John liked to have a cup before they headed into work, and although in the beginning Anna had be bewildered by the notion of getting up any earlier than absolutely necessary, she had grown to love this little ritual of theirs. But something was different this morning. It took her a few moments until she realized that John was humming. And what was more, there was music coming from the gramophone in the corner!

not elsie practically testifying against john at his trial ("he forgave you long before i did") nor john "threatening" elsie out of pure desperation to make her reveal the truth about annas attack, so he can finally FINALLY help his wife. they respect and trust each other. elsie is one of very few ppl, john lets his guard down for. and elsie supports john early on but doesnt shy away from calling him out on his bs.

oh and they wouldve totally teamed up to kill [redacted] and deposit the remains among the limp corrector in the pond
