She found that trick overdone, but still a classic.           “Friendship matchmaker? Is that an E-Harmony for friends?” A hand moved to the back of her neck to rub a spot there, her head tilting to the side gently. She listened intently to the other and nodded slowly, her lips pressing together lightly. “Butterflies? She’s scared of little flying insect that the worst it could do is pee on you?” She frowned for a second, one brow arching forwards.

     ❝Could be,❞ Malcolm says with a shrug. Ah, now this was going to be a hard one to explain. ❝Well, see, when Jessica was little--around seven or eight-- she lived with her parents and had to keep me a secret. But ever since we've been together she's been dealing with hallucinations, and one of the worst ones was a swarm of butterflies eating her face off. It left her in the hospital and... Yeah.❞

            “I know you wouldn’t mind.” She shook her head gently and shoved her small hands into the back pockets of her jeans. She glanced away and let out a soft chuckle, lips musing together. “It’s just…Jess doesn’t really seem like the type to comfort a crying girl and do the whole positive thing. No offense to her, of course, but she doesn’t exactly seem like Dr. Phil.” She lifted her shoulders in a gentle shrug.

       ❝Ah... Yeah, Jessica is a little... Soft-spoken, but I'm sure she'll open up to you once she gets to know you a little more. I mean-- For starters, if you wanna get to know her I can be your sort of friendship matchmaker right now. She's doesn't particularly like cats but dogs are okay, she prefers evenings to any other time of the day--mostly for the sunsets--, and she suffers from a severe phobia of butterflies, brought on by her hallucinations because of moi.❞ 'Hardy har har,' he hears Jess tell him, but he ignores it.

        “…Right.” The way she said it sounded like she didn’t believe the other and trust me, she meant for it to sound that way. It didn’t matter how much of a damn rock you were — things would still get to you and break you. Zatanna might not be the toughest girl there was in this city, but she was certainly no softie either.

          She studied the menu for a moment and let out a soft hum as she found what she wanted. A cheeseburger, fries and some soda. All coming to a neat ten dollars. The girl wasn’t the type of woman to have a salad, pick at it and then end up not eating anything. She fucking ate. She didn’t really worry about her weight either — she still stayed skinny. All with help of natural genes and a work out she did every morning. A  cheeseburger was just what she needed. Damn good as well.

     Jess caught onto the woman's tone and she slumped into her chair, resting her head on her hand and staring out the window to her left. She wondered why this woman even bothered with her, especially now that she sees the negative responses she receives from the public. Most wouldn't even speak to her unless it was to shoo her away like some animal.

     Malcolm continued to hover around, messing with people. Sometimes it was stealing their straws right out of their drinks, other times it was stealing their money and putting it into Jess's hands. She didn't like the easy way of things, though. She got caught most of the time whenever he'd do this, but it's not like she could have yelled at him to stop now without looking suspicious. So she kept the money for now, stuffing it into her jacket pocket along with the apples and the wallet. Might as well try to spark some conversation with the woman in front of her, right?

     ❝...So you're a magician.❞
