Hi there fellas. I'm happy to announce that I've finally finished up my OC's lore, and even wrote an article about it! It has a lot about Belos's and my OC's relationship. You can take a look if you're interested! This is a very important post for me, as it basically summarises everything I've written about Reina and her story so far.
I also have a russian translation under the cut:)
I might still update this version, but for now this is what I have!
This is an information page about my made up original character, Reina. It holds detailed descriptions regarding her storyline, and holds th
Эта статья содержит подробную информацию о моём оригинальном персонаже, Райне, и в подробности пересказывает её лор. Здесь собраны все детал
So I found out there's an Angel Tree happening where I live, basically you put gift cards from groceries stores etc onto a Christmas tree and then the charity comes and collect them close to Christmas. Here's a photo of the little flyer (I think this is a local thing in my area so I blacked out the name so I don't doxx myself lol)
I wanted to open 10 slots of YCH (your character here), and all the earnings from that will be put on the gift card for the angel tree, I'll take some photos/videos when I put money on the gift card and put it on the tree so you all know I made the donation.
Each slot is £20, and £15 per additional character. I can take PayPal or ko-fi. If you want to change the pose/expression of the OC let me know, the doodle is just a placeholder :) If you're interested just leave a comment here or reblog this and I'll message you ! I also plan on including a little card with the gift card so if you want me to write something from you to the family the gift card will be donate to let me know :)
Deadline for this is Sunday 14th because I want to make sure I have time to figure out the gift card and bring it back to the tree and such.
If you can't/don't want to donate here are the files so you can put your own character in there if you'd like :)
(also I know this isn't the most in character thing but I wanted something wholesome for the holidays and generic enough that any kind of OC could fit in there lol. I had considered doing a stream for donations originally but Youtube takes 30% of superchats if I remember correctly and they only give you the payout if you make a certain amount, and I also didn't want to run into the issue of getting requests I'd be uncomfortable with so this felt like the best way to do this)
not super well drawn because I just wanted to get a few ideas doodled and wasn't really focusing on being on model, but I made these as concept ideas for a rp with a friend, I figured people here might like seeing these so I'm posting them here anyway :3
Sometimes, when the situation gets critical, one has to resort to whatever it takes to achieve their goal.
One of the reveals in my OC's lore that I was looking forward to, was that she got possessed by Belos in the middle of season 3. It happened after Belos returned to the Grimwalker cave, and found Reina there, who was hiding from the Collector. The two got into a heated(and possibly their last) argument. Seeing that she is sick of him and no longer wants to be his accomplice in any way, Belos decided to possess Reina's body for the time being, so he could freely walk around the Isles. Regina tried to fight back, but Philip was ultimately able to take control, and use her body to get closer to the archives.
Yippee, the magma is finally here, and it looks amazing! It was a pleasure, and I'm super happy I got to draw alongside so many talented people! These some doodles of mine:
And of course, THIS absolute masterpiece! I believe this beautiful piece of art to be the pinnacle of my artistic abilities! WILD CALEB!(with an axe)
Okay guys, this here will be my last Wittober post! And, me being the OC creator that I am, I obviously decided to add Reina into at least one of them. Overall I'm really glad I got to participate in this.
When thinking of a theme for "In-Between", I immediately thought of a rift that has grown in-between the two after so many years of being in an unhappy marriage.
One of many the themes I find interesting is a concept of a loveless marriage/relationship. Because this is sadly a very real issue, as some relationships fall apart over the course of time. Even in today's world, it is not uncommon for some relationships to eventually go downhill, due to both sides being incompatible with eachother. Some people are fortunate enough to end relationships, while others are not.
You know, despite the fact that I've mentioned Reina's ring as a key player in her lore several times, I've never actually provided much detail of it, nor have I shown Emperor Belos's wedding ring (which he owns). Well, better late than never!
I tend to draw both ring is a simplified way, but when I'm depicting all the minor details, this is what they're gonna look like.
Now, allow me to yap about this lil device. Belos created it a few months before proposing the marriage idea to Reina. This "ring" idea came from him not wanting to lose control again and be betrayed. So, using his previous knowledge of mechanics, artificial magic, and the Collector's help, he created this ring. On the outside it looks like a normal ring, but in actually it's something that can help Reina pretend to be an actual witch, and help him keep her "on the right path".
Essentially, the thing works like a tracking app for children. It gives Belos information about what kind of spell was used by Reina, where it was used, when was it used, and how it was used. It's downside is that it can only do so when its magic is used. If the ring is not used, Belos has no way for tracking Reina through it.
If the situation gets extreme, he can even immobilize Reina for some time, although this move puts a lot of pressure on the ring, making Belos fear that it might malfunction someday.
The ring's main magic capabilities are:
• Creating massive stone spikes that burst out of the ground.
• Magic blasts.
• Shield creation.
