So I had my top surgery in November and I had a hysterectomy on the 29th on January because my school's insurance now covers it.

I've been healing pretty well until the other day when I had to go to the ER for really intense bleeding (2 pads per hour for 2 hours straight) and it was actually awful because I had to have 3 pelvic exams done over the course of a few hours before they figured out how to stop the bleeding. They managed to completely stop it but as of a few hours ago I'm bleeding a lot again?? It's not quite as bad as before but still pretty heavy and I really really don't want to go back to the fucking ER again. My dysphoria has been almost nonexistent for the last few months but those 4 hours in the ER caused some of the worst dysphoria I've ever had. 

The one upside is the hospital and all the doctors involved have been ridiculously awesome about my situation. I've also enjoyed have the time off of class but I'm really going stir crazy at this point and falling behind and I really need to be able to go back by next week??

Don't worry about it at all, I actually suck at doing my shots because I put them off to the last possible minute and usually do them when I'm drunk or exhuasted. Hence, I spill a bit every couple of weeks and my levels have always been, well, level.

Hi everyone. It’s Nick here. I have been checking John’s blog and my blog frequently since he posted a very worrying text post on here a few days on. He has received many lovely messages and it’s clear that there are a lot of people he has had such a positive impact on and helped over the course of running this blog. Some of you care so deeply and I wish John could have always cared about himself and seen himself the same way some of you see him. You deserve and need to know what has happened. I am just so sorry it’s not good news.

John was found deceased today. He was the best friend anyone could ever ask for and I hope all of you have your own John in your own life. I can’t even tell you how much he means to me and how badly I wish he could have felt about himself the way his family and close friends saw him. He is and was brilliant. Let’s keep him alive in all the ways we know how. He has a very special place in my heart and I am so glad so many of you were touched by him in the same way.

Remember the positives. John would want you to do that.

I don't spend much time on tumblr anymore, and hence had fallen out of touch with a lot of people I used to talk to all the time, John being one of them. I sincerely regret that now- two years ago we talked often and I considered him a good friend. He was an amazingly awesome dude and I wish he could have seen himself that way. Depression and self hatred is a powerful thing and can hit anyone in any situation.

I'm not religious, but my thoughts and prayers to all his family and friends, and I can only hope that if there is something out there, he's at peace.

Any tips for going through TSA screening (for flying) while trans?

I pass 100% as male but none of my documents are changed, and I always have problems with the body scanners. Does anyone have any tips on how to get through in the least stressful way possible?

super late but just as a general tip for people in general regarding getting through TSA;

Wearing a binder sucks when you have to go through the body scanners. Depending on the type you use, it can set them off; if it does, tell them it's a compression vest that you have to wear. You don't have to go into specifics. Most of the agents always assumed that I wore it for a surgery and when they did a quick pat-down they were pretty gentle about it. They once had to wipe down my hands to check for gun powder/explosive residue which was interesting, but also moderately entertaining.

Your packer probably won't set it off. I used to panic about that and always took my packer off and put it in my luggage, but not having it causes me a lot of anxiety so I said "fuck it" the last few times I had to fly. Never set off anything. The silicone takes on body heat pretty well and won't set off any scanners because of metal (unless you have any metal in your harness, etc in which case I recommend not wearing that.) If for whatever reason it DOES set it off, tell them it's a prosthetic. You're allowed to wear it and under TSA's new rules, they can't force you to take it off. They might feel you up, which is awkward, but there are worse things.

I almost always set off something in the body scanner regardless. There was a paperclip in my back pocket once, so I got a full body pat-down. That was one of the few times I didn't set it off because of my binder.  The pat-downs suck but they're over with really quickly and it's not like you'll ever see the agents again.

As for issues with documents lining up- I don't have nearly as much experience with that. I had my name changed when I transitioned at 14 and that was before I really had any documents I could use anyways. My best bet for that would be to tell the agent checking your ID the story if the picture/agent asks about why things don't look like they match. It's embarrassing, it sucks to have to tell anyone, but it'll be over with very quickly and again, you'll never see them again.

Overall dealing with TSA definitely sucks, but it's over with usually pretty quickly. It almost always causes me a little stress but it's like the stress of ripping off a bandaid- it hurts for a few seconds and then it's over with.

Started doing body weight workouts about 6 weeks ago and joined a gym about 3 weeks ago. 

Lost 10 pounds so far (while gaining quite a bit of muscle.) Hurray? Can't bulk as much as I'd like while I'm trying to cut, but It's nice to actually be almost fit. One hour of cardio 6 days a week and lifting/pushups/etc 4 days a week. Still have a long way to go but will hopefully be close to my goal fat percentage by Halloween and then start bulking up so I can see some larger gains by Christmas.

Sorry I just kind of faded away from tumblr- been a very busy year. My family's financial situation changed a lot over the last year and it wasn't very good to begin with, so I ended up working two jobs while going to school full-time for the past year. I've been totally supporting myself since then though, which I'm pretty proud of myself for doing. The moment that started up I had to time for tumblr though, which is why I fell off the radar again. :p

Wasn't able to get my touchup for my top surgery over winter break sadly, since I couldn't get enough time off of work, but hopefully I can at the end of this summer (though it may be pushed back til next winter break again) I can probably get the time off work now but I can't afford the time off work. it's a mixed bag there. 

overall things have been good on my end though- I feel very behind though haha.
