♣︎ It’s easy to bring up his wealth in terms of Lex showing his love. He’s rich! He buys you things! He bought you a car, he’s buying you a house, he paid of your tuition, Blah, blah, blah!
It’s easy. So much so that it’s almost like it means nothing, and it doesn’t. You can’t measure Joseph’s love by the amount of money he’s willing to spend on you because it’s nothing to him, a multibillionaire that casually drops money to get his way. He’s spent money on people he’s no longer talking to or in some cases, locked away in a cell. The money isn’t a testament of his love and you’d be foolish to believe that.
♣︎ When he loves you, his condescending tone and the slick comments all but disappear when you’re around. He’d never want to hurt your feelings, let alone intentionally insult you. There isn’t a moment when he would intentionally make you feel dumb or constantly pick at your word choices. That’s reserved for people he doesn’t care for.
Hell, he loves you so much that you could tell him that you just found out the sun is a star, at your big age, and he wouldn’t ridicule you, even though that’s something you learn in elementary school. Now he’ll mentally question how you didn’t know that already but he won’t demean you.
♣︎ Because Joseph loves you, his sweet honeysuckle, he values your opinions and would hunt you down to hear your thoughts, not about his work, but things like his clothes. Joseph has a system and he puts a lot into every aspect of his life, but he has now grown accustomed to asking what you think about things like his cuff links or if you think his ideas for redesigning a room looks good.
Speaking of which, he respects your opinions in terms of the houses decor. You won’t get to completely shake things up but Joseph incorporates your style into your house as a way to show you that he’s fully accepted you in his life. The house now becomes a home for the both of you and isn’t just an extension of him.

It also doesn’t need to be an impressive hobby or a career related thing. It could be something as simple as reading gothic literature, trying new first person shooter games, or rating slimes on the internet. Whatever makes you happy, is enough for him, he’s not going to ridicule you.
♣︎ You’re the love of his life, it’s only right that he opens up to you. He’s never known a love as freeing or comforting as this so it makes sense for Joseph to show you who he really is. Not the real him as in the villain, but who he is underneath the intellectual and wealth. Joseph would tell you things about his upbringing that might explain why he became who he is today.
On the days when he finds himself sitting on the couch, with nothing but the soft music playing from the stereo in the background as his stares at the blank television, Lex pulls you down into his lap and lets you know what has been bothering him. As you listen, you feel the way he holds you. Almost like he’s clutching a stuffed animal to soothe his mind that never stops racing. You’re the only person to get a true glimpse into his emotions.