• Telekinesis.
• Fire creation.
(Also I'll be putting all the lore stuff regarding my OC/AU under the "lore" hashtag, so it would be easier to find, if someone is interested.)
I'm inclined to think that despite residing on the Boiling Isles for hundreds of years, Belos still holds onto his Christian values and teachings. After all, hate for witchcraft directly stems from religious beliefs. Hence I thought it would make sense for him to pray for time to time. Maybe he even has a separate space for that somewhere in his chambers.
I also believe he was frequently tormented by palismen souls, that were nagging him from inside his own mind. I imagined Belos praying for those voices to be silenced, as they were causing him quite a bit of discomfort.
I successfully sneaked my OC into the Owl House intro. Moreover, I actually animated it into the clip! It took some time, but I think it turned out fine. Here's short animation:
For years, Philip Wittebane traveled through the Boiling Isles. And as time gradually flew by, he started falling into despair. And I imagine that the struggle for survival made his circumstances all the more devastating.
(Actually it's an excuse to draw young Philip with his hair down.)
A timeline of how Belos' and Reina's relationship and view of eachother developed(deteriorated) over time.
These two went from enjoying each other's company to straight up loathing eachother. Though to be fair, their opinions on eachother changed over a very long period of time.
A detailed explanation:
Reina:
Admiration:
When Regina first encountered Philip, she saw him as her saviour. Someone wise, who could help her and teach her how to survive in his hellhole. At this point, she was completely oblivious to Philip's darker side, and only saw him as a mentor and a good companion.
Delusion:
This stage takes place after Regina discovers the truth about Grimwalkers, and has her first big argument with Philip. She no longer views him as completely innocent, but due to believing she cannot survive in the Isles without his aid, she chooses to let those "bad habits" slide, and decides to stay by his side.
Bitterness:
This marks the part where their relationship begins to slide downhill. After finding out that Belos tried to control her through over her via a mechanical ring, which cannot be taken off under any circumstances, Regina finally opened up her eyes to his darker nature. This left her feeling completely betrayed and imprisoned, causing bitterness to fester in her heart. Alongside this, some other not so pleasant events took place. During this period, Reina was at her lowest.
Resentment:
Finally, after many years of playing marriage, her bitterness turned to resentment towards her own husband. Upon assuming the title of empress, not only did she go on to scheme behind the emperor's back, but she also began developing plans on gaining her own freedom back, as it was currently limited by Belos. This arc of the story continues onto the present day.
Belos:
Affinity:
Upon discovering Regina for the first time, Philip Wittebane couldn't help but be delighted, as in his mind he was finally not the only decent being in this realm. Besides, being the man that he is, Philip enjoyed thinking of himself as the hero in her eyes(which he was). Unlike him, Miss Knave had absolutely no experience in survival on the Isles, hence she was practically tethered to him. And there was no denying that Philip was glad to have company of at least a single other human(other than his brother's corpse).
Attachment:
Over time, Philip's affinity toward the woman turned into a sort of attachment. Regina was the closest thing he had to a human friend. With around, he could at least pretend to have semblance of a normal life. But much to his chagrin, the witch hunter soon realised his attachment to Regina was accompanied by paranoia of being backstabbed by her. After all, of his own brother was capable of being a traitor, then what stopped her from going down the same path. After a while of this going on, Philip realised it was his duty to keep her on the "right path", and make sure she's kept under his control. He told himself it was for the woman's own safety, but deep inside, Wittebane knew it wasn't the main reason.
Disdain:
Although it was to be expected, this shift from a positive relationship to a negative one was still quite abrupt. Philip, now called Belos, finally came up with a device which would not only give Reina access to artificial magic, but also allow him to have control over her, making sure she wouldn't betray him. But unfortunately, Reina had a very negative reaction to this stunt, and didn't think twice before expressing her opinion in some very harsh and graphic words. This made Belos realise that keeping that woman under control might be much harder than he initially thought, and he would have to tighten his grip on her if he wants to "save her soul". So, he increased his control over Reina, which in turn prompted her to hate him even more. This type of a co-relationship slowly made them grow to dislike eachother.
Distrust:
As their relationship deteriorated, the emperor's paranoia over being betrayed evolved into distrust. With Belos' influence over the Boiling Isles gro, so did Reina's. So naturally, Belos began paying closer attention to his consort(although that didn't stop her from sneaking out and mingling in shady affairs). Notably, Belos trusts Reina much more than anyone else on the Isles, due to her being highly involved in his affairs & the Day of Unity. But even so, he can never allow himself to be completely honest with her, due to past trauma.
This is a summary of their relationship process, so ot might lack some details. Feel free to correct me if I made any mistakes!
I think I don't really need to explain why I chose this particular image. Additionally, I removed Belos' head cowl(or whatever it's called) because I think he looks way better without it.
