two sides of the same coin
so I had a random idea to make this since I was in the mood do something involving the hermitcraft/life series characters in the place of the Merlin characters. This is heavily based on the eps from the show Merlin since I'm a very big fan of the show and love doing crossovers.
Definally planning a bit more of an happier ended compare to the show, some tags will change as time goes on.
the main line up for this that I have are:
Merlin - Scar
Arthur - Grian
Uthur - Doc
Gaius - Xisumavoid
Morgana - Pearl
Gwen - BigB
Lancelot - Cub
Gwaine - Scott
Percival - Jimmy
Leon - Mumbo
Elyan - Joel
Morgause - Lizzie
Mordred - Gem
Nimueh - Martyn
Agravaine - Ren
Hunith - Cleo
Balinor - Etho
Chapter 1
Scar walked down the winding lane leading to the gates of a castle, he sighed to himself as he held the straps of his backpack marveling at the beauty around him, he passed through the market place bustling with activity. He knew this place would be his new home having been sent here by his mother more so for his own safety.Â
As he passed the square he saw a crowd gathered around followed by the sounds of trumpets followed by the sounds of drums as he watched a man being led out by two knights. Scar watched in surprise as to what was going on as they led the man to the middle of the square.
âLet this serve as a lesson to allâ A voice bellowed from above, Scar turned his head to look at where the voice was coming from, a tall man with greenish skin stood on the balcony overlooking the square. Scar had a bad feeling about this.Â
âthis man before you is guilty of conspiring to use enchantments and magicâ The man continued âAnd with a concordance to our laws, I Doc here have decreed that such practices are banned on penalty of deathâÂ
Scar looked worried as he continued watching and listening to what was going on, he knew his mother had sent him here to be safe but how could he be safe when his very existence meant death in this kingdom.
âFor the crime of sorcery, there is only one sentence I can passâ Doc said before nodding to the knight holding the accused man. Scarâs eyes followed the direction as they landed on the man kneeling at the chopping block, Scarâs heart felt as if it had skipped a beat. He knew what was going to happen but he couldnât turn his eyes away as he watched the axe came down.Â
Scar couldnât believe how cruel this place could be, he heard the king continue to speak but he barely heard him, his mind thought to the man who had just been killed. It wasnât long before a wailing could be heard turning his attention to an older woman who he could only assume was the manâs mother who turned to curse at the king.Â
Scar couldnât help but feel sorry for the woman, he knew loss having seen it in his small village where heâd grown up with his mother. He heard the womanâs words as she swore that the king would suffer the same loss, before she could be captured she mentioned a few words before her eyes turned gold and she vanished in a puff of smoke and wind.
Fear seemed to grip those around him and from what he could tell the king also seemed afraid. Scar moved away feeling uneasy but he knew that he had somewhere to be and needed to get there. He travelled inside heading down a few hallways before coming to a door, he slowly opened the door hoping he had the right place.Â
The room was filled with many objects which seemed to be used for healing and what not, he slowly entered the room and looked around before his eyes landed towards a wooden balcony with an older man standing on top. He seemed to be wearing a helmet of some kind though Scar felt it seemed odd. He noticed that the man hadnât yet noticed him, he wondered if he should say something or wait till the man noticed him.
After a minute or so Scar decided to make himself known to the man âAre you Xisuma?â Scar called up to the man causing the man to jump with fright and the balcony rail to give way. Scar panicked and his eyes turned gold causing everything to slow down while he took a moment to collect his thoughts and noticed what he was sure was a bed and made it more to catch the man that was falling.Â
Scar breathed a sigh of relief as the man fell into the bed, he was glad that he wasnât about to witness another death today though it seemed the man he had saved didnât seem too happy with him at that moment.Â
âWhat did you just do?â The man yelled as he moved off the bed and over to Scar who looked puzzled as he didnât know what he should say after all heâd seen a man killed for being accused of magic.
