Vang-Do Family Session

Betty, Jon, and their two girls Morgan and Parker are the best. It helps that they are such a beautiful family to start with, but I know it has even more to do with all the love and respect they share between one another. I’ve known the family for some time now, and I’ve watched how Betty and Jon have raised two smart, curious, and kind girls. Morgan is a ball of energy, always running ahead and making things brighter. Parker is always following close behind, chasing after her sister, so curious and already talking at age 2! I am honored that they had me shoot their portraits this year and hope to see them again soon!

Meet the Babilos - 2016 edition

I’ve worked with Peter for a number of years, and he is much beloved in our group as a quiet, more reserved genius. He is warm and friendly but has mentioned on multiple occasions that he does not like hugs … EXCEPT when his kids are involved. This could not be more true than during our photoshoot, as all I could see was how in love Peter was with his family. And how in love they were with him as well. It’s always a pleasure to shoot a family that is so clearly tight knit and loving. Thanks for having me there, Babilo clan!

Zach’s 7th Birthday aka Jedi Pool Party

Every year I look forward to Zach’s birthday and visiting one of my favorite families to photograph. This year was no different - except this time Amanda and Aaron had finally moved into their beautiful home . . . with a pool! It turns out Zach is a huge Star Wars fan, so the swimming noodles were really light sabers and Zach was really Luke Skywalker (take a look at the first photo and tell me he does not look exactly like what you’d imagine a young Mark Hamill to look like). It was the perfect and so much fun.

“I proposed using Powerpoint.”

Yes. That is real, and it is the best. Turns out Ed decided to practice a presentation for “work” with Lynn. He got through the entire pitch and transitioned to the final slide which displayed “Will you marry me?” Unfortunately and hilariously, this slide actually made sense in the presentation’s context . . . so Lynn didn’t even realize what was happening. It took a few tries (plus a Pusheen cat w/ a donut), but it did eventually click and now they are happily engaged.

Ed and Lynn are one of the kindest, most down-to-earth and adventurous couples I have had the privilege of photographing. They are a photographer’s dream, and I had the most fun running around Downtown Los Angeles with them, re-living our first shoot together when they graduated from college! I’ll post a flashback photo soon so you can see how cute and adorable they were (and as you can see, still are). Thanks again Ed & Lynn for climbing up ledges, jumping in the middle of the streets, and being so in love that it makes my job the easiest, the funnest and the most gratifying. Congrats!
