Sorry to put this on you but I have an honest question about depression an suicide. Isn't it completely possible for it to be a alternative for someone. Can't there be someone out there who genuinely is tired and doesn't want to continue. I know there is beauty and wonderful things in this world. There are things to look forward to. There will be more pain but also more laughter. But what if I'm not interested?

well… well first off, i’d say, seek professional help immediately. because i am wildly unqualified to answer your question with anything but experience. and first off, my experience says, if you are in such a deep and dark place where you say things like this to total strangers on the internet, you need to be in contact with someone that can help you start to heal.

second, i’d say… you’re wrong. i’d say the things any of us don’t know, especially about tomorrow, could blanket every grain of sand on every beach of the world with bullshit. And to simply assume you are done tomorrow because you are done today is a mistake. a factual mistake, an error, a critical miscalculation.

i’d say, read Tad Friend’s piece JUMPERS in which he seeks and finds and talks to people that jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge – and lived. And they all say the same variations this: “I instantly realized that everything in my life that I’d thought was unfixable was totally fixable—except for having just jumped.” 

And know that this piece has kept me in my seat on more than a couple dark nights.

And i’d say – i’d say i felt that way before too, and i was wrong.

And then i’d tell you something i don’t even think my wife knows. this happend years before we met – shit, more than a decade – and it’s not   the first time i came close to suicide was on a thanksgiving night. i’d eaten well and then as the house shut down i went into the bathroom, drew a bath as hot as i could manage to stand, and climbed into the tub with a razor  blade.

As i started to cut, as the corner touched my skin and that jolt of pain fired into my head, i stopped and thought – y'know, last chance. Are you SURE?

And i was tired. I sounded like you, that i knew there’d be ups again and downs but i was just so fucking TIRED i couldn’t stand the thought of having to get there. I felt this… this never-ending crush of days that were grey and tepid but for some reason i was supposed to greet each one with a smile. the constant pressure of having to keep my shit in all the time was just exhausting.

I wondered, then – well, is there anything you’re curious about. Anything you want to see play out. And i thought of a comic i was reading and i’d not figured out the end of the current storyline. And i realized I had curiosity. And that was the hook i’d hang my hat on. that by wanting to see how something played out I wasn’t really ready. That little sprout of a thing poking up through all that black earth kept me around a little longer.

I realized then that it had been so long since i’d laughed. I was numbed out and shut down and just… i missed laughing. maybe if i laughed a little i could get moving again. so i’d wait for my comic to conclude, try to find a few laughs, and then reevaluate.

So I’m in the bathtub and i got this real sharp-ass razor, right? And i look down and there’s all my bits floating in the water like they do and i thought okay, let’s get funny and i got to work.

I shaved off exactly half my pubic hair vertically. The end result was a ‘fro of pubes that looked like a Chia Pet that only half-worked. I started to laugh as I did it. And every time i’d piss, looking down made me laugh. 

Because JESUS what a nightmare.

Shortly thereafter I got very heavily into Chuck Jones and Tex Avery. Way less chafing and way more funny.

jesus. i was still in high school at the time. dig if you will a picture of the chubby weirdo that was always giggling at his dick in the bathroom. that was me.

And then I guess I’d tell you about Dave, who did the same thing as me a few years later, only DIDN’T have my hilarious Chia Dick strategy in mind and got the razor in and up. And as he started to bleed out “Brown Eyed Girl” came on the radio and he realized he’d never get to hear that again so, in a bloody comedy of errors – I swear to god this is true – he got out of the tub, tried to get dressed the best he could, went downstairs calling for help only to find his family gone, went out to his car, and drove to doug’s house only to find doug not home and so, then, finally, he blacked out from blood loss sitting there in his car, playing a van morrison CD on repeat, until, by luck, Doug’s mom came home and found him.

A song, a comic, something dumb, something small. From that seed can come everything else, I swear to god.