âWellâŠâ Scar trailed off unsure of what to say âI have no idea what just happened, just seems lucky that bed was thereâÂ
âYou do realize what would have happened if anyone had just seen that, you do relise I know exactly what that wasâ The man told him angrily, Scar felt worried and was tripping over his words trying to explain himself
âWhere on earth did you learn to do it?â The man asked him causing Scar to pause his words for a moment and look at the man in confusingÂ
âNo whereâ Scar told him.
âThen how is it that you know magic, where did you study?â the man asked him, sounding as confused as Scar felt, Scar hesitated âAnswer me and donât lie to meâ The man told him sternly.
âI didnât, I was never taughtâ Scar stammered âI was just born this way, I donât know what else to tell youâ
The man studied him for a moment almost as if not believing him, Scar hoped that the man wouldnât ask any more questions as he knew he didnât know what else he could tell the man in front of him.Â
âThat canât beâ The man said in disbelief, clearly not believing what Scar had told him, a look of confusion came across the manâs face âWho are you?âÂ
Scar looked at the man before remembering that he had a letter that he was meant to give him âOne secondâ Scar said before removing his bag and rummaging though it till he found what he was looking for and handed the letter to the man who in turn began to read the letter.
âIâm Scar by the wayâ Scar told him seemed still a bit weary of the man in front of him, there was a sight of recognition in the manâs face as soon as he heard the name.
âWait, you must be Cleoâs boy, you werenât meant to be here till next weekâ The man told him.
âTodayâs that dayâ Scar said sheepishly, guessing the time probably got away from the older man, he guessed that this was the man known as Xisuma judging by the fact that he seemed to know his mother.
âLets get you settledâ Xisuma said leading Scar to the room that he would be staying in. Scar paused for a moment âYou wonât tell anyone about what happened?â Scar asked him. He still was worried about the thought of losing his head.
âThat will be our little secret and thank youâ Xisuma told him softly, that seemed to calm Scarâs worried thoughts for the moment.
Scar entered the room looking around, it was to be his new home. It was very small though he knew it was still bigger than anything that heâd had been for. He placed his bag on the small bed as he moved over to the window and looked out, he knew this was a new beginning and he hoped that everything would be fine, he moved back over to his bed for a moment knowing tomorrow would be a long day.
A few hallways down a woman in a long dark dress was looking out of a window that overlooked the square, seeming almost lost in thought over what had happened earlier that day. She felt disgusted by what had happened and couldnât understand why someone had to die just because of some magic.
A footsteps could be heard behind her and she turned to see who was approaching her, she looked at him trying to hide the look of disgust that she had for him and his actions.
âPearl, why are you out here rather than in the hall enjoying the festivities?â Doc asked her softly.
Pearl sighed to herself softly âI hardly think the death of a man is cause for celabrationâ Pearl muttered âThat poor motherâ Pearl could only feel sympathy for the man as well as the woman from earlier.
âIt was justice for what he didâ Doc told her causing Pearl to scoff
âFor what, using magicâ Pearl replied, causing Doc to give her a stern look.
âYou werenât there 20 years ago, you didnât see what damage their kind didâ Doc told her âYou donât know what it was likeâ
âYou canât keep punishing people what happened back thenâ Pearl argued
âThere is no room for magic in my kingdom and until they learn I will continue serving justiceâ Doc told her leaving no run for arguments before he began to walk away, Pearl gritted her teeth
âYou know the more brutal you are the more enemies youâll makeâ Pearl yelled at him though she was sure it fell on deaf ears as they always seemed to, she sighed to herself as she turned her gaze back to the window. She could only wonder what tomorrow would bring and hoped that things would be better not yet knowing that dark forces were at play not too far from them.
Light pored through the window as a faint voice called Scarâs name, Scar slowly opened his eyes releasing that it was the next day. He slowly sat up wondering what today would bring, he slowly got out of bed feeling a little sore and began to get dressed.Â
He headed out of his room only to be greeted by Xisuma who was setting up his breakfast âI got you some water since you didnât wash yesterday and your breakfast is on the tableâ Xisuma told him softly before stepping away as Scar moved over to the table and sat down. He looked at the small bowl and guessed what was in it was very watery porridge but he knew he couldnât complain, a small bucket of water was sitting on the end of the table.
