thinking about armand’s pattern of choosing partners who bring about the demise of his world over and over. him allowing lestat to break apart the coven and reconstruct it into the theatre des vampires, allowing louis’ refusal to join and allowing himself to be pulled away, and while we haven’t seen him “choose” daniel yet we have seen daniel’s investigation break him and louis apart (keeping with the pattern trust and believe i hold armand responsible for ever single one of louis’ thoughts he tampered with and every lie and manipulation he’s told).
need to lestat to possess my body the same way he does sam reid this weekend
hello! to any librarians or Gothic scholars out there, i’m looking for some good nonfiction books about Gothic Romance. i have a good list of Gothic fiction from ann radcliffe to tananarive due but i’m looking for something to supplement those readings to gain a better understanding of the themes, structures, and historical contexts. also any research papers that you love are always welcome and thoroughly appreciated! this is just a special interest it’s not for any form of academic research so whenever someone may stumble upon this feel free to answer :)
jacob anderson big brown eyes thank you jesus
i am fully aware of how out of touch this is going to sound (i've been on this website for the majority of my life) but genuinely for every single one of my interests people are being 100x more normal over here than on twitter and it is so odd. i feel like the pandemic de-socialization that has impacted social media has this odd haze when it comes to tumblr or maybe its just because we've all been buckwild on here from the jump it's less noticeable. i still see regular disagreements on here but it still feels like people actually know what the difference is in their opinions versus somewhere like twitter where people feel the desperate need to retain the moral high ground and develop their opinion with that in mind, completely ignoring just how impossible it is for certain topics (or characters in the context of my current whirlwind) to be viewed with morality as the crux - or even that it IS possible to debate about things without putting morality at the the forefront. my whirlwind today is with interview with the vampire (amc+) twitter on no less than 5 separate confounding arguments, btw. but any discourse coming in the context of a show like that trying to be argued in a moral framework just feels extraordinarily silly because it's a Gothic romance? and they're all vampires? and i would suggest that it would make way more sense to view a lot of the previously shown and upcoming traumatic events for these characters and the internalizations that they cause to be viewed from a psychological perspective and discussed in terms of character analysis. rather than going 'lestat is gross because he fucks his mom AND louis is gross because he doesn't feel bad enough for lestat' maybe we 1. actually wait for the show to air and 2. acknowledge that incest is sexual abuse not 'fucking' and consider what the impact of that sexual abuse has been on the character and his behavior. i understand not everyone wants to do a deep analysis of the things they enjoy, they just want to enjoy them but many people are jumping into conversations they seem incapable of having and it's confounding!
tldr; i guess thank you tumblr-heads for maintaining a consistent amount of fuck-assery in your discussions that tends to trend intellectually! love ya!

might get jumped for this but there’s more chemistry in these four seconds than matt and karen have had in four and a half seasons… plus karen deserves better romantically and narratively than to keep doing this matty-go-round when she is such a driven character they just refuse to give an open road
listen i know the bear lost steam story-wise rapidly and season four while unquestionably cinematic is not exactly... yeah, episode 10 'Goodbye' is absolutely phenomenal to ME. it is so well acted and shot on a techincal level but it feels like this episode remembers what the show was once about and shows the ways in which Sydney especially has been woven into the fabric of The Bear and the Berzattos and thought things still remain 'unsaid' brought voice to the connection between Syd and Carmy in a way that has always felt like a second, smaller elephant behind Mikey. It's the first time we really see them argue, we get to see all of the understandings they hold for each other with Carmy knowing about Shapiro all along and Sydney always holding space for Carmy's trauma in response to his actions. The overlapping of "you're my partner" and "you're my friend" and the understanding that they are somehow inbetween and above these terms for their relationship. The 'want' and 'need' of it all. Ayo also does such a phenomenal job in physical expression as Sydney is standing behind Carmy out of focus as him and Richie talk, you can see just how much she is drinking in Carmy being honest and emotionally vulnerable and how it helps her to the point of acceptance in the course of just one conversation. Even the infusion of the comedy through Syd's failed cigarette smoking is showing the level of comfort they have developed for her to not be embarrassed because Carmy isn't her idol Carmen Berzatto he's a friend and a partner and a menace that she can be pissed at and say so. It's also such an amazing showcase of Richie's growth and Ebon Moss-Bachrach was throwing down but there's also been consistent plot lines showcasing that. I could say so much more but for the disappointments I have there is so much I see in this show that I will always love.