I guess last I’d say… I’d say that, look – if you reached out to me for an answer, than I have to reach back out to you and insist you hear it.  Because it means, what, you know me? My work? You read my stuff and thought, well, fuck, if anyone would know why I shouldn’t end my life, if anyone alive is QUALIFIED TO SAVE ME it’s the guy that had britney spears punch a bear? okay – okay, then, so as THAT GUY I’m saying: Get help. Now, today, tonight, whenever – get to a phone and find a doctor that can try to help you heal, that can try to recolorize your world again, that can help you start caring again. All you need is that one tiny thing, that speck, that little grain of sand. the World Series, AVENGERS 2, Tina Fey’s new show, the first issue of PRETTY DEADLY, some slice of the world you’ve never seen, some drink you love, who the fuck will love your dog like you do if you’re gone, what if jabrams KILLS it on the new STAR WARS, the hell are you doing for Halloween, you ever feed a dolphin with your bare hand? because i have and I am fucking telling you IT IS A THING TO EXPERIENCE and oh god WHAT FUCKING FONT WILL STARBUCKS USE ON THE CHRISTMAS DRINK SLEEVES THIS YEAR – i don’t care what or how dumb but i promise you somewhere in your life is that one fleck of dust that can help start you on the road back. That’s all it takes. One fucking mote, drifting through your head.

My Thoughts on The Boys Season 2 Finale

*This Post Contains Spoilers for “The Boys” Season 2 Finale*

First off, before I get into spoilers, I just want to saw how much I love what “The Boys” have been doing. I loved Season 1 and I feel Season 2 is just as fun and crazy with more in-depth social commentary, especially with the character of Stormfront and her satirizing of alt-right conservative media. Overall, I love how the show combines dark humor with poignant satire of superhero media, celebrity culture, and large corporate conglomerates. And in many ways, the finale was just as good.

The show takes its imperfect social material and elevates it. Turning the macho grim-dark superhero parody that only barely deconstructs superheroes and never deconstructs the just-as-toxic macho characters like Billy Butcher into a show that is just as willing to deconstruct Billy’s toxic masculinity as Homelander’s fascist superhero antics. I think the show does a good handling these serious topics with sprinkles of anti-capitalist ideology. And yeah, the irony of an show with anti-capitalist themes being streamed on Amazon Prime does not escape me. 

However, I read The AV Club’s review of the finale and it raised some points that I simply did not agree with. And I’m going to argue them here. 

The AV Club had a big issue with the reveal that Victoria Neuman was the head-exploder who was working for Vought. They came out with it the belief that this was somehow the show attacking “both-sides” and conflating progressive politicians like AOC with literal nazis. To be frank, I am just not agree with this take. 

First off, I don’t the show did a good job showing how wrong Nazism and fascism is through the characters of Homelander and especially Stormfront. In particular, Stormfront was a character I was initially worried about. There is a risk in portraying Nazi characters where they came off as likable enough to where they can appeal directly to white supremacist and real-life Nazis. And Stormfront’s goofy portrayal as a Tiktok-using millenial-type was certainly running that risk initially. But the show cleverly pulled the covers to show the dangerous ideology that was powering the seemingly innocent meme-exploiting superhero to show how real-life white supremacists and alt-right groups use playful memes and social media to spread hateful ideology. And the show never condones Stormfront’s hateful ideology and always portrays her as in the wrong. Hell, even Homelander is weirded out by her blatantly racist beliefs. 

I say all of this to show how Stormfront is portrayed in the show is way different from how Neuman is and probably will be portrayed. Obviously the fact she is based on progressive  AOC and Iihan Omar, so we immediately are on her side, especially when it comes to the matter of regulating superheroes since we’ve seen how messed-up superheroes like Homelander and A-Train abuse their powers without consequence. Then, it comes the twist that Neuman was secretly working with Vought the whole time. Now, the AV Club believes this means that Neuman is going to be presented as just as bad as Stormfront. Which I simply don’t agree. I don’t see this as the show implying that progressive politicians are worse or even just as bad as Nazis. And I believe the reveal makes sense when looking at Vought and how Stan Edgar runs his business.

