his full name. It always sounded werid. He ruffled her hair to annoy her back. “I don’t scheme that much he grumbled.

“Oh my god.” She groaned to herself once in his arms and pulled out her phone to play music so  people wouldn’t think he was that weird. “I just got here." But I want to leave. "I don't dance." She whined, lying to him but it was for their sake.
