Our thoughts on no snow in Jorvik….

I don’t usually join these discussions because I don’t C A R E, and the tumblr community has been calm about this topic. According to a friend, Facebook is losing it.

Am I slightly sad there’s no snow this year? Sure. As a former crappy laptop owner, I personally would have appreciated the environment not changing to much.

Also, this makes our past Christmas event experience as older players a lot more unique.

As I said to my formerly mentioned friend, I’d trade the snow to try something new and creative this year!

Im a little sad about it, but glad we have a new area that substitutes in for the missing snow. Plus I feel like maybe the reason we dont have snow this year is because they’re developing new snow/weather physics.

I think the reason they haven’t done snow this year is since the new area is coming out before the end of the year, snow would still be around and so instead of seeing it normally for the first time, we would see it with snow. Plus they probably don’t want to render snow after they’ve been working on Mistfall for so long, and the snow might not mesh well with higher quality graphics they’re putting in. Hoping that we’ll have it next year though, maybe with better textures?

Gray’s Cross Country Challenge

Alright! I’ve been wanting to host something like this for a long time, so here it is!

The Track:

The race begins at Valedale Lake, the first red flag. Which makes it the first checkpoint. You MUST stay on the red line, which means that you MUST stay on the MAIN ROAD. 

The second checkpoint is the Silverglade Windmill, and once again, you have to continue along the main road. 

The third point is the entrance to Greendale, from there you must run to New Hillcrest Stables. 

Hillcrest stable is the finish line, you and your team must cross the line into the stable in order to finish.

Teams:

We will have four teams: Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow. Each team will have a captain, I will be captaining the Green team! The captain doesn’t necessarily have any special powers or privilege, they’ll just help keep everything organized. (In order to become a captain, please message me privately and include that you want to captain in your application, first come first captain.) There will be four people in each team, although if enough people register the number may be upped. If you request to be made captain but that position is already taken, you can either just join that team, or captain another team if there’s a slot open.

Uniform:

You MUST have some part of your outfit coloured to match your team, if a team decides they want to do a full matching uniform that’s fine, it’s just not required. As for horses, obviously no ponies, bring your fastest horse, and if you want to be extra realistic then go for a Morgan, Thoroughbred, Arabian, or Hanoverian.

This will take place on Frost Valley, so anyone wanting to participate will need to switch onto that server for the time being.                                       

The date and time will be decided by the captains based on what works best for everyone participating, but we can already assume the race will take place within the next two weeks, so make sure you’re available.

If someone does not want to race, but would like to be there, we’d really appreciate a volunteer who would stand at the finish line and watch for the winner.

Anyone else who just wants to watch is totally recommended to do so, just sit back, relax and watch a million people stampede past you. :)

Welcome to thestarstableonlinecommunity blog!

So, this has been a really, really long time coming. I wanted this to be as finished as possible before launch, and I’ve been working on it on and off for months. I shouldn’t have to explain too much, since there are links all over this blog, but I shall explain anyway!

thestarstableonlinecommunity was made to be a gathering point and resource for anyone in or who wants to be in the tumblr SSO community. Links and descriptions, helpful SSO blogging advice, and even some sections for mental health help. This blog will be reblogging and linking to planned meetups, and will be reblogging things relating to the community, such as screens of meetups and the like.

There’s also a calendar in the works for events and such that I’m ironing out, but I also saw recently that there’s a blog for SSO events? If the people who run that blog would like to be linked here, that would be awesome! The more organized the better.

I should also add a disclaimer that this blog is meant to be a resource– NOT an admin, leader, SSO police, rule enforcer, etc. There might be occasional posts here talking about current goings ons good or bad, but all personal opinions will be kept to personal SSO blogs. 

This blog is meant to be a helpful resource, so if anyone has any helpful input, please do let me know! Some parts of the pages are still be ironed out(like the SSO outfits and a few links), but most of it is complete. Right now there is only one person running this blog, and for the foreseeable future that’s how it will likely remain, which isn’t a problem since this, again, is meant to be a resource for people to use.

Hopefully this blog can be helpful to someone! The images on the blog itself are temporary; I think the BG will be a monthly change– maybe for everyone month it will take after that months theme(much like a calendar); the sidebar will likely be a seasonal thing.