I think the reason why Neuman works for Vought is explained in the dining scene between Billy Butcher and Stan Edgar. In that scene, Stan explains why he is willing to work with an awful white-supremacist like Stormfront. Obviously, Stan Edgar as a black man hates the living hell out of her but the man is business-minded as hell. He sees how useful Stormfront is in causing divisions in society. And those kind of divisions are profitable as hell as we know in real-life how much media can prey on said divisions. Even though Stan personally hates Stormfront’s blatant racism, he is willing to tolerate it because her endeavors ends up aligning directly with Vought’s goals to simply make as much money as possible. The scene really shows Edgar’s thinking and reasoning when it comes to how he runs Vought. And it’s a great scene in general especially when Edgar calls out Butcher for his own white privilege. But this scene also shows why Edgar would want someone like Neuman on his side.

The fact is we don’t know yet how genuine Neuman is or was for her progressive superhero-reform goals before joining Vought. We don’t really have a handle on her backstory yet. So whether she is a genuine progressive who is forced to work for Vought or simply a Vought double-agent is not known. However, either way I don’t think it implies Neuman is worse than Stormfront. In fact, more so this is just a brilliant move on Stan Edgar and Vought’s part to curb the superhero narrative in their favor. Just like how Vought benefits from Stormfront’s racist beliefs, they could equally benefit from Neuman’s progressive beliefs. In fact, Vought has already been doing shady stuff under the guise of progressive ideology this entire seasoning (the blatantly pandering “Girls get it done” campaign, the co-opting of Queen Maeve’s gay status for LGBT+ brownie points, etc.) In many ways, it is a reflection of pink capitalism and how much corporations want to appear “woke” while still benefiting from a corrupt capitalist systematic status quo. Essentially, Edgar knows he’s going to get backlash for Vought’s attempts to take-over the world by distributing Compound V. So he wants to control the narrative by having someone on his side pretending to be working against the man but really working for it. This also parallels a lot of brands who claim to be fighting against a capitalist system but is merely paying lip-services to such changes and just another extension of a major corporation’s capitalist endeavors. Just look at all the Che Guevara and Karl Marx merchandise you can buy online. I believe Edgar is working that exact angle with Victoria Neuman.

And there was genuine foreshadowing for this too. This twist did not come out of nowhere despite what some people like the AV Club would have you believe. The fact that Stan Edgar is constantly watching news coverage of Victoria Neuman on TV. During the head-exploding courtroom scene, you can see every person Victoria stares at explodes soon after. After the first time we see someone’s head explode in the beginning of the season, it immediately cuts to Victoria Neuman. So this wasn’t just some twist the writers pulled out of their ass in the last minute. This was clearly planned. Besides, it is entirely possible that Neuman is or at least was a genuinely progressive before being forced to work for Vought against her will. She does mention her daughter multiple times in the season. It is almost a cliche how much sympathy the show pulls from its asshole characters by giving them a kid (just check the Honest Trailers video). But that could very well be the case. Regardless, I do think we will get some understanding as to why Neuman is working for Vought in the next season for whatever reason. And I am genuinely looking forward to it. Besides, this doesn’t even ruin her character and we could see her human side explored in the next season. One of the things I praise this show for is going in-depth into even its worst scumbaggy characters (Homelander, The Deep, A-Train, etc.) to explore their human sides while still presenting them as awful people.

Also, I think the reason why Neuman takes longer to explode the Scientology guy’s head in the last scene while she easily explodes heads quickly in the courtroom scene is just to show to the audience that Neuman is the head exploder. Besides, there is no reason Neuman has to be quick to explode his head since there is no threat that she’ll be exposed for it. I’m sure she can explode heads much quicker when Season 3 comes around.   

