it’s so fucking funny that the beginning portion of the phm movie pretty clearly shows that grace has always been interested in and is also Not Normal about aliens (see: dissertation, classroom absolutely decked out with space stuff, very sweetly saying “welcome to earth” to the petrova line sample + how hyped up he gets when he realizes they’re cells) and then as soon as he gets the opportunity to meet an intelligent extraterrestrial life form he goes no thank you and hits da bricks

Untapped potential for Royed that is not explored enough: Ed realizing how Roy grew up and realizes he's dating someone who has the mindset of a prostitute/call girl and he's using those skills to take over the government. Roy being like that because of growing up in a brothal. Not in a negative way. No no no. But he looks at how Roy acts and sees it in a different light. The mind games, the flirting. But Roy still acting different with Ed over time because Roy feels safe with Ed. People always going that Roy is Ed's sugar daddy. But considering how Roy grew up, have you ever thought of it the other way around?

i admire how much fma03 commits to it's premise, there being an extra of the anime taking place post shamballa where ed is an old man and he has multiple newspapers clippings about the WAR OR TERROR on his wall aswell a portrait with him and whats a presumed political figure or other important person is such a small detail but gives us so much insight into what kind of life he lived and what he chose to priortize after the events of the show and the movie, it's almost sweet in a way, he commited into doing the right thing for humanity till the end.

I wonder what meaning Grace's name holds when spoken in Eridian. Like, I keep thinking about when they first introduce themselves, whilst still working on developing the translator. Rocky's name, as long and drawn out as it is, almost certainly cannot be directly translated to 'Rocky', because it exists in a completely different cultural and linguistic context. As Grace says when they first meet, he calls him Rocky because, well, he looks like a rock, and Grace doesn't yet have any additional context for what the sounds that make up Rocky's Eridian name might actually mean, and how or if they could even be directly translated into English. I wonder then, what Rocky called grace in Eridian, when he had yet to gain any additional context for what the sounds that make up his name mean. If Rocky is called Rocky because he looks like a rock, did Rocky follow the same logic when naming Grace in Eridian? What does Grace look like comparatively that Rocky could name him after? Did he just come up with something random on the spot? I'd love to know if Grace's Eridian name could be directly translated and what meaning it might hold on Erid.

I personally headcanon that just like Grace named Rocky Rocky because he looks like a rock Rocky named Grace after his first impression of Grace also. So my guess is that Grace in iridian directly translates to something similar to the r slur lol. Or dumbass or stupid. Rocky's definitely got the attitude for it.

I headcanon that Eridians, tho fast sprinters, haven’t evolved to be long distance runners because of their cardiovascular system. So seeing a human run easily for more than a couple of minutes freaks them out.
