i think it would be funny if grace played some earth music for rocky and it turned out that by complete coincidence the chords that make up like idk. beethoven's fifth or something exactly corresponded to the eridian words for some incredibly vulgar and egregious insult

it’s just that in s8, eddie said no offence but im straight. because he thought the hot priest was flirting with him. then buck said eddie is Straight. and a renter. so i can’t be in love with him. and now we’re in s9 and eddie is paying $2500 so that he can avoid going on a date. and every time a beautiful gorgeous woman flirts with him he makes this 🫩 face. and also he touched a man’s crotch and got called a princess and a fairy and got accused of murdering his bisexual husband because everyone in the diner saw them arguing like an old married couple. and he didn’t deny the husband part or the gay part but he did deny the murderer part. like. Okay.

when people mistook ana for his wife he had full on panic attacks but when they thought buck was his husband. well.

So interesting to me how deliberate the homophobia in this episode was and how this is framed as directly impacting Eddie rather than Buck the canonically bisexual character….

There was no need for this plot… if the guys at the diner were just meant to be a misdirect they could have had a minor conflict over ANYTHING else…why did they need to be homophobic to propel the plot?

Also the cop clearly had been told by witnesses they were a gay couple…the cop could have just been portrayed as lazy or that he didn’t believe Eddie. He could have thought Eddie had a brain injury or something and that Buck didn’t even exist…but the show has him repeatedly act micro aggressively towards Eddie for being gay and that’s the reason he is so uncaring about the case (other than thinking Eddie had potentially killed Buck in a gay lovers quarrel)…

Neither of those situations queerphobic framing were necessary for the story’s plot, however, the entirety of Eddie’s arc this episode is REPEATEDLY dominated by him being the subject of homophobia…

“Your kind”, “princess”, “your “friend””, “mend your wing*” — that is FOUR homophobic insinuations all directed at EDDIE in the span of one episode.

Why would that be a “straight” characters plot…

*EDIT: a lot of people have been asking so I’ll just explain here that a lot of people have interpreted “mend your wing” as an innuendo for the cop calling Eddie a fairy

just a reminder this was the first time buck and eddie were clocked as a couple in front of eddie. it's happened to buck before. buck who was quick to deny when tommy painted eddie as the competition for buck's affections vs eddie who only had a problem with it because it was said in a homophobic manner. like okay. it was pointed out to eddie, and he didn't deny they act like a couple. awesome.

I can't get over Chim, Maddie and Athena all collectively not doubting for a second that an injured Eddie will jump out a window and go on the run from the police to find Buck like everyone knows what those two mean to each other it's not even a conversation worth having it's a given that Eddie will do whatever is in his earthly power to do to find his man and they all know it and dammit that has to mean something.