So really that was all my thoughts on the whole Victoria Neuman reveal. I just wanted to give some more praise for The Boy’s awesome finale. The episode was full of fun, awesome moments that were super satisfying. The three female superheroes kicking the shit out of the Nazi, Homelander being rendered completely impotent by the end, Billy Butcher deciding to do the selfless thing to protect the child for once (right after nearly trying to murder him), Edgar pointing out as a black man how little he can lash out, The Deep getting cucked out of The Seven, etc. I loved what the Season 2 finale did. I am looking forward to Season 3. Let me know what you think. I would love to hear your thoughts.

My Take on the New Sanders Sides Video!

So like a lot of the fandom, I was excited about the new Sander Sides video. Especially after I found out from my brother that this video would introduce a new Dark Side. But I wasn’t expecting to get as emotionally involved with this video as I was. I’ve been rewatching this video so many times. And it gets better with every watch. This was definitely a powerful video for me and it came at a very appropriate time. Let me explain.

This video came out after I had just gone through a really painful bout of intrusive thoughts. I won’t go into detail over what they were. But I swear I went through a couple of weeks where they just kept bothering me. I remember walking up and having a panic attack. Then, spending most of the day under a blanket just having these thoughts run rampant in my mind. And then, having trouble falling asleep but I couldn’t get my mind to calm down. It would sometimes even appear in my dreams. I was desperate for an escape. I even considered buying pharmaceutical drugs that “might” have fixed my problems in the hopes of getting rid of them. (Fortunately, don’t worry nothing came out of that endeavor.) So when I was watching the video, a lot of what I experienced with my intrusive thoughts was conveyed in the video. I’m not sure how I would have reacted if I watched this video during my own bout of intrusive thoughts. But after having a bit of grace period from them (they still sometimes pop up but they aren’t as constantly dominating my thought space), I could appreciate the things this video offered.

It was almost distressing watching this video. Not for any of the things that warranted the trigger warning. (I have a sick sense of humor so I enjoyed some of those bits and could appreciate the darker humor of this episode) But rather because some of the ways Thomas tried to get rid of his intrusive thoughts were things I tried. And being reminded of that briefly brought back some of those intrusive thoughts while watching it. However, I was able to make it through. And when Logan was talking about how little effect intrusive thoughts actually have on a person. The more I was comforted by the advice. Like was mentioned in the video, you can never truly get rid of intrusive thoughts but you can definitely cope with them. And the less you take them seriously, the less bothersome they’ll be. 

It was almost scary how much of this video I could relate. The scene where they tried to distract themselves from the thoughts by talking about “Just Like Heaven”. And then, unintentionally creating a connection between Just Like Heaven and those thoughts was a feeling I definitely experienced. Not with the movie, Just Like Heaven (never watched it), but I did make unintentional connections to things every time I tried not thinking about my thoughts. And those unintentional connections never helped. I definitely tried to repress those thoughts and realized that it only made those thoughts worse. I even struggled to talk about the issue with my college counselor and loved ones because I didn’t want to discuss my intrusive thoughts for fear of making it worse. Plus, that scene in the end where they “checked” to see if their intrusive thoughts were gone happened to me all the time. “Checking” to see if your intrusive thoughts are gone won’t help. The only progress I made in not being bothered by them was in accepting that thoughts had occurred and trying to move on from them. It wasn’t easy and took a while for things to get better. But they did eventually get better. Plus the reveal that it wasn’t Remus himself that was causing Thomas pain but rather Anxiety and Morality worrying about Remus. It definitely felt like the Anxiety around my intrusive thoughts was more bothersome than the thoughts themselves. 

Overall, I really appreciate the effort they made in this video. As someone who actually experiences intrusive thoughts, I can say they nailed the topic on its head. It was almost scary how accurate the experience Thomas had was similar to my own. If my intrusive thoughts ever return to ruin my day and imagination, I could always look back at the advice in this video for help.

