Today would be a great day to ban members of Congress and their families from trading stocks, don't you think?
it really is interesting how most adults really only see child sexual assault through the lens of how it makes THEM feel. it's not really about the actual harm that comes to the children, it's about how they, the adult (the real victim) feels about the fact that a child or children got abused and taken advantage of.
like one time I saw a vid of some dudes who tricked some guys into thinking they were going to meet up with minors, instead they forced the two dudes to fight on camera. it's voyeurism, it's not about protecting children it's about the good feeling YOU, the viewer, get inside when you watch this happen.
or like I was arguing with some people about CSA being punishable by death. i don't care if child abusers die, let me say that. wouldn't care if they all killed themselves to a person. but there is a REASON child advocacy organizations will tell you that executing convicted pedophiles is a bad idea, and that's because it will lead to more children being killed to hide the crimes of the abuser.
But if you argue against THE STATE executing pedophiles, people start pulling the "ohhhh wow defending pedophiles. this the hill you wanna die on?" like no dude I just think about the effects of policy outside of the fucking feel-good yummies in my tummy I get from seeing someone I don't like punished.
i will admit...it's a little annoying that queer poc in media always has to be paired with white people, especially black queer characters...
I know this is done so that white queers won't feel excluded or can easily insert themselves/find relatability but when this just becomes the norm it sucks. before anyone takes me in bad faith I'm mainly talking Abt the erasure of poc couples existing (especially if they're both darker skinned)
(gahh the poc acronym kicking my ass excuse me)
anyway it's even weirder when the queer character of color is turned into a side piece for the white character or always seen as the dominant one in charge (ESPECIALLY if they are darker skinned)
just weirdness.
in the end it would be nice to see a little more color in mainstream queer art. I'm getting tired of the paleness or being the colored side pieces.
researchers: this condition is underdiagnosed advocacy groups: we'll spread knowledge that it's underdiagnosed healthcare workers: some of us will use expanded diagnostic criteria now patients: wow we finally know what's up
tabloids: the condition is mysteriously spreading. this is DANGEROUS.
youâd think that telling people to expand their music tastes would be pretty cut and dry but then you tell someone to listen to jazz and they call you eurocentric
youâd think that telling people to expand their music tastes would be pretty cut and dry but then you tell someone to listen to jazz and they act like you're trying to mind control them
Very many white LGBT people understand the idea that the societal concept that CisHet is the âstandardâ or âdefaultâ state of a human, at best, is a flattened look at the human experience, and worse a dangerous idea that leads to discrimination. Yet not very many of them seem to grasp the similar concept that thinking white people are the âdefaultâ or âstandardâ version of a person also leads to the same thing.
I love when people ask "how did you learn this skill?" I just started, there's no secret. that's it. a vast majority of the time the only thing holding you back is your trepidation to start.
If you hear a trans man talking about his pre transition experiences with abuse and sexual assault and you try to downplay it by saying âoh but that happened when you were a woman so it doesnât count as abuse to a trans manâ you need to log off and go live in a hut in the woods for a while
"Trans men have male privilege, they just lack cis privilege"
Male privilege is predicated upon what the Patriarchy dictates as male. And I think this should be obvious, but The Patriarchy does not classify trans men as male. To lack cis privilege is synonymous with lacking male privilege, because The Patriarchy only considers perisex cis men to be male.
i just get really concerned about the way that people constantly remind trans men not to become misogynistic but donât do the same with like any other group not even cis men
'AFAB Privilege'
*incorrect buzzer*
This is Feminism 101. If people deemed female at birth had privilege we wouldn't need feminism.
"transandrophobia doesn't exist because cis men don't experience oppression for being men" i'm not sure where in the conversation we got lost but we're not actually talking about cis men right now
the erasure of trans men is so crazy that whenever we try to talk about ourselves people will try and make the conversation about cis men and then act like this is a perfectly normal and acceptable thing to do.
"Name an issue that transmascs faced not faced by other trans people".
That's the thing though... I don't believe there are any issues faced by one group of trans people that are never faced by another group trans people (or even some non-trans ppl!)
There are issues that are more commonly faced by certain groups. I.e. transmascs are more likely to deal with transphobic discrimination during pregnancy. But that's not exclusive to us, some nonbinary people and intersex transfems who can get pregnant may face the same issues.
Transfems are more commonly treated as predatory and dangerous, but that's not exclusive to them either. Other trans people are demonized and get treated as dangerous simply for existing as well.
This is why we talk about the ways these oppressions overlap. People are constantly asking us to prove our oppression is completely unique in some way, but our point is that it's not! Neither is yours, I'm sorry to say. Other people face similar issues that you do. Which sucks that we're all going through it, but it's wonderful that we can be here together as a community to support each other.
There's a lot of separatist fear mongering that tells certain groups of trans people "the other group can't possibly understand your oppression, so you can't trust them, they are unsafe" which is incredibly dangerous rhetoric. When we acknowledge the way our oppression overlap, we realize we can find solidarity and safety nets together. Telling someone that other trans people will never understand their struggles is not only demonstrably false, but keeps them isolated.
We can talk about how these forms of oppression manifest without talking over each other, by inviting others to share how their experiences overlap. That is literally all I want. I love when I talk about transandrophobia and a transfem talks about how her experiences with transmisogyny overlap, or a nonbonary person talks about exorsexism or an intersex person talks about intersexism.
We can learn so much together by recognizing how these oppressions intertwine and fighting against them together.
idk man if your art style and aesthetic can't accommodate fat bodies maybe it sucks.
happy international women's day to international women
the wording of this is a joke but I'm serious in the sense of solidarity with immigrant women, refugee women, women in exile, women in the 'global south', women in all countries where women's rights are being attacked.
It should go without saying that this includes trans women, since they are women.
women's rights include many things from trans rights (see above), reproductive rights, voting rights, labor rights, access to healthcare, access to education and many many more issues. These are usually not exclusively women's issues but often primarily or openly target women and people read as women.
day barely even started and I already had to hear "thank you for being our wives, sisters, aunts" and "keep being women and giving birth and being delicate unlike us men" as compliments for international women's day
here's to women being transgender childless dykes forever and ever and ever
