As someone who spent most of his teenage years fascinated with World War 2, and spending most of his time doing research, Iām going to have to ask you to acknowledge a few things.
1) Hitler WAS a Military genius. Past-tense.
It wasnāt just his choice of targets. Had he spent the entire war as he had been in the beginning, he absolutely would have won. However, somewhere in the mix of things, heād started to lose his mind, and his tactical edge. The first signs of him losing it, were his bombing of the UK. He said he wouldĀ āBomb London out of existenceā and spent valuable war assets dropping bombs on a Civilian city, and completely ignoring the military installations.
Even still, he had a chance of winning. But it was inevitably his choice to invade Russia that had destroyed the Axis Powers. Because of the RussianĀ āSlash and Burnā strategy, that forced the Nazis to dig deeper into the Russian front. It was actually this front, combined with the Afrikaans front that spelled doom for his empire. It might be true that neither Africa, nor Russia alone would have lost him the war, but he was extended into Africa first. His expansion into Russia was, indeed, what lost the war.
So, it seems to me, either he began losing his mind somewhere mid-war, which very much lines up with the fact that his doctor was drugging him at Herr Himmlerās request, OR Hitler had NO IDEA how to handle a larger war front. Which is also very possible. Itās possible his early victories were purely out of him being perfectly capable of managing a small war, but being completely clueless what to do when things got large-scale.
2) Nazi Science has powered MANY of the 21ā²st centuries advancements.
This isnāt necessarily because their science was better, but because the Germans are astounding engineers. Even though we achieved the Atomic Bomb first, due in large to Albert Einstein fleeing germany, The Germans were still capable of making the first Jet Engines. Had they finished them, and deployed them before the war was over, Germany would have DOMINATED the air space, as prop-planes have no chance against that kind of creation.
There are, also, so many medical advancements that have been powered through the findings of the doctors, and scientists, who worked in various death camps, and labs around the Nazi Empire. If it werenāt for their careful observations and experiments, we would probably still not know how much blood the human body can lose, before finally going unconscious, or dying. Neuroscience surely wouldnāt have been advanced as it is. And without the disgusting practice of Eugenics, science probably wouldnāt be as far along in Genetics as we are, as I believe the Eugenics idea sparked a lot of scientists scrambling to prove it wrong through real genetics studies.
3) Hitlerās Germany isnāt a tale of caution against Nationalism, but a tale of caution against Socialism, and Communism.
Listen. I like having social safety nets as much as the next guy. Itās good to have a modicum of socialism. Itās good to have an ounce of government assistance. But most of the reason Nazi Germany was in any way inefficient, was because of the way socialist governments, and economies work. Look around the world, and youāll find socialist countries.Ā
Thereās at least one in southern america, and the horrifying thing to note about Socialist countries, is how desperately inefficient they are at keeping their supplies up with public demand. People starve, infections go untreated, Households go without essential supplies. Socialist countries do not operate correctly. Thereās a reason why socialist countries are racked with rebellion.
4) Adolf Hitler was a complex human being, not the epitome of evil.
As much as Iād love to label him asĀ āThe evil to end all evilsā, he wasnāt. Like you, like me, like Dernald Tarmp, He had a life beyond his clearly racist ideals. He had a notorious sweet tooth, and had a love of practical jokes. He loved the cinema, and spent his afternoons listening to the music played in his favorite movies. He had a deep love of animals, and owned several dogs that werenāt his guard dogs. He lovingly referred to Eva asĀ āTschapperlā, or Ignorant one, because she did not know of the things he had to order as Fuhrer. Read any of the biographies written by people who personally knew him.
Then, compare and contrast with Joseph stalin who had no personal friends, and was most noted for enjoying his afternoons listening to interrogation tapes, in which people begged for their lives. Hitler took no pleasure in doing what he believed he needed to do to save Germany. But Stalin relished in starving the Ukranians through the Holodomor in the 30ā²s.
And people hate thinking about that. Because if Hitler was just another human being, if Hitler was like you, or me, in his everyday life, you, and me, could just as easily become the next Hitler. People donāt like knowing that. They canāt take comfort in those facts. And weāve grown up in a society where people are coddled into thinkingĀ āOh I can never be like Hitler, He was this terrible terrible dude! As long as Iām a good person, anything I do is excusable, because at least iām not like hitler!ā
But you donāt have to take my word for it.
Iām just a jew, and we all know how distrusted they are throughout history.
