“Tengo casi veinte años de tu edad,” Jasper retorted with a grin. “Créeme que es justo.” A shake of his head was given, a soft sigh passing his lips as he settled himself against a rock, his gaze moving to stare out at the crystal waters before them, his arms rising to cross against his chest. “Shit happens, Hunter,” he spoke again after a moment of silence passed between them. “It’s just how life works. I could sit here and blame myself for not being here to protect your father, to take care of my wife and children, blame myself for the hell that I’m sure I put your Aunt No through but it ain’t gonna get me anywhere. We’ve got a second chance here, kid. We’ve take that and do better, learn from it.” Another shake of his head was given as he glanced over at the male, a scoff fleeting his lips. “That’s not your job,” he mused. “Your his child, it is our job to protect our children not the other way around and that’s exactly what he did. But doing what he did, he protected your mom, Abel, all of you kids, and the pack all at once. Imagine if he hadn’t done what he did. Both he and your mom and Abel wouldn’t be here, the pack could’ve been in danger and alphaless. Don’t place that weight on yourself.” A chuckle passed his lips as his gaze returned to the water. “Hay is for horses,” he joked, before shaking his head at himself. “You most certainly do have us back, sport.”
Hunter shook his head and knew it was better to not argue with his uncle. He was grateful to have someone to speak in Spanish too again. He sighed and bit on his lower lip as he listened to what the older male had to say. He nodded his head a little and brought his hues to meet the others. “I know... and I know why he did it...and I don’t really want to think about losing mom, or abel... or pops again.” he admitted. Hunter’s expression turned to a neutral one as he heard the joke. “Funny , anciano..” he teased as a smile grew on his face.
