Meet #Speeny, the fish with the #curvedSpine! She's very energetic and loves to chase food and bubbles, but needs to rest against objects that help straighten her #spine after, much like a human with back problems! My uncle separated her from the other fish in the larger tank when he saw her downward sloped back and her strange behaviour, and she's been excelling in her quieter, smaller tank! I've been so interested in her because it seems like she's feeling #discomfort or #pain, but has figured out a way to #pace herself to stay alive and happy. How often do you get to watch a #fish figure things like this out?? (at Hanna, Alberta)
More beautiful pics from that beautiful shoot! For these he used this awesome old timey camera and had to get the film developed. Then he took a picture of it with his phone and sent them to me and I'm paying them without asking him first! But how can I not?? I LOVE THEM!! #photoshoot #photography #model #chronicpain #film Photographer: @canadianportraitist Hair: @hryptr Makeup: @obsidian_artistry Agent: @vivs_actors_and_models
@ashlizche and me, when we're together. I don't think we could live together again because our faces WOULD end up staying that way. #lovemycuzzie #mycuzzie #mybestie #alwayslookdrunk #youhaveababyanditssasquatch #theseareducklips

Trump cheated on his first wife… in a church - WTF fun fact
Well then.
Another shot from our #photoshoot. It's extremely rare that I'll show anyone exactly how much #pain I'm in. Being home in bed allows me to not have to #worry about putting up my wall and scaring those close to me. I'm #stoic 95% of the day, but when I'm home, I'm allowed to just be me. #chronicpain #chronicillness #hidingpain #constantpain #nineoutoften #visualstory #sick
Sorry Sick Child
Hush small child,
Let sleep come fast,
So your dreams can quickly appear,
Dreams of health, and hair,
And working legs,
Will fill the place of fear.
Dream big, of life,
Of growing tall,
Of living out your dreams.
Of being cool,
And going to school,
And being on all the teams.
Let your soul mate come,
And follow along,
On this dreamy yellow brick road.
Bring your children along,
And watch them grow strong,
In your fantasy humble abode.
Conquer the world,
And save the world too,
Have all that your heart desires.
Be famous, a hero,
A pirate, a cowboy,
The one who puts out all the fires.
Dream big small child,
Hold nothing back,
This will be your last shot.
I'm sorry sick child,
I hope your last dreams are fair,
For this world is most definitely not.
Went to Kamloops with my fiance and his brother. We stopped in a town that we called Information, but it's actually called Field (I think Information is better). Took a couple pictures of trains, but also made this heart beside a river and snapped a picture of it.
Election Bitches
In Canada right now it's almost time, yet again, to vote. I've always enjoyed voting, since I turned the ripe young age of 18. I like pretending that I can make a difference. In that past I've never paid as much attention to the election battle, more just to the platforms. This year I changed that, and it really bothered me.
It seems that nowadays, the platform isn't such a big deal. The candidates spend ninety percent of their time bashing the other candidates, and the other ten percent travelling. The travel is good (always nice to have your city visited by important people, even if you don't really care who they are), but the bashing is ridiculous.
This made me wonder what the world would be like if all selections for positions were done this way. Job interviews, for example, would be done by throwing all the candidates in the room together, give them a skimming of a background on each other, and then have them all try to talk over each other about why everyone sucks more than themselves. As a result, the interviewer would chose the candidate that had the loudest voice and the quickest thinking. Really, none of the candidates could even know what their talking about, but because they're bashing each other, one will come out looking like they're the best for the position. Even in school, the person chosen to read a poem out wouldn't be the child with the best poem and a high level of maturity, it would be the kid with the loudest voice that was able to talk down their opponents poem the most. Does this child sound familiar? That child is the bully of the classroom. So if we are indeed using this process to choose our prime minister, we are chosing the biggest bully of the country to lead us.
I should mention that they aren't all like this all of the time. I watched the debate, which is supposed to be a debate about topics, not people. Harper was clearly frustrated because he had to defend what he did instead of talk about his platform. One main thing I took away from this debate is that the Bloq Quebecois leader has gotten better at speaking english since the last election. As well, in the paper today I read about a person who was booted from the Conservatives for possible links to fraud and extorsion. She is independant now, as the Conservatives aren't taking her back. The Liberals were bashing the conservatives because they wouldn't let the woman back into the party when there wasn't enough evidence to call the RCMP on her. Yes Liberals, that's exactly who I want in the party I may chose, a person who quite probably commited fraud and extorision but is good enough to get away from it. The funny thing is, if they did let her back in, they would be bashed for that as well.
Another thing I've noticed is the tweets. There are a few Canadian celebrities that have been posting stuff against Harper fiercely. This got me thinking: if the Liberals were running our country again, would there be a website called shitignatiusdid.com? Totally! Because the people of the world that get that upset about the leaders of the world get upset regardless of who the leader is, because that leader isn't doing the exact thing the person has in mind. I think the only person who could do that would be the person themself anyway, so really, these people are just upset that they aren't the leaders.
At the end of it, I know who I'm voting for, based on platform and past history alone, not on how well he fights. I vote not only for a person, but also for a party, which I think is what democracy was supposed to be about.
The Nighttime Freakout
Today I brought up the point to someone that they should make Kinect games for handicapped people, or they should at least filter the game options in some games if someone in the group isn't so able bodied. I was told that the Kinect wasn't made for handicapped people. Being a Human Computer Interaction Computer Scientist, I thought about this. Things are geared for 90% of the population, normally. I understand quadrapaligics, but even with that, don't somehow disabled people cover more than five or ten percent of the population? That includes morbidly obese people as well, how can they start trying to get fit if they feel immediate frustration in not being able to play over half of their new game because the step range is too far or the game is too fast? Well Timmy, your parents may have got you this game to help you get fit, but you're too fat to even start! How is that fair?
I admit this is a problem in the fitness world in general, but there are things tailorable for disabled people if need be. There's also more of a chance that some classes will be okay, like aquafit for a parapaligic. Slightly more difficult, but far from impossible. And at that, video games are already targeted for people who sit and play games, which includes (but far from being exclusively) morbidly obese people, unmotivated people, people who cannot do anything else (such as yours truly, a physically disabled individual), etc. Shouldn't games that help exercise the target audience of video games target ALL in this audience instead of only about 70% max of them? In technology, that is a terrible ratio.
These thoughts were sparked by my watching people play games on the Kinect. The Sports game, one of their selling point games, was being played, and when the list of games came up, I went through each in my mind and found that I couldn't do at least five of them. I went from feeling great and confident to feeling terrible and anxious about my handicap. Not exactly what Microsoft wanted, I know.
On top of that, it would be worse if games were made solely for handicapped people. Nothing shoves your problems in your face more than having to buy (insert problem here) friendly software. It's admitting you're different, so different, that things can't be even slightly modified to include you. You can't ride to school on the normal schoolbus, Timmy, you need the wheelchair accessible short bus. They're both buses, right?? Why are you crying?
This is nothing against Microsoft, the Kinect, or even people who aren't handicapped (or are). I'm mostly venting about how a new, amazing piece of technology seems to be slightly short-sighted in such a "non-prejudice, handicap friendly" world. Something that needs to be addressed in the future, for sure.
