dan being unable to discuss the 2009 phil leak without also talking about how cool he looks or how nice his hair is or how much he likes his style is like. we know, dan. that's the boy you fell in love with.
♪ OH, AND I DIDN'T! ♪
this can't be true can it
Apparently yes and I cannot wrap my head around this. You're telling me most of these teens and early 20 something's dominating social media do not even have a laptop full of organized directories of favorite images? They aren't downloading and playing with creative SOFTWARE rather than stupid little "apps??" They already can't navigate what was supposed to be the new standard level of technological familiarity!?
what the fuck
oh so this is why no one pirates media anymore
Pc is more customizable and has a bigger screen. It’s easier to block ads. I can actually read recipes on my pc and never think about ads while I’m using it. Typing is faster, print is bigger, an actually good version of mahjong comes free with it. Clicking things feels good.
I'm 28 and teach High School and things have changed in the 10 years since I was in school. When I was in school the average student knew way more about all digital technology than the teachers. I remember helping my teachers with tech issues all the time. That has completely flipped now.
Teenagers are now more digitally illiterate than teachers. I had to show several students in each class how to add bullet points to a document the other day.
At the beginning of this year I regularly had students call me over and say they can't find something they are searching for on Google because it didn't pop up on the summary box at the top. At no point did they think to scroll down and look at the other links or click into a website to see if they can find it by reading the article. They are beginning to learn but it was disturbing that 15 year olds didn't know how to find basic information online.
It gets worse the further you go back. Back when gen Z was in elementary school, administrators believed that those kids would be so entrenched in the digital world that there was no need to teach them to type, how to use email, or how to stay safe online. Then they decided that teaching students how to write wasn't important because typing is more common. But they aren't taught how to type, and typing isn't something you learn by osmosis.
No keyword use on Google, no ability to write an email, no understanding of customization unless it's listed in the opening stages of purchasing a new phone. It's not their fault - they've been let down from the beginning. I can't tell you how often I've had to help my sisters look something up because they didn't know how. I used to type their last-minute essays while they dictated because I can type at 90 wpm and they could type around 20 wpm in high school.
Kids today have been let down in ways I can't believe, in ways I struggle to understand. I teach college students, most of whom think their canvas inbox is their email account. It's an uphill battle that they have no choice but to fight.
Genuinely so funny to me that every single one of Percy’s siblings just absolutely hates his guts and wants to beat the crap out of him except Tyson

Lestat: I am an unreliable narrator. I love to lie.
Half the audience for some reason: I can’t believe how reliable this narrator is. He would never lie to us.
Percy jackson would NOT take drugs (including alcohol) that's out of character, especially when there's a better and more in character reason to have him vulnerable and honest (wounded and delirious after battle)
