my mum is a fan, literally the whole reason she started paying HBO Max was being able to easily binge the eight films, which she does often.

being a dark-haired boy with glasses and a mole over my eyebrow, I was often called the main character's name by people, I still am sometimes by bus freestylers and such. I actively have to draw attention away from such an obvious comparison in that sort of cases. there's a photo of me in costume when I was very young.

ofc, my mum doesn't see me as a girl, nor does she understand how she is directly supporting an author's enforcement of her opinions (she says "everyone has their own opinions"). I struggle to determine whether she'd be willing to drop support for the franchise if she fully understood what I am. I don't feel she would.

I promise you, I would not watch the new series. I wouldn't download it, wouldn't bother with it at all. I want to leave this franchise in the past, but in this house I feel forced to keep addressing it. I'm scared to say my mum is choosing her comfort series over me, I'm scared of making her choose. I cannot take it away from her. I'm powerless.