Xisuma watched the boy for a moment and decided to test something mostly to make sure what happened the evening before hadnât been his imagination. He slowly nudged the bucket of water off the edge only for Scar to stay up, stopping the bucket in mid air before a second later letting it fall.
Xisuma looked at him in disbelief âHow did you do that, did you use an incantation in your mind?â Xisuma asked him. Scar shook his headÂ
âI donât know any incantations or spells, it just happensâ Scar explained before walking away to grab a mop leaving Xisuma behind in confusion, he really didnât know how it was even possible.Â
âWell we really need to keep you out of trouble at least till I can find some paid work for youâ Xisuma told him as he gave Scar some instructions on what he needed the man to do and to drop off some healing items to a few others. Scar nodded and smiled before heading over to the door only to be stopped by Xisuma
âI donât think I need to explain that any magic of any kind is prohibited and will get you killedâ Xisuma told him as Scar headed out of the door, the warning clear in his mind as he went about delivering what he needed to while also getting a little lost and having to ask for directions.
Once he was done he decided to look around most to get a rough idea of where everything was, he headed out of the gates noticing a scene going on watching what looked like an ass bullying someone who seemed weaker than him.Â
âCome on the target is just over thereâ A voice called out from a shorter blond haired man wearing a red tunic with some armer on. The one he was talking to picked up a round wooden target and just as the man began to move the man who had spoken before began to throw what Scar could guess was knives at the target that the man was carrying.Â
Scar frowned disliking bullies âCome on donât stopâ The shorter man yelled and threw more knives at the target as he continued taunting the man and before long the target fell from the manâs grip landing at Scarâs feet âCome on thatâs enoughâ Scar said to the man.
The man looked at Scar raising an eyebrow âWhatâ The man replied as he slowly made his way over to Scar.
âI said thatâs enough, youâve had enough fun my friendâ Scar said as the man came to stand in front of him.
âDo I know you?â The shorter man asked as Scar held his hand out almost in greeting.Â
âIâm Scarâ Scar told him as the man smirkedÂ
âSo I donât know youâ The man replied.
âI guess notâ Scar replied moving his hand down to his side
âAnd yet you called me friendâ The man replied in a taunting tone.
âI guess that was my mistakeâ Scar repliedÂ
âYeah I think soâ The man in front of him continued to taunt
âYeah, I never had a friend that could be such an assâ Scar said, giving back the same taunting time which seemed to rile up the man in front of him, causing the man to stand an inch away from him.
âSo tell me Scar, do you know how to walk on your kneesâ The shorter man asked him, sounding more serious than a moment ago.
âNo I donâtâ Scar replied, seeming slightly nervous.
âWould you like to teach me how?â The man asked clearly not playing around anymore.Â
Scar knew this was probably gonna get bad and knew he couldnât use his magic unless he wanted to lose his life. Though he knew at the very least he could give the guy some warning as he backed up slightlyÂ
âI really wouldnât if I was youâ Scar replied ready to take action if it was needed.
The shorter man laughed a little âAnd what would you do to meâ The man said in a mocking tone.
âYou have no ideaâ Scar told him only for the man to tell him to be his guest. Scar moved to take a swing at the guy only for his fist to land in the other guyâs hand and pinned behind his backÂ
âYou know I could easily have you put in jail for thatâ The man replied smugly, Scar looked confused but refused to back down at that momentÂ
âAnd who are you the king?â Scar mocked only for the man to move his head close to his
âIâm his son, Grianâ Grian replied before knocking Scar to the ground and letting the knights deal with Scar. Grian smirked watching as they took Scar away not yet knowing that the man was tied to him though destiny. He turned back to his knights that remained and decided to continue his training after all it wasnât like anyone was gonna stop him.