On a less personal note, I also just love the video in general. I commend the risks they took in this video for conveying the idea of intrusive thoughts in the character. While I can appreciate the darker humor, I understand others don’t and that’s ok. If you couldn’t watch the video because of its various triggers, I understand. Still I love the video, I love the characters in the video, I love the song (the song was so amazing on so many levels. It’ll be playing in my head for a long time). I loved how Logan was able to carefully break down what makes intrusive thoughts ineffective and how he was commended for it in the end. I love the reveal of Anxiety as a former dark side (I think a lot of us guessed that was the case but still the reveal was impactful). And I love Remus as a character. I definitely think/hope they bring him back again. Likely in a Remus vs. Roman video as I would like to see how these two “brothers” interact. (Similar to how Patton was mostly absent in Deceit’s first video only to get a later Patton vs. Deceit video) He was a great mix of hilarious ridiculousness and creepy disturbingness. The hammy, chaotic Dark Side in contrast to the colder, calculating Deceit (also love the little Deceit references in this video). Plus, they outright state that you can’t get rid of intrusive thoughts. So I could definitely see Remus literally popping out of nowhere to give us a bunch of “juicy” details of things we didn’t want to hear. 

So yeah, here’s my hot take on the video. Hope you liked it. :)

Escape the Night S3 Q&A

So Season 3 is officially over, now it’s time for my thoughts of the overall season.

1. Favorite Character This Season?

MatPat. MatPat. MatPat.

Simply put, he was the only big Youtuber that I’ve really seen prior to watching Escape the Night. So he was directly responsible for me wanting to watch Season 3. After getting Youtube Premium and watching a few episodes of Season 3, it got me interested in watching the previous seasons and I’m now a fan of it. So you can say MatPat was directly responsible for me watching Escape the Night.

Even outside of that, MatPat was one of the smartest and strongest competitors in all of Escape the Night. The guy could deduce complicated puzzles while also handling some of the more physical challenges. He is interesting in regards to being the only person in ETN to die, then get revived back in the game. Even if they revive another person in a future ETN, they might not win the season like Mat did. I supported Mat from the beginning. He was smart, strong, and really fun. He definitely had the most memorable funny lines and moments from the season. What more can be said? MatPat MVP.

2. Favorite Villain This Season?

Willie from “Funhouse”. Honestly, no contest for me. The Man with No Name had a cool design and others like Lucy were memorable. However, Willie, I think, had the most depth and intrigue of any villain. His backstory is one of the most focused upon since there is a lot to show in the intro bit but also his backstory is incorporated into a challenge which is a first. We get this idea of a man who spent his life as a doormat and finally given power by the Carnival Master gets to unleash his repressed feelings. I also like the design of him. The guy twists his head to express his current emotion. Definitely memorable. Plus the guy gave one of the most captivating performance from the villain. Conveying different emotions at a moment’s notice. But even the “normal” persona of Willie is incredibly creepy due to how polite and affable the guy is. And of course, he kills Safiya with a hook which is one of the most memorable deaths of the season. So again, super obvious to me but Willie takes it.

 3. Favorite Episode This Season?

Also going with Funhouse. This episode just packs a lot of good into it. The villain, as said I before, is awesome. It features the resurrection of MatPat which is also awesome. Even the challenges in this episode are some of the most creative the show’s ever done. The spinning of the funhouse to different rooms which are all unique but also reflect the monster’s changing emotions. Plus the elimination in this episode is super shocking. Not a lot of people might like Safiya’s death but it was definitely one of the shocking. Another bait-and-switch from ETN. This elimination has never been done before and it was definitely surprising and effective. Overall, an awesome episode.

4. Favorite Scene This Season?

A lot of people are saying this but that’s because the scene definitely stands out the most. Collen’s death. She wasn’t my favorite, or probably most people’s favorite, character. However, she had the most memorable and brutal death in ETN so far. Not only was her death brutal with the iron maiden. But the fact that all of her friends basically unanimously voted her out. Then, they all forced her into the iron maiden while she’s kicking and screaming to escape. And the scream. Man, everyone’s acting was top-form this season. And this moment really shows it. Collen’s scared out of her mind and then, she screams her lungs out when she’s inside the iron maiden. Quality stuff.

