rn im missing being in a relationship & having that person you're excited to share everything with; i miss wanting to tell that one person anything & everything, miss being excited to hear about someone's day, miss sharing a delicious meal with someone i care about & watching their face light up as they try their food for the first time
as i get to kno my classmates better i'm scared. on some base level i was compatible with syn in a kind of special way & im scared i won't be able to find that compatibility with anyone else. or that im expecting that type of compatibility and locking off my options bc im too damaged to let myself be perceived or vulnerable with anyone else. normally i am content. i have let myself be single for nearly a year. i have refused to subject myself to Any relationship-related distress or uncertainty. normally i am content, but sometimes i am incredibly lonely

actually pheromone sensing works differently from normal olfaction, since humans in our world don’t have a functioning vomeronasal organ (VNO), we don’t have any data on how covid-19 would affect a functioning VNO in omegaverse AUs
Actually there is evidence that covid probably would affect the VNO and it stands to reason would accordingly impair its function. Briefly:
SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes covid, can only infect cells expressing a certain protein called ACE2
ACE2 is expressed widely in nasal cavity epithelial cells but not in olfactory sensory neurons.
Seo et al. (2021) studied potential nasal targets for SARS-CoV-2 using golden hamsters as a model organism (commonly used as a proxy for humans in virology studies)
They found ACE2 expression in the main olfactory bulb epithelium (MOE, your “normal” nose organ) as well as the vomeronasal organ (VNO)
Several cell types in the VNO were able to be infected and they also found significant inflammatory activity (macrophage activation, apoptotic cells, etc)
The specifics of how covid actually causes dysosmia are not known for sure but epithelial damage by local inflammatory immune responses likely plays a role, especially because sensory neurons themselves are not affected (Bilinska, & Butowt, 2020). Therefore I would suggest a potential similar effect of VNO dysfunction as we see in the main olfactory bulb
From Seo et al.: “Considering the function of the VNO, infection and subsequent pathologic changes may affect the behavior of Syrian hamsters”
If it stands to reason that omegaverse individuals have functioning VNOs similar to members of the animal kingdom, then it is more than reasonable to conclude that covid may cause them to lose not only their main olfactory function, but also their VNO function as well

this year, i feel liberated. i feel like i’m finally letting go of the anger & regrets & everything that had been festering inside of me for the past year. this morning was a panic attack but this evening is closure.
25 is a new start

sometimes i think abt what could have been. i think that i'm well and stable now, i'd like to think he is now too. at least better than we were before. and that had we been in this state when we were together, maybe things would have been okay.
but obviously i can't turn back time or change what has already happened. and it's not like we can restart either because there's so much history, so much BAD history. plus our lives are so so different now, i genuinely don't think we'd ever cross paths again. and i have to be okay with that. i'm getting to be okay with that.
i just have to stop getting stuck in what could have been. i'm already on a good path right now

We’re still trying to prove the concept because in the West, Big Business and their owners, The 1%, are screaming at the thought of having to give up a little money so everyone can get universal income that supports life - meaning jobs either have to pay you to put up with the literal shit or people can walk away from them without becoming homeless.
Our entire system is basically based on people being so afraid of homelessness and starvation that they’ll accept any shit job for shit pay.

i actually get rly uncomfortable with the way one of my friends talks to me esp w regards to my most recent relationship,
like during the relationship itself she would call me dumb/an idiot for going back or continuing to talk to my ex even tho like.. when i did try to leave, i got kidnapped (apparently) or i'd have to deal with self harm/sui threats or just literally any other isolating and manipulative emotional tactic,
at one point she even vague tweeted abt me and i remember being so angry and heartbroken bc like. what was i supposed to do? i didnt actually have a lot of freedom that con bc it was after the whole police thing happened. and so many people were disappointed in me for just "not getting out." as if it were that easy. at the con itself everyone could talk about "we'll keep you safe so stop being such an idiot" and then go back to their regular lives afterwards while i had to go back to my apartment alone and deal with the potential consequences of ignoring someone who had screamed at me and threatened me a few nights prior? he was so much physically stronger than me and i am hyperaware of that fact, like what do ppl expect me to do if my phone has been thrown across the room and i can't get to it because my hands are being twisted behind my back and my neighbors wont call the police bc they'd rather me just "talk it out." what was i supposed to do?
and then now, it's all "im coming over to smack you for being stupid/happy birthday i gift you a braincell uwu" it all feels very insidious and uncomfy 😔😔😔
i keep listening to psychology in seattle and currently this one is about stephanie's insecurity and trust issues
like i have insecurity and trust issues and i was initially understanding where stephanie was coming from like "oh shit erika's still friends with a person she's slept with god u gotta shut that down" so it was really shocking for me to hear dr. honda be like "why is stephanie like this it's unwarranted?!"
which got me to start thinking like.. was my jealousy and insecurity unwarranted? and the answer is no, my situation was completely different where i was actively lied to, given many reason to be suspicious, etc. but then like, as dr. honda said, even if my trust was broken and my insecurities triggered, i did not go about handling them correctly and that *is* on me
