Dancer’s Delight || Open
“Step-by-step… Just as father showed you.”
Carefully, steadily, Soleil slowly lifted her leg into the air, the dirt stuck to her foot falling off pebble after pebble. She had to stay focused, this time she wouldn’t fail!
After lifting her leg, the next step was to extend it outwards, and she did just that. Now, what was the next part? Something about spinning? No problem! Spinning is like a step for babies, anyone could do it.
At least, that’s what she thought until all balance was lost, causing her to fall flat onto the ground accompanied with a small gasp of surprise. Gods, she truly was bad at dancing, let alone just keeping her balance while trying to do the move. But perhaps with practice this would change; she could become the number one dancer in the army! Motivate others, use her talent for good… And another skill to pick-up ladies with.
But that was besides the point! She had to make father proud and improve, no matter what! A tired smile still plastered onto her face, the young woman stood up again, going through the same steps again, trying even harder to get past the three easiest steps of the dance.
It was a cool, breezy day outside, and most of the army was taking advantage of the weather by training outside. Everyone seemed to be busy, though a young princess found herself without anything to do. She was growing tired of taking walks alone, and she didn’t feel much like weaving flowers into decorations that day.
She looked around, only then spotting a lone young woman just off to the side of the training grounds. She didn’t exactly appear to be training, as there was no weapon in her hand… though Elise knew she could be wrong. After all, she wasn’t much of a fighter… perhaps doing those weird, twisty stretches was part of being a soldier!
Her curiosity pulled her closer, only then revealing the girl’s identity. Elise knew who she was, of course. She was the daughter of her brother’s retainer. She didn’t know much about her, truthfully, but she seemed to be very energetic! Those kicks, those spins-
“Oh no!”
Elise covered her mouth, two simple words escaping as the girl hit the floor. She immediately wondered if she was okay… After all, she took quite a fall! Fortunately, she had her staff with her, so she didn’t think twice about offering help. It gave her a good excuse to ask about her secret training method as well!
“Are you okay?” The princess ran over, watching as the girl got up to continue her movements. She was definitely determined! Even after falling, she stood right back up. She was definitely the daughter of one of the prince’s retainers! Elise knew her father’s skills must have passed onto her.
“I like your… dancing!” Elise gasped. “Are you dancing?” It was only then that Elise realized the young woman may have been practicing entirely different moves. Perhaps not everyone was training that day – she didn’t have to feel entirely alone.
Fair: Food & Fun! {Elise & Effie}
Any normal retainer would be armed to the teeth, especially if they were the retainer of a young princess. However, Effie was unarmed. To be honest, she didn’t need a weapon to protect Elise. Effie had the strength to bulldoze through a mountain empty handed if she wanted to, and that was on a normal day. Besides, this was suppose to be a day of fun, and if she had brought her lance, it would ruin the experience for Elise. Effie wanted her best friend to forget her troubles, and perhaps her duties as a princess, even if it was only for a few hours. For once, she could be “Elise”, rather than “Princess Elise”.
“Awww that’s super sweet of you Elise!” Effie smiled gently at the princess. “You don’t have to use your own money though. Didn’t you save up hard for it?” Effie pondered out loud.
Elise’s cheeks almost immediately puffed in response to Effie’s gentle objection. “I want to spend my money here! I saved up for the carnival every year and never got a chance to use any of it.” Her eyebrows lowered slightly, thinking back to all the times she had gotten her hopes up. It wasn’t often that they got to do things like this, especially now with everything going on. Elise wasn’t upset, though. She was simply determined to finally go and see what all the excitement in town was about.
“And anyway, I hear you can win super neat prizes!” Her expression quickly changed back to what was normally seen on the princess’s face. “Plus, how much money could it be anyway?” Elise giggled, now approaching the candy-colored carnival entrance. She knew perfectly well she’d spend a lot, which is why her pockets were weighed down with handfuls of gold. Effie didn’t have to know that, though!

Effie looked down at the small princess with a fond smile. “Of course we can go.” She nods gently ruffling Elise’s hair. Effie didn’t mind one bit spending time with her best friend. “It’s been quite a while since we did something together. I would love to be the one to accompany you.” The knight smiled.
“Really? We can?” Elise could barely believe that she was finally going to be able to go. “Effie, you’re the best!”
Of course, Elise always thought Effie was wonderful. Whenever there was something her siblings wouldn’t do with her, she could usually count on her retainer to pull though. She had wanted Arthur to go with them, but he was busy that day. Something about a kitten in a tree, Elise recalled.
“Let’s go now! I already brought some money for us,” she patted a small coin purse in her pocket. She stuffed a rather large amount of gold in, but it was her own money. If she was free to spend it, what better place to do so than at the fair?

Fair: Food & Fun! {Elise & Effie}
“Effie! Effiiiiiiiiie,” the young princess approached her retainer with an unmistakable bounce in her step. “There’s a fair in town today!”
The fair came around the same time every year, yet Elise never had the chance to attend. Every time she’d ask her siblings, they’d say they were too busy. As she got older, though, they’d just admit it was too childish. Effie was a mature woman just like her older sister; there was a chance she wouldn’t be interested either… but Elise had to try.
“Can we go? Pleeeeeease?” She looked up at Effie expectantly.