5. Favorite Thing Overall About This Season?

The overall aesthique of the season. The ‘70s is a very vibrant and distinct period to set the season in. And it’s unique from the more traditional ‘20s and Victorian era show the personally did. This is reflected in the show’s overall aesthique. The costumes of the characters were vibrant. I love that each character had a distinct color scheme (MatPat’s orange, Ro’s green shirt and yellow hat, Nikita’s pink). Everyone stood out from each other better than the more mundane black and whites of the first season. Plus that colorful attitude was reflected in the cinematography and overall design of the season. All the vibrant colors in the effects, the mis-en-scene, the town’s design. The color grading this season was phenomenal. Definitely made it the most visually-interesting of the bunch. Among other reasons, it helped make Season 3 my favorite season. 

6. Least Favorite Thing About This Season?

It’s hard to say since I really like this season. But I think it’s the whole Joey’s deal with the devil in the beginning of the season. The way the scene is phrased it makes it seem like Joey is willingly sacrificing his friend’s lives to get a second chance at life. And it paints Joey in the beginning in a selfish light. It also paints the Society Against Evil in a more evil light than possibly intended. The fact is the way they phrase it in future episodes. They could’ve just said “Rescue Everlock and you’ll get a chance of life.” And then, he invites his friends for help. And then, it’s revealed that his friends have to get murdered. Like in previous seasons, Joey never intentionally wanted to hurt his friends. Season 1 was originally a simple dinner party in the ‘20s turned wrong. Season 2 Joey was possessed and didn’t intend for his friends to be trapped. Here, Season 3 had Joey willingly sacrificing his friends. It would be one thing if it let to like a Joey becoming a villain arc which would’ve been interested. But it doesn’t really lead to that. It hurts the likability of your main character for no real reason. Maybe they’re setting up a Joey’s a villain route for the next season. But yeah, it does hurt a bit an otherwise incredible season.

So yeah, that’s Season 3. The best ETN season. Excited for Season 4, tho. I’m hoping along with the other fans that it’s a Escape the Night All-Stars season. That’d be pretty cool. Would love to see more Shane, Destorm, Alex, and other come back for more ETN.

‘Escape the Night’ Intro Foreshadowing

NOTE: This post contains spoilers for Escape the Night (especially Season 1 and 3)

So this is something that I’ve noticed for a while. The fact that the Escape the Night intros actually foreshadow who are the first 2 dead and the final 2 survivors. Well, not every season. Only Season 1 and 3. Here’s what I noticed.

For Season 1, they revealed the final 2 and first 2 dead in a subtle way. While it presents gorgeous art featuring all the Youtubers, it completely distracts from the credits which notably foreshadow the first 2 dead and final 2 alive. After Joey’s credit, the first two names to appear afterward are Eva’s and Oli’s. The two survivors of the season.

And the last Youtubers names to appear are Shane’s and Andrea’s. The first two killed in the season.

In fact, the other credited Youtubers are presented in a vague order to how they’re eliminated in the show with a few names rearranged to not completely spoil the elimination order. I believe this was done to reflect the amount of screentime each Youtuber received in the show. With Eva and Oli appearing in every episode while Andrea and Shane only appearing in only 1-2 episodes. And so on with the other Youtubers.

It seems the producers noticed this and made sure for the Season 2 opening, the credited Youtubers names don’t reflect screentime. In fact, there is not any kind of foreshadowing in the Season 2 opening from what I’ve seen. Not in the credits or in the art of the intro.

So that now brings up to Season 3 and while the finale episode has not been uploaded yet, we have been confirmed who the final 2 are: Nikita and Matt. And I’m really kicking himself for this one. Because even though I looked at the intro for some potential foreshadowing to the final 2. I didn’t spot it, even though it was so obvious in hindsight. 

Once again, the intro foreshadows the first 2 victims and the final 2. This time, it’s foreshadowed in the artwork.

