I’m not fine but I’m on my way
Chapter 1 - Painful Memories
Scott looked at the tall building in front of him and entered the building, this was a fresh start for him after everything had happened. He was attending Empires University which was one of the best Uni’s in the country and had a very good history course which he planned on studying.
He had also chosen this place because it was pretty far from home, there had been far too many bad memories which he didn’t wish to relive. He looked around before taking a key out of his pocket and looked at the number that was on it, the key had his dorm room number on it. He headed up the building towards his dorm room with his bag and suitcase knowing the next few years would be hard but he was sure this was better then what was waiting for him back home. He arrived at the door to his room and took a small breath in as he closed his eyes and breathed out as he opened them again
“A fresh start, I can’t waste this” Scott said quietly to himself, he knew things would be hard but he would take each moment that he could take.
He unlocked the door and entered the room looking around, it was pretty small but he was happy none the less, there was a bed in the corner with a small bed table. A small book shelf had against the wall and a table sat in the middle of the room. He looked over to the window where a small work desk sat with a lamp. He moved over to the bed and placed his case and bag on it before he began to unpack. He placed his laptop on the desk and moved to take a teal picture frame out of his bag, a pained expression came across his face before he placed the picture frame on the desk before continuing doing what he needed.
He spent an hour getting settled in and pulled his phone out of his jeans pocket when receiving an alert, he remembered that he was meant to be meeting someone about a job since it wasn’t exactly cheap living in a dorm but he didn’t want to rely on his family mostly being one of the reasons for him choosing this place. He grabbed his shoulder bag and made sure he had everything he needed before he headed out and over to the place his friend Shelby had told him about. Apparently she knew the owner and had managed to get him the job though he didn’t yet know what the job was or who he would be meeting but he trusted his friend to not screw him over.
The shop was a 20 minute walk from the campus and allowed Scott some time to get to know his surroundings since he would need to get to know this place if he was gonna be here for a while. He passed a small cafe which looked nice and figured he’d probably check it out some time. It wasn’t long before he stopped outside a small flower shop. ‘Lizzie’s Flower Cottage’ Scott noticed the name on top of the small shop. He guessed the owner was likely named Lizzie.
He entered the shop and a small bell announced his arrival. He noticed that the show seemed almost bigger on the inside than the outside “Just coming” He heard a voice call out from what he could assume was the back of the shop. While he waited he looked around seeing many plants that littered the shop, he was pretty amazed at how the shop looked and could see why Shelby would have suggested this job for him.
A moment later a young woman with long pink hair came out from the back, he gave her a small polite smile. “How can I help you today?” The woman asked, Scott guessed this this could be the owner Lizzie.
“Hi..” Scott stammered slightly ‘stupid nerves’ Scott thought to himself, he always was a bit nervous when meeting new people for the first time but always warmed up to them pretty quickly “I’m here about the job” Scott told her “My friend Shelby mentioned it”
“Shelby’s friend” Lizzie said, seeming suddenly in thought before looking back at him a moment later. “You must be Scott, Shelby told me a lot about you, I’m Lizzie the owner” Lizzie told him happily before holding her hand out for Scott to shake which he did.
“Its nice to meet you Lizzie” Scott told her before pulling his hand away
“The same to you” Lizzie told him “I just have a few questions and then we should be able to get you sorted and go over which days you can work”
After a round of questions and information Lizzie showed Scott around the shop, letting him know everything he’d to know as well as what times his shifts would be and when his first day would start. She had also informed him not to be worried if a guy with dark brown hair with a green highlight ever came into the back as he was someone she was dating but was keeping it on the down low.
Scott thanked Lizzie for everything before he headed back to the door, he felt happy and really felt like this could be a brand new start for him, a place no one really knew who he was or what past he hid. He left the shop and looked across the street, he noticed a sign with the words ‘The Bad Boys parlor’ Scott noticed three people though the window, one with dark brown hair with a patch of green
‘That’s probably who Lizzie was talking about’ Scott thought to himself, he noticed two that seemed to be messing around, one with dark blondish brown hair and another with light blond hair who seemed around his age.
Scott watched the man with light blond hair for a moment and felt his cheeks heat up a little and shook his head ‘There’s no way, not someone that cute’ Scott thought to himself trying to forget about the man as he walked back to campus, today had been a lot and knew he was gonna have a long day ahead of him with classes in the morning and his first shift in the afternoon. He felt nervous but excited.
Once when arrived at Campus he returned to his room. As he entered the room he looked over the photo frame on his desk.
He closed his door before moving over to the desk and picked the photo up. A sad look came across his face as if trying to remember that day “You were so happy, I thought you were happy” Scott said looking down at the photo. The photo was of him and a dark haired guy cuddling under a tree, they both looked happy.
Scott moved to sit on the edge of his bed as he continued to look down at the photo, he thought back to the day the photo was taken, he remembered it was a warm summer day.

Scott was sitting under a tree reading his favourite book as a dark haired boy with purplish eyes came over, he was wearing a long sleeve top with a small bandage around his neck. He moved to sit down next to him “So what ya reading?” The boy asked peaking over his shoulder
“Nothing too interesting” Scott told him, putting a book mark on the page he was reading and closed the book and turned to look at the boy smiling “So what’s the reason you're over here rather than spending time with the others?” Scott asked him.
“I don’t need a reason to come over and seem my handsome boyfriend” The boy told him with a soft smile and Scott raised an eye brow “Ok well I have a little gift for you” He told him excitedly holding out a small box and handed it to Scott before cuddling up into his side as he watched Scott open the box and his eyes went wide and he had a soft smile “Avid this… thank you” Scott was pretty lost for words, he took out the small silver chain with a small bat pendent and turned to hug Avid happily “I love it” Scott told him happily. They had been together for a few months.
Avid helped Scott put the chain on and Scott touched the bat pendant and his eyes softened. He rested his head gently on Avid’s head as Avid did the same moving his hand gently into Scott’s, Scott didn’t notice his friend Shelby taking a few photos of them cuddling together

A tear slowly fell down Scott’s face as he remembered the memory. He thought that they’d be together forever but as usual fate was a cruel mistress “Why?” Scott whispered sadly “Why didn’t you talk to me, we could have worked things out” Scott pulled the photo to his chest and closed his eyes “Why Avid, why did you leave me behind?” Scott’s voice broke into a sob “I wish you were still here”
Tears ran down Scott’s face and he moved to lay on his side, he knew it had been over a year since the day he lost him and even though he knew he needed to move on, a part of his still couldn’t let go of the memories that the two shared and but another part of blamed himself for not being able to stop what happened.
He fell asleep holding the photo in his arms letting himself think of the good times he had with Avid before they were taken away from him in an instant.

Decided to rewrite this chapter mostly because I didn't fully like how it was before plus hate to change a character since there's a different plan for them.
This will involve Flower husbands in later chapters as well as some desert duo.
