lily sat at the table she’d booked for her and bryce at tony’s. she’d managed to get them discounts with her now working there so it felt like a good choice for her and bryce to have a catch up without aria. “hey, it’s good to see you. how are you?”

lily wasn’t paying much attention when she bumped in to a guy. “oh sorry, that’s my bad.” she instantly apologised, looking to the guy. “oh, hey, it’s dallas, right?”

“xena!” lily called as her dog started to pull towards maddie. “hey, sorry, i think she really wants to see you.”

        “ I was joking ” she said now looking at the picture the brunette was showing her. “ How is the little one? ” Quinn asked with a smile on her lips. “ I’ve been alright, partying as always ”

“i thought that was actually a smart idea. see if it goes with the whole set up.” she said. “she’s good i think. it’s a big change going from getting settled in one place and back to another but i think she’s coping well enough. having her grandparents back is helping.” she explained. “i’m jealous of you a little. i didn’t get chance to party in new york.”

“oh thank you... you know i don’t think anyone’s ever actually said that to me before.” lily considered. “my dog xena is the exact same way. she learnt how to get in to aria’s bedroom whenever she wanted within about a week.”

      “ I started studying here a couple of months ago ” he answered with a smile on his lips. “ Wait, am I bothering you? Are your friends going to come here because I here because making you waist your time with them? ” he asked as a chuckle fell from her lips.

“i must have just missed you before i left.” lily commented. “no, you’re good. my friend just left. you’re doing me a favour by talking to me.”

          The brunette raised her eyebrows at her words, yet she just shook her head, Lily was just happy about being back with Aria and, after all she didn’t want to ruin that just now. “ I do think, after all you’ve told me about your sister, she’s great, you could’ve trust her ” she smiled warmly at the girl. “ Don’t thank me, she’s the only kid I like in this word ” Chanel assured. “ I guess I know the feeling ” she said as her teeth sank into her bottom lip. “ Yeah … that’s sad, you wanna keep talking about this or? ”

“i’ve no doubts violet’s living her best life right now but it’s weird being back and she’s not here.” lily confessed. “then me and aria are so happy you chose her to be the kid you don’t mind.” she laughed. “it’s a pretty bad feeling. it’s alright. it’ll all be okay in the end i’m sure. right now, i want to focus on getting my little apartment sorted, getting a routine back and focus on better things.”

adrian was busy looking at the items on the shelf and the shopping list he had written on his phone. he didn’t even realise the small child found him until he heard the all too familiar squeal. his heart immediately stopped when he felt aria hug him. “what the— aria?! hello!” he said, trying his absolute best to refrain from cursing in front of her. wrapping his arms around her and picking her up out of habit, adrian smiled at her. “what are you doing here?” adrian asked before he turned his head and saw lily standing at the end of the aisle. his heart had now plummeted into the ground at the sight of his ex. swallowing down the lump in his throat, he slowly walked towards lily with aria still in his arms. “n-no no, i can help. what do you need?” he asked, not sure if his question was for aria or for lily.

“mummy can’t reach the toy.” aria very quickly interjected, really focused on the toy but only looking at adrian with the biggest smile. “yeah apparently i’ve still not grown enough to reach the top shelves...” she managed to say in a bid to try and sound normal. “it’s just down here...” lily turned away to walk him down the next aisle. “the unicorn plushie!” aria pointed.
