Caoimhe Máire Siofra Aisling. A fellow royal, a princess in her own right. A girl who was also his fiancee. She was supposed to be his Queen and rule by his side. Something that he didn’t actually want to happen, though not because of her. It made talking to her difficult and he wished that he could move somewhere else. That would be rude, way more rude than he intended to be towards her. Part of him was thankful that her country was on the brink of falling apart, her title about to be stripped away as it would cause his parents to break off the engagement. Something he was currently trying to get her to do. All of these hopes made him feel terrible. “Yeah actually,” He smiled at her. “It’s a lot more crowded this year, but I like it. How are you doing?”Â
Caoimhe had ambitions and she did not plan on letting anyone get in her way, not even her fiance. They didn’t have the best of relationships and she felt a little guilty about that but she didn’t have time to invest in fixing it right now. She had hopes for the future, and she wouldn’t just give up, but it wasn’t a huge priority. Still, she could make an effort since they were both here, and he was being polite. “I’m well,” she said diplomatically; it was the traditional answer because she couldn’t very well be honest, could she? “I like how busy it’s been, and all the new students. I think we needed the pot stirred a bit.”
Who: Caoimhe & Linnet ( @andlinnetbird )
Where: Linnet’s dorm room
When: The morning that classes begin, before breakfast
Caoimhe didn’t remember when she’d started this tradition, but by now it was something that she couldn’t imagine skipping. So even though it felt a little more sad than happy today, she showed up at Linnet’s room with two cups of tea - their favorite tea, the tea from home that nowhere else could really duplicate, and knocked at the door. “I have tea,” she called, not too loudly in case there were people still sleeping nearby, but Caoimhe had always been a morning person.Â
It was the first day of classes and the boy had already thought about skipping. Though he knew it was much to early in the semester to do so, and it wasn’t as if he actually wanted to fail his courses. Just because he didn’t particularly like them, didn’t mean he was just going to fail. He wanted to piss off his parents, but he also wasn’t interested in retaking anything. The only way to get through it was to stop and get some lunch in between. Not surprisingly, the dining hall was fairly crowded. There was a significantly larger number of students this year, which meant he would have to take a seat where he could find one. “Do you mind if I sit here? Thanks.” He said, not bothering to wait for a response as he plopped down next to someone.Â
Caoimhe had her eyes glued to her phone screen - reading up on the situation back home in Hinterland, which was quite common for her - and barely registered that anyone had come to join her table. At least until several seconds after the fact, when she looked up with a belated, “Oh, that’s fine. I don’t mind.” She knew who Maxim was, of course, and probably ought to make a little more effort to talk to him but . . . Her attention returned to the article, although once it was finished and she had take a few more bites of her own lunch, the thought that she was being rude finally won out. “Are you happy to be back at school?”

History:Â
*parental death trigger warning
Caoimhe, as the younger princess of Hinterland, felt like she really had the ideal childhood. She had all the privileges of the crown but without the immense pressure she knew, even as a little girl, that her sister faced. Caoimhe was free to be wild and impulsive and creative and whimsical within reason, of course. Her parents encouraged that side of her while still teaching her skills that would be helpful in the future, as she faced marriage to someone of equal rank and the responsibilities that came with that. However, her mother’s death when she was eleven changed everything. Caoimhe was sent away to Genovia with her sister.Â
Although the changes didn’t happen overnight, they did happen. As Caoimhe followed the political situation and realized what was going on, a strong sense of responsibility filled her. She wanted to help her country. She wanted to make a difference. She wanted to be queen. Never enough to cause a rift or upset her sister - and somehow Caoimhe knew that Linnet wouldn’t give up the title even though she didn’t want it - but it was always there, in the back of her mind. If she were queen, she could do so much good; she would have such a platform and ability to make lasting changes. So she began studying the things that Linnet was taught by their parents, learning how to rule and reign and read contracts and think about the long-term, wide-reaching consequences of decisions. It didn’t come naturally but that made learning it all the more satisfying, and now all Caoimhe can do is wait and hope.
Personality:
+ Caring & Kindhearted: Although her memories of her mother aren’t strong, what she does remember has always been the strongest factor influencing Caoimhe’s decisions. She remembers her mothers limitless supply of kindness and has always tried to emulate that trait. Caoimhe goes to great lengths to help those in need, most often by taking her own time and helping in any way she can.
- Secretive & Impulsive: Caoimhe wants to change the world but she’s impatient and wants to do it now. Though she recognizes the danger that she puts herself in, she still frequently sneaks off campus to do volunteer work at the local children’s hospital and she has not told anyone of what she does.
Extracurriculars: School newspaper, photography
