“I’m Staying With You.” Loki x Gender Neutral Reader (Third Person)
A/N: this didn’t go the way I had originally planned, but I think it’s a more angsty direction and I haven’t wrote angst in a while. >:0)
SPOILERS FOR THE NEW LOKI TV SHOW

Context: this happens slightly before Ragnarok
Nothing prepared them for this moment, Loki on one knee in front of them.
Loki decided to take them to Asgard for a little vacation, showing his lover his favorite parts of home. They fell in love with his home world, their eyes gleaming with joy at each new discovery. Loki knew he was making the right decision; he wanted to share his throne with his other half.
Here he was, in-front of them with his heart in his hands.
That answer made Loki’s heart swell with joy, something he felt often with the love of his life.
As he slid the ring on his beloved’s finger, some part of him felt healing. He knew for as long as they lived, sharing the throne would keep them as safe as possible.
A commotion is made behind them and they see soldiers and yellow doorways. Loki quickly stands in-front of spouse-to-be, grabbing daggers. Loki is quickly knocked down and a strange collar is put on his neck. He hears his lover scream out for him, before he sees them unconscious in-front of him. His partner is roughly grabbed and dragged towards the yellow portals. Rage begins to burn through his body, and he tries to fight his restraints. He screams obscenities at the soldiers that have begun to lead him to the same doorway.
The first thing he sees is a lobby and the love of his life being dragged to a different place. Confusion, anger, and so much more causes him to be stunned.
The process of going through this strange place is a blur, but he’s now in a different brown suit. He waits in a court room and his lover is guided in; now awake and in tears. “Loki?!”
“My dove, are you alright?”
“We’ll get out of here, I promise.” They both are forced into small stands, and a woman addresses them.
“Loki Laufyson and his future spouse, are you guilty of committing crimes against the Sacred Timeline?”
“What? We just got engaged! He hasn’t done anything wrong, neither have I!”
“You have created an alternate timeline by causing that event. So, are you guilty or not guilty?”
“So I’m not allowed to marry Loki? Is he not allowed to be happy?!”
“To answer your question, it’s against the Sacred Timeline.” His lover’s eyes meet his and he feels his heart drop.
“Then yes, we’re guilty.”
“Then on behalf of the Time Keepers: you are sentenced to pruning.” Both of them are grabbed roughly and forced to stand on the side of the court room.
“Loki, please what’s happening?!” A sharp burning sensation begins in their abdomen, and they see Loki’s world collapse. Before he could say anything to them, they were gone. A sharp gasp leaves him and he falls on his knees. Tears fall down his face and a scream builds in his chest. The same burn his beloved once felt has begun to consume him; he closes his eyes and lets go.
His eyes open, and he sees his spouse-to-be lying beside him on the ground. He quickly sits up and pulls them into his lap, brushing their hair away. “My love, wake up, please.” He leans down and presses a kiss to their lips, causing their eyes to flutter.
“I’m not sure.” They sit up and Loki pulls them into his arms. “I’m staying with you, alright?”
“Loki, there’s a dark cloud-“ He turns and sees the dark clouded beast creeping up to them.
“Like I said, I’m staying with you.” Their lips meet one last time and their foreheads press together.
“And I love you.” He holds them tightly as it grows colder, they close their eyes.
Soon, that darkness consumes them and everything goes silent.
