its may and my life is still in shambles :)
gosh i feel like im running in circles with nowhere to escape
Soda was an effervescent corn-based drink that was popular during the height of the American Empire. Regionally known as pop or coke in some provinces, it was prepared by extracting corn sugars into a thick syrup to be mixed with water
Often dispensed from a many spouted font and served with small, rectangular blocks of ice. Some varieties of soda were thought to have energy enhancing properties.
Actually this has been debunked! While many images found from the time period depict what *appears* to be small blocks of ice, evidence and testing have shown extremely elevated levels of plastic, meaning that those blocks were actually just clear plastic!
It's not yet known why they chose to put this substance directly in their drink, but our leading theory is that it was a religious ritual to show their devotion to the god of plastic. We've found much evidence of the material used during the time period in spite of their access to glass and metal, which we also believe has religious significance.
I have absolutely no recollection of writing this at all
Probably the religious ecstasy from microplastics
In matters of structural and societal oppression, do you ever notice how often people are far more scared of things "swinging too far in the other direction" than they are of things staying the same? You might be inclined to think such people value the status quo a bit more than they let on.
"now, i am as committed to feminism as anyone," they might say, "but we must measure our approach. things staying the same for longer is a lot better than women becoming favored in society!" and they will do this with every form of oppression, and ask that you not question why things staying the same longer is not at least as bad as things "going too far". but perhaps i misunderstand, after all, the people who say this claim to be very progressive

it's really driving me a little crazy how mainstream zog conspiracy theory nonsense is now like you literally cannot even talk to communists abt the relationship between the united states and the zionist state anymore without them being like our great american society has been hijacked or whatever the fuck nonsense like what are you a fucking patriot???? and if u ask ppl to give their reasoning it's literally just vibes 100% of the time. and also abt the stupidest nonsense ever like ppl on this site will be like yknow i think candace owens might be onto something when she said israel killed charlie kirk. genuinely are you stupid. i mean the real issue here is that the vast majority of people are conspiracy theorists bc it's much more glamorous than the mundane reality of vassal states jockeying for favor with the impcore or the various organic ideological zionisms of many us politicians, and also bc they deep down believe that the united states govt and military and the international bourgeoisie would never make mistakes or try to pursue short-term destabilization of enemy nations rather than patiently pursuing sustainable extension of their rule. like dude if they cared about maintaining their rule the united states would be doing socdem developmentalism but do you see them doing that? genuinely this nonsense is just american exceptionalism, even when it's nonamericans who hate america saying it
Priestly celibacy in Roman Catholicism is funny bc it’s a very prominent and unusual when compared to other organized religions bc if a society thinks it’s super duper important to have a class of celibate men they’ll like, just start castrating people to use as eunuchs but I guess it makes sense why Catholic priests making rules for Catholic priests wouldn’t go that route.
Also it’s funny bc it technically is not immutable “dogma” but a “discipline” which can be changed in theory and that’s bc you can’t really ignore the whole first millennium with married clergy (including St Peter) but also today around 2% of Catholic Church members belong to Eastern-rite Churches which are non-Roman but still Catholic and follow the Pope but but follow more Orthodox style rules such as allowing married men to become priests (and who make up the majority of clergy) while unmarried men who become priests as well as monks and bishops must be celibate. And since Eastern Rite Catholics are supposed to be treated as fully equal and valid Catholics that means Roman Catholics can’t really go that hard when it comes to defending clerical celibacy and how it’s really great and important without invalidating people who are supposed to be co-religionists of a different flavor. Like yeah sure during the Countrr-Reformation you could go hard and say priestly celibacy is a direct command by God himself bc it’s not like Lebanese Catholics were gonna hear you talk shit about how they do things but it’s a bit different in the modern era
But also it’s kinda funny how people try to explain it primarily as a matter of principle when the real historical answer is that by the 10th century it was becoming increasingly common for sons of married priests to become priests and inherit their fathers church which diminished centralized control but was especially problematic if the family in question were also powerful nobles. This was especially relevant in the city of Rome itself where the Theophlacti and Crescentii were feuding noble families who fought each other for control of the higher ranks of the papacy because they seemingly wished to set up a papal dynasty (the Theoplacti once had three members of their family be pope back to back) and celibacy became absolute when supporters of a populist anti-noble reform movement called Pataria were able to seize control and “elected” a lay deacon who became Gregory VII and began a policy of centralizing the Catholic Church and removing the influence of noble families in favor of bureaucratic theocracy and like the celibacy stuff stuck around because ppl got used to it I guess
so. not to doxx myself (i've talked about this here before though) but i live in Kansas. and my license was just revoked very suddenly and immediately because i'm trans and had changed my gender marker.
so now i cannot legally drive or vote until/unless i let them force me to carry around a card that misgenders me and outs me as trans, because i certainly don't look female anymore.
so hey if you have the means and want to help with any of this, please consider donating to the ACLU of Kansas because they are at least going to try to do something to push back against this, and i'm such a panicky wreck that the only thing i can do to get through my immediate gut reaction to having my license revoked tonight (i cannot stress enough that i received the letter today saying that my license is no longer valid tomorrow) is focus on the fact that there's at least one entity trying to protect me and my fellow trans kansans.
More info on what's been happening in Kansas:

