Mikenzie thought about her fifth grade years before replying softly, “I’m in the seventh grade.” Followed by a soft smile.

"Cool!" Lindy said. "You know once I had to make a drawing and I drew a dog but it looked kinda like a bear and I named it Squiggles." She smiled back. "I think I've got it in my pocket. Wanna see?"

"Oh, but I think it is," Lilo flashed a grin, leaning in to inspect the child’s hair. "Aw, look at that! Your hair’s already graying and everything.”

She laughed,” Yeah, uh, sure, I’m sure that’s it.” She gave an affirmative nod as she thought of Myrtle. Lilo didn’t really believe what she was saying though. The lies just slipped from her mouth now days, she hardly noticed them. 

"It’s not a bad quality.” Lilo drawled out, smiling a bit.”I’m just not used to it is all.”

Lilo laughed, running a hand through her hair, her eyes lit up a bit. “I suppose that the beach would be the best place.”

"No it's not!" Lindy frowned, taking it seriously. "It's brown." A sigh and a roll of her eyes, "Of course that's it. I may not be pretty or smart like Astrid but I know stuff, okay? I know stuff."

Another nod. "Well then you had better get used to it, Lilo! I'm here for four weeks and yeah..." She trailed off. "Ooh! Can we go to the beach, then?"

Hazel managed to give Lindy a big smile. “Thank you so much Lindy,” she said softly. But then in a louder happier voice she said, “I didn’t even know chocolate flavored Kool-Aid existed! I know I’ll feel loads better having some!” She took her super big glass of chocolate Kool-Aid in her hand and took a big long drink of it, finishing almost the whole glass. She was amazed how much truly better she did feel after drinking it. It was even better than chocolate milk. The taste was different, and she loved it.

“Wow!” She gasped, once she had finished. “That was the best thing I’ve ever drank like ever! I can see why it cheers you up!” She realized she was feeling a lot better – she was still worried and upset about things but the chocolate Kool-Aid had made her feel better. She had a great friend like Lindy. She was going to be okay.

"Told you that it'd work," Lindy said as she filled a glass for herself. "Yeah, 'Kota accidentally came across it one day and he was sold forever, or so he told me." Lindy joined Hazel at the table. "You'll be fine, Hazel. Mommy's good when it comes to stuff like that, I promise."

I’m leaving on a 4 week holiday on Tuesday. I won’t have internet though. I shall attempt to set up a queue but I do not know if it’s going to work, seeing as my internet is being sucky.

If it doesn’t work, I’ll just crank out replies the moment I get back from my vacation. Most of you know me and know how fast I reply I have no life, I know xD so yeah, y’all won’t have to worry about that.

"Good, I’ll kick his butt if he messes with you, he needs to learn to pick on people his own size. If he does anything too mean and I’m not around, kick ‘im in the shin and come find me" she nods, her tone serious. Lips cracking into a smile as she laughed softly “That was me alright, he went down like a rock, didn’t he?" she asked, smiling brightly to the girl “Thanks kid".

Lindy jumped up and down now. "I don't like Jason!" She proclaimed. "He thumped 'Kota on the head with his sword! They were, like, best friends! Best friends don't do that to each other! I mean, you don't see me strangle Julia with grape vines, do you?!"

She pouted, but then she brightened up, "Yes he did! It was way awesome. And you're welcome." Lindy nodded once, "I'll promise that I'll kick him and then I'll run to you." 

After a moment, she tacked on: "Just as fast as Dash from The Incredibles!"

Hazel let Lindy steer her out of the room to the kitchen. She felt really numb and scared. Ivy wouldn’t be able too, would she? And if she did… Hazel still wanted to talk about it.

She sat at the kitchen table, trying to remain calm. “What kind of flavors do you have?” She asked. “I’d like a super big glass of Kool-Aid.” Maybe having Kool-Aid would cheer her up. And then she could try to be brave and talk about it.

Lindy didn't respond, she just fashioned Hazel a superduper big glass of Kool-Aid. She chose the chocolate flavored one. It always tended to cheer her up the best.

"Here you go. I gave you chocolate. Because that always tends to cheer me up. The blue and the red one are ordinary flavors. And you look like you needed chocolate flavored Kool-Aid."

Selina listened carefully, bending down to be at eye level with the girl as she told her story. Selina had a soft side for kids, it was the older campers she couldn’t tolerate. “Octavian is a loser" she responded and nodded her head “Ignore him, if he messes with you gain, tell me and I’ll take care of him, okay?" she smiled lightly.

"I don't like him," Lindy concluded. "So yeah, I'll totally come to you if he's being a butthead again." She nodded. "You're...aren't you that person who beat Jason Grace the other day? If so, then I think you're way awesomer than him."

"A little bit of both, I think," She shrugged before pulling a face and adding that she was Dakota's half-sister. "You know, from the fifth Cohort." Then she launched into an explanation about how Octavian stole her Kool-Aid. Again. Stupid Octavian...

"Just passed into fifth grade." It wasn't a lie, per se. Lindy did go to school in New Rome. "What about yourself?"

“Um I’m not sure they’ll let me,” she whispered, hugging Lindy tightly back. She was glad Lindy had wrapped her arms around her in a hug. She needed it. She followed Lindy out, gulping and gasping as she fought to stop crying. Would she be able too? Would her parents get mad at Ivy too? Hazel wondered if she should tell what was going on. But right now she would really like some Kool-Aid with her friend.

"I'm sure I could make them change their mind. I'm very persuasive," Ivy smiled. "Why don't you get some Kool-Aid with Lindy, Hazel. I'll call you once I'm finished talking to your parents."

Taking that as a cue to go, Lindy softly steered Hazel towards the kitchen.
