Somehow, I ended up here for the night. <3 His Voice.
“...went to a strange land searching...” Just got back from a trip to the Midwest. It was a cool thing to experience. I’ve always had a bit of a phobia about going to that part of the U.S. but fears are meant to be challenged.
I actually got to hear this song live when he came to Jersey this past summer. Enjoy. (The story he told us was that one night he had the idea of doing an acoustic version of One but (my memory is fuzzy here) he didn't know it too well so he googled the song and started playing and singing. He soon realized that he didn't have the right combination of words and notes; but loved the mash up so much he decided to keep playing it that way.)
“ If I told you that a flower bloomed in a dark room, would you trust it?” - K. L.
Yes, I would.
Do the beat, vocals, the baby cry, the choreography (by Fatima Robinson) and the overall vibe make this song/video a masterpiece? YES.
Did the lacing of the baby’s cry annoy me as a kid? Slightly. (childhood + summer car ride + no a.c. + this song = a hit nerve) . That one moment aside, I truly love this song.
"Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts and we are never the same." - Aaliyah
so much f***king heart. (are they really glad or just faking it till they make it?)
“Sometimes survival seems like submitting. And that's really hard on the spirit.” - A.H.
Because I am a coward, and cowards are undeserving of love.
heart punching one liners I overhear while taking NJ transit.
I gotta be Mellow.
I shy away from talking about certain music and what it means to me because I hold it close to heart. Sharing can sometimes feel too intimate. This is one of those songs. It is a terribly sad song once you really listen to it. And you may find it eerily familiar (it was sampled in a popular song that was played everywhere a couple years back) but there is something so gritty and soulful about this song. Lyrics can make you love a new style of music and the actual instrumentation can make you love a song with shitty lyrics. But this is a song that grabs both of those elements and creates something worth remembering. This band may not play the most notes and the singer may not hit those technical high notes that are all the rage but they had Soul , that’s for sure.
“Got a lot on my mind. Music helps to calm down my anxiety. ” Here is a tasty piece of nostalgia: The light flares in this video remind me of the Television my family had when I was a kid. I used to get a kick out of switching the knob on that T.V. I would pretend that I was on an urgent mission to tune a spaceship or a plane. Subsequently it would always earn me a lecture from my Dad about how I was going to end up breaking the T.V. And the day did arrive when I crunched the knob too hard and it cracked off. I’m almost 100% certain that I’m not the only person in the world with that same experience. Isn’t that weird but cool?
Always hopeful yet discontent He knows changes aren't permanent But change is.

Just reminiscing about this talented soul. Selena always elevated her performances with her high level of commitment. And i love how this guy is just bugging out because she is singing to him. Also, if anyone has a line on where a girl can find a similar pair of pants to the ones Selena is wearing in this clip, please let me know. I clearly remember when I was a little girl and I promised myself that when I grew up I’d buy myself a pair.
Something Hard. Something Fast.
(missing Nick13 in this video but I’m digging the black&white Suprefan chose when they shot this.)
Wish I could find a video recording of this performance.
“The trouble with talking about acting is that it's like sex. It's enormously fun to do but just dreadfully embarrassing when you have to talk about it.“ - Mr. Paul Bettany
The guy who shot this video cut it short at the end but its still worth the listen. I think it is pretty amazing how close to the recorded track they sound when playing this song live. Whenever I hear this song I get flash backs to my High School MIDI Class. I won the lottery without knowing it when I got placed into that class.
