i was training a young person at work, and she referred to sexual assault as "SA" out loud, and i immediately was like, "no, it's sexual assault, call it what it is," bc idgaf if the algorithm overlords have taught y'all that you should fear direct language, how tf do any of you expect to ever address real issues with any amount of seriousness if you can't even say the words? imagine an advocate looking a sexual assault survivor in the eyes and asking "did he grape you?" it's absolutely fucking absurd, but these young interns and new hires are coming into an environment where we deal with survivors of all different kinds of abuse, and they're coming with the mindset that the words are as bad as the actions, and that makes them shitty at the job and look juvenile af
i HATE self-censorship for a lot of reasons, but being in crisis work makes it even more frustrating. who are you censoring for? like i am being so fr, WHO are you censoring for? have you even thought it through? people who have been raped know that they have been raped. if someone attempts suicide or is grieving someone who did, saying "sewer slide" isn't going to protect them from any of the feelings. a murder victim's family isn't going to feel better bc you said "unalived" instead of murdered. if anything, it's just extremely invalidating and othering. it's saying "what happened to you is so bad that i won't even say the word," which is NOT trauma-informed care. you are not protecting survivors/victims when you self-censor. the ONLY things you protect when you self-censor are the puritanical ideologies that are being encouraged by rich fascists who want your money and obedience
say the fucking words, guys. just say the goddamn words before i go insane!!!
india is not a democracy anymore.
everyone needs to hear about the situation in india right now. the youth of this nation are going through hell and back to protect the foundations that our country was built on in the first place, while the adults who are supposed to actually be in charge try to silence our voices.
NEET, which is an exam taken by millions of students per year and is the ONLY gateway for medical admissions across the country, had its papers leaked. so many took their lives because this exam meant everything for their future. and NTA, the agency who conducts this exam, was not held accountable.
there was national backlash. cockroach janta party (initially a satirical political party formed by abhijeet dipke in retaliation to the remarks of the chief justice of india calling the youth "cockroaches" and "parasites of society") started protests at jantar mantar, demanding the resignation of the union education minister, dharmendra pradhan. the movement also asked for ten million inr (~100,000 usd) in compensation for the families of students who died by suicide and wanted NTA be held accountable.
sonam wangchuk, a climate activist and education reformer, also went on a hunger strike at jantar mantar to protest against this corruption in india's higher education system. his fast began on june 28, demanding the resignation of the union education minister. his fast lasted for 20 days until delhi police FORCIBLY removed him and admitted him to safdarjung hospital on july 18.
because of this, cockroach janta party announced "chalo sansad," a march to the parliament beginning on june 20th, 9:00 am ist. but the police seems to be responding with water cannons, mobile jammers, and baton charge. all of this, because of a peaceful protest led by people no older than 30.
and yet there has been absolutely no indian media coverage about a movement that spans the entirety of this nation. so, please, if you see this, keep talking about us. we will not let those old bastards stoop any lower than they've already had. we will not let them ruin our country any further. we will not be silenced
humans are space orks: intense focus
Alien: "Human."
Human: "Hm."
Alien: "Oh my gods - HUMAN. OPEN YOUR EARS."
Human: "..."
(The pencil they were using abruptly snaps in half)
Human: "!!!"
Alien: "I cannot believe I had to resort to telekinesis for you to listen to me. You know I hate being ignored."
Human: "I wasn't trying to ignore you. I was just, like, in the zone."
Alien: "...?"
Human: "You know, really focused. To the point I, uh, didn't hear you calling my name."
(The growling of their stomach echoes through the room)
Alien: (Mildly angry) "When was the last time you ate?"
Human: "... That depends on what time it is... I haven't checked."
Alien:
Alien: "Sometimes, human, you make me want to strangle you."
Whenever I see one of those human glazing posts, I always think to myself that the persistent Hunter stuff is always talked up so much. But I just spent 10 minutes hunting down a cricket that escaped my lizard tank.
Waiting for it to start chirping then moving silently around listening to where it is. It stops, I freeze and wait until it starts chirping again before I continue to move.
If I have learned one thing from One Piece, Peaceful protests works, but Violence done as reaction from the oppressed always brings change, and punching the bad guys works even better.
If we try the violence route, they're gonna take it as evidence, declare us terrorists,a threat to 'national safety'.
Then they're gonna gun us down.
Funny how even with the peaceful protests, this is exactly what's happening?
neet ka topper bol raha hai why protest i would rather study hard ek chamat maaro isko please your ass must be priviledged you migjt have the means to study again for a year but what about those who had once chance and it was ruined because of a fucking leak tu fund kar de unki prep vo bhi padh lenge laude people who are or have been part of the system (so everybody) not saying how fucked up it is has got to be some insane top 10 brainwashing moments in history
"Why protest, would rather study harder"
Why walk outside, accidents can happen🥰
I still don't understand how much of brainwashing it has taken to make people believe that protests are bad and 'anti-national'.
Cause for fuck's sake, protests are our right. If the government is doing nothing, they're not listening,it is our right to make them listen.
Questioning the government, holding them accountable doesn't make us anti-national. Why don't people understand that it is our right as citizens of this country to question.
Due to the NEET leak,do people know how many lives have been destroyed?
Aadhe se jyada bacho ko Re-NEET attempt bhi nhi karne diya gya hoga.Kitne bacho ki to shadi kara di hogi.
(More than half of the children probably weren't even able to or allowed to attempt the Re-NEET.Many probably have been married off)
Hamari desh ke log ki yehi soch hai ki hamare saath nhi ho rha na?To problem kya hai?
This ideology needs to be abandoned.
Just because we have rights today, doesn't mean we'll have them tomorrow.
"Oh noo 😰, how dare students show obvious anger towards the Delhi Police 😱, It is not as if the Delhi Police were the ones who first launched a lathi charge at peaceful protesters, hitting girls in their private parts and charging at anyone they saw, and actually killing people in the process, but how dare you anti-national terrorist baka hmmph 😤"
This is how half of the desi tumblr sounds btw (not gonna mention which side because cinderella always finds her shoe)
