Promised myself to read more this year so I started off with Origin by Dan Brown. I've read from day one the escapades of Robert Langdon and his race across well known cities. In Origin you are brought on a historical journey through Spain (we stay in the one country with Origin) with Dan Brown's usual plot structure that he uses in all of his Langdon installments. It's entertaining and I did find myself looking up a few things on the internet along the way. It ran out of steam towards the end for me but I still enjoyed the codes and symbolism, but liked that this was more about the future, leaving you wondering if Religion or Science will win out. It's not as good as Angels & Demons but better than The Lost Symbol. Where did we come from? TV Tuesday 30/1/18. “My New Guest Needs No Introduction” with David Letterman, Episode 1: Barack Obama. Now on Netflix.

Out of the blue we found out about David Letterman’s long awaited return to TV, but it’s great to see him back. Rather than go with a tried and tested talk show format, however, Dave has stripped production back in this first episode. No desk, no backdrop (you can see right into the backstage area) and no band. Just him, and his guest shooting the breeze.

For the first episode, Dave landed a massive guest in former president of the United States, (Irelands own) Barack Obama.

The whole interview is very personal. Political discourse in relation to current events are minimal, and even when Dave tries to coerce a reaction from Obama, the former president sticks to the mantra “when they go low, we go high” and resist the urge to take unnecessary shots at his successor.

Elsewhere, Dave visits Selma, the site of the now famous march of 1965, where he talks with John Lewis, a member of the house of representatives, who was present at the initial, unsuccessful, march now known as “Bloody Sunday”.

As informative as it is entertaining, this is a fresh take on the traditional talk show/interview format and bodes well for future editions of the show, one of which is to be released every month until June. Next up, George Clooney.

EYEttraction Magnetic Loose Eyeshadow from @lovcosmetics is giving me everything I need and more. On first swatch I didn’t think much but once applied to the eyes we are in the business. A gorgeous metallic purple perfect for this festive season or go all out and use Mac fix+ to amp up to a jaw dropping foil finish. Easily applied with no creasing, and it lasted on my lids without a primer. With more shades to choose from I can see myself getting more. The velvet texture is kept together by a revolutionary magnet. The pigments have been magnetized and charged, so they do not only cling to a magnet in the packaging and do not spill or move out of the jar, they also cling to your eyelids smoothly and evenly. #minireview

I've been trying out @thebodyshop Japanese Matcha Tea Mask and it works wonders 💖 Lie back and let this sit for 5-10 minutes. Rinse off mask with warm water in circular motions to gently exfoliate. I find it really gentle and my skin is so smooth after and really fresh looking. I'd definitely want to try more of their masks after getting on so well with this one. They are €25 but plenty in the lovely glass jar. Enriched with matcha green tea from Japan and organic Community Trade aloe vera from Mexico and contains no silicones, mineral oil or paraffins.