the concept of MLK Jr. Day & Juneteenth sales by nonblack owned and operated businesses who either dont hire Black American people, underpay and overwork the Black employees they do have, and who don’t get the holidays off but their majority nonblack corporate counterparts DO, is a level of present day dystopia bred in necropolitics & the continued cannibalization of Blackness to sustain a zombie economic system that’s hinged on us as products to work.
after being laid off in November, this MLK Jr. Day, consider helping a Black woman pay her rent until she finds new work.

When politicians say "we gotta appeal to the working class" you have to keep in mind that in their imaginations, the working-class person is basically a form of ogre-like creature whose existence consists of backbreaking manual labor and seething with Every Single Bigotry.
I haaaaaaaaaaate the "affirmation only" framing of trans rights that some ostensibly pro-trans advocates take like there are actually more pertinent issues than feeling affirmed going on here.
I didn't go through the bureaucratic process of changing my Norwegian personal ID number, which encodes gender in it, because having an odd number there made me feel bad.
I did it because for someone with my name and outward appearance, having "man" on my IDs reveals private medical information to everyone who sees the document, information that they aren't entitled to know, which they might act on in deeply undesirable ways.
Taking HRT also isn't something I'm doing to be affirmed, it's something I'm doing because the biological processes signaled by having high levels of estrogen and low levels of testosterone are both something I want, and something that helps my overall well-being and functioning in daily life. Material, real, physiological effects that are well understood, easy to look up, and not about some vague sense that putting estrogen in my bloodstream is a badge of validity handed out by the doctor.
Like at some point I just want to ask these people if they actually believe trans people exist or if they just feel obligated to humor the idea to be nice. Have they actually understood that there are people walking around today with the full effects of transition care already sorted? Have they comprehended that the surgeries exist beyond the occasional picture of someone who's still in recovery?
Do you live in the same material reality as trans people, or are you just being polite to shadows on the wall?
Oh and this is also part of the broader centrist "every material claim the far right makes is true, I just disagree with their tone and think we should be nice" tendency. Like what I'm outlining here is a worldview where the anti-trans notion that trans people Do Not Exist is taken for granted.
Yes. This is probably going to be an embarrassing defeat for the US when they inevitably fail to achieve any of their stated objectives. And yes, ground invasion, which is necessary for achieving the aforementioned objectives, would be their second Vietnam, Iran will be a graveyard for invaders &c. &c. I literally agree. And I think we should all have hope and be steadfast in our support of the Iranian struggle against western imperialism.
But it will not be before the US and Israel murder a lot of innocent people in this region, as the US did in Vietnam. As they already have. So I think merhaps we should keep the glee to a minimum until we’re out of the woods, this is not a video game.
