Dawn Bruchez. A place where imagination meets destination! My artwork takes a deep look into the social and cultural issues of my surroundings. I find harmony in different cultures and like to deconstruct the traditions in each piece I do. I like to melt together the ideas and values from two different cultures, creating a new world. Art for me is like breathing, something I can’t let go or leave behind. From as far back as I can remember I have had a paintbrush in my hands. Art is my salvation; it’s taken me through some tough times and kept me from falling apart. It is my therapy. I like to work in many different mediums, from oil painting to mixed media sculptures, Glass paintings and ceramics, but the medium I focus on mainly is oil painting. It is this medium that I relate to the most. There is something special in the way a painting develops and evolves in layers and time. When a person looks at my work, subconsciously they are projecting their lives into each piece and they take from it what they need, I want them to explore their own life, through my paintings and to develop a connection between the different cultures. And what it means to him or her, each person takes something a little different from the same picture and I'm happy with that. My influences are first and foremost everything I see, feel and experience, but I have drawn inspiration from Salvador Dali and Picasso; I would have loved to have sat down and drunk tea with either artist.
