I am not Borat. I do not relate to Borat. I do not think Borat was a great movie.
Borat is not a representation of Qazaqstan.
Borat is a representation of how the world perceives Qazaqstan.
It's not just a movie. It's a visual face of racism against Central Asia. The problem is not Borat itself though, because racism against Central Asia existed even before Borat. Specifically by Russians. Borat is just a mainstream confirmation of that racism.
I call myself Borat because I know foreigners view me as Borat. Borat is how I viewed myself at the ripe age of 13 after Russians online mocked my nationality. Not much changed. Russians are still racist towards Qazaqs.