There is one piece featuring JC and Roi and they are the first 2 eliminated.

And then, this one really got me because of the last artwork before it featured Joey was one of Matt and Nikita. The final 2. It was so obvious but I didn’t make the connection. I looked for other clues in the intro. But never guessed that it presented as obvious as this.

And this final 2 follows the tradition of the last 2 seasons of being another male/female pairing. Interestingly, it wasn’t the obvious Matt/Ro or Manny/Nikkita but a combination of the two. In fact, it’s possible this image above could be foreshadowing even more since the image notably shows Matt running away from Nikkita who’s in clear danger. Maybe Nikkita’s might die in the finale and Matt will be the sole survivor. I don’t know but in any case, I’m excited about the Season 3 finale. Been loving this season and can’t wait to see how it ends.

There Won’t Be A Non-Elimination Episode in “Escape the Night” Season 3

You heard me. For this season, I am certain there won’t be a no-elimination episode like we’ve had in previous seasons. And I’m very confident about it. Here’s why...

Spoilers for all of Escape the Night (up to Season 3, Episode 6)

First off, let’s just look at the logistics. The finales for both Season 1 and 2 featured two surviving people (and Joey) trying to escape the final horror with their lives. It was Eva and Oli in Season 1 and Tyler and Andrea in Season 2. Going off of those finales, I’m assuming the third season finale will have a similar set up of only two people being alive by the Season 3 finale. Now, Eva, Oli, Tyler, and Andrea all managed to survive their encounters with the horror. But that doesn’t mean that the two people that make it to the Season 3 finale are gonna live necessarily. I think for all finales it is possible for the final contestants to still die and the previous four “survivors” probably would have died if they were actually captured. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be any tension going into the finale. And considering how different things are in Season 3 with Joey having a more antagonistic role compared to previous seasons. It’s entirely possible that Joey will either go full villain or the remaining two contestants will die. But that’s just speculation that I’m not super confident about. But what I am confident on is that there won’t be a no-elimination episode this season.

Because there will always be two people (and Joey) going into the finale. We simply have to look at the four remaining episodes to confirm a no-elimination episode won’t be happening. There have been two non-elimination episodes in the show so far. Season 1 had “Freak Show” and Season 2 had “Full Moon Slaughter” (not counting the first part of “The Masquerade” and “The Clowns Here Kill” as non-elimination episodes). The point of all this rambling is to express the point that these non-elimination episodes happen to make sure 2 people make it alive to the finale. Because otherwise if each episode ended in an elimination, there would only be ONE person making it to the finale alive. 

This might seem confusing since Season 1 had someone die in the first episode while Season 2 and 3 didn’t. But that is easily explained as Season 1 had 10 guests while Season 2 and 3 have 9. (Plus it can be argued that Shane Dawson was always meant to die, unlike the other guests.) This is why Season 1 is the only season to have just one non-elimination episode whereas Season 2 has Episode 1 and 8 ends with nobody dead. Now, it looks like Season 3 with its 9 guests will follow Season 2′s format of a first episode and a later episode ended with no deaths. But Season 3 is doing something completely different with the competition that makes it so that they won’t need to do another non-elimination episode.

They’re bringing a contestant back from the dead with the Lazarus Box.

We’ve all been speculating a contestant (probably MatPat) will be brought back using the Lazarus Box. And this contestant who died in a previous episode and returning will make it so a non-elimination episode isn’t necessary. As of “Twin Dolls”, there are four people (and Joey) alive and in the competition. Meaning if each episode ended with a death, there would be only one person alive for the finale. Which would usually mean we’d be expecting a non-elimination episode at some point? However, this episode and Joey Graceffa himself has confirmed a player will be returning in the next episode. By having a dead contestant (again, probably MatPat) return to the competition, the number of survivors is increased by 5. This means that a person can be eliminated in Episode 7, 8, and 9 of this season and still have 2 people left for the finale. It’s just obvious math. 5-3=2 (and Joey). 

So, to make a long story short, you should be expecting SOMEONE to die in the upcoming episodes until the finale. And who knows? With how the season is turning up, it’s possible 2 people that make it to the end could possibly die for the first time. Heck, maybe Joey Graceffa (who is turning into the villain of this season) could die this season. We don’t know. That’s what makes this so exciting. I can’t wait to see how this season turns out. 

...But if we do get a non-elimination episode this season. That basically confirms we’re also getting a DOUBLE ELIMINATION for the first time in this season too. Which is just as exciting.

Escape the Night - Season 3 Theory

Okay, so I know Escape the Night is hella cheesy and that youtubers aren’t the best actors. But, I grew up on The Nancy Drew and Carmen Sandiego games, have a love for puzzles and lateral thinking challenges, and I LOVE escape rooms. So give me a period piece, where people have to solve puzzles, and I am so fucking there.

And after watching the first 4 eps of season 3, I think I know who is lying and who is working with the evil. So if you want a theory and possible spoilers, keep reading.

Little Shop of Horrors (1986)  – Director’s Cut.

[…] Although [Howard Ashman] intended it to be endearing, he also intended it to be funny and not to be taken at face value. But when the plant ate our two lead characters, the early audiences responded with upset and anger. They’d come to care for Seymour and Audrey and wanted them to survive. But if our two lead characters were to live, it means the plant would have to die. In a phone call that I dreaded making, I had to tell Richard Conway that his masterful handmade special effects work in the final scenes had to be completely cut from the movie. It was a painful decision for all of us. For Richard and his talented team who has worked on it for almost a year, it was devastating. I then had to return to London with the main cast and crew to shoot a new ending in which Seymour kills the plant and he and Audrey live happily ever after. And the color footage and storyline of the extraordinary ending with the plant taking over the world would be lost forever. Summer Camp Island Thoughts

So yeah, I managed to watch the entire season of “Summer Camp Island’. My thoughts are I really like the show. I like the tone and animation style. Has a warm pastel look to it that gives the world a peaceful, warm, kind tone to it. Which definitely could describe the whole show. It’s a show that thrives on its cuteness and the good feelings it gives you. It’s goes pretty far on the adorable childlike aesthetic without it getting too intoxicating. 

I really like the characters. Oscar and Hedgehog have a nice dynamic. You really get that their the best of friends. There’s no hints of shipping between them, just a genuine, honest, caring friendship which you rarely see in media. Especially between a male and female character. Also, Susie is just a great antagonist. Definitely a huge jerk but in a relatable way. Like you’ve probably had to deal with a Susie at some point in your life. Never made her over-the-top villainous but gave her a more realistic jerkass nature. 

I love all the little details about it. The characters are likable and it never goes mean-spirited to get a joke. I definitely laughed a lot during moments of the show. Plus, there are episodes like “Ghost the Boy” and “Fuzzy Pink Time Babies” hint at a bigger lore to explore for the next season.

I watched the original pilot prior to watching these episodes. And I much prefer the retooling they did because the pilot didn’t work as well. The characters were less interesting or likable. There was this boring love triangle between Oscar, Hedgehog, and Max. And overall, not a lot done with the whole weirdness of the island. Luckily, the show made the characters more likable, drastically changed characters like Max (including changing his species), and got rid of any romantic subplot. All for the better, in my opinion. 

I will never get why Cartoon Network released the entire season for its premiere running 48 hours on two different channels. They are trying to replicate a Netflix model of releasing everything on premiere day. However, this does not work for a television station because there is a lack of choice of which episodes to watch and a lack of options to rewatch certain episodes without waiting for the other 19 to run. Luckily, the episodes were mainly episodic and did not establish a major lore yet. I just hope this stupid decision from Cartoon Network does not screw the show over because I definitely think this show should get a second season. So yeah, I definitely enjoyed the show. I hope it does well and grows a fanbase. It does deserve it. And if it gets a second season, Cartoon Network better not pull this stupid release stunt again.
