The being with two(?) heads says, pointing behind him at the absurdly large maw grinning away, thick drool dripping from horrific fangs as it bolts down a meaty treat that the other threw. .... Yeah. Probably not a good idea to get close to that particular head.

Just a small side blog for Look Outside's Laurent! Only here for silly roleplaying shenanigans along with Morton and Spider (if others are looking for characters I'm more likely to be found!) Regarding rules... there aren't many to be honest???? It's just common courtesy stuff like don't be a creep and we'll get along, and I'll read your rules and respect them. Growls menacingly

Unsurprisingly, Laurent jumps at the sound, looking around fearfully for whatever made such a menacing noise. Equally unsurprisingly, Id laughs, not at all looking bothered and even somewhat amused at the attempt to intimidate.

Thank you sending this, truly. I'm trying my best, really I am but they do have a point in that I'm taking a while to respond which shouldn't be dismissed? I did say I'd write plenty last week but I caught that bug that's been going around which made performing even basic tasks a nightmare. Hopefully this week can be a little different but thank you again for sending this, it did help. 💕

Answer yo ask damn

Okay, answering out of character because I never thought something like this needed to be addressed but writing doesn't always come so easily, especially when contending with a heavy work schedule and chronic health issues, you know? I appreciate you enjoying Laurent as a character. That's really nice, and you taking the time out of your day to send asks is lovely too but unfortunately there are periods where it's a struggle to function - at all - and there's too much pain to focus on writing clearly so thought it might be best to put things on the backburner until I was able to give you more well-written responses. I will consider your ask today as I'm finally off work for two days but I wish this had been worded differently as I want to answer but sometimes don't have the spoons or focus to do so when there's a bad flare-up that refuses to be managed easily. I trust you didn't send this ask out of malice but rather eagerness, but please be more understanding in future that for some people, writing is just a hobby they only have a few hours free for if they're lucky and have irl obligations that must come first.

Why are you gambling during the apocalypse

"Well, it seems like the only thing we can do right now...." Laurent said quietly. Gambling was... hell, it was pretty accurate, but it wasn't like real gambling where people bet hundreds or thousands of dollars at a time, was it? They just had pennies, small change that was barely enough to buy snacks at a vending machine - if they even accepted pennies, that was. Some didn't. "When we made a run for safety, we lost our books and a lot of other supplies. Not that books are much concern lately. We probably won't be going back to college again for a while, if there'll even be schools running once everything hopefully, uh, calms down. T-That doesn't leave us with much to do since it's way too dangerous to go outside still and the area is crawling with nasty fungus sooo... we pass the time playing games. W-We do help Musette and Placide out with maintaining camp but Carlos, Rana and I... we found poker to be a good distraction. It helps keep our minds off what happened, what we saw out there-" Laurent's words are suddenly cut off by Id blowing a big raspberrry, saliva flying across the room as it did so.

Just out of curiosity, but can I ask what you saw outside? Others say it was beautiful, and you have changed soooo.

"Would you laugh if I said I couldn't tell you?" Laurent said in a small voice. He didn't look very happy, shifting from side to side on his scaled haunches as his other head cackled. "It's not that I don't want to tell you, believe me, it's just... I don't actually recall much about the sky itself. I was kind of preoccupied with everything going on down in the street. People changing into monsters. People fusing with cars. My nose was still buried in a book when our bus to college started swerving like crazy but the driver managed to gain control and kicked us all out before we all got stuck inside him. He was turning into the bus." He scratches a scarlet cheek with a small claw, looking a tad upset. "All I noticed at the time was the sky glowing strangely, but before I could really look at it, we all had to make a run for it. Some of us... I still don't know what happened to them, but Rana, Carlos and I got called over by Musette and we all followed her with the others. As for what the sky looks like, Rana said the colours were like nothing she'd ever seen before. Carlos said it was stunning. I didn't even get to see how beautiful it supposedly is, damnit!"

Finally off work for a couple of days so I can catch up a bit on Laurent (as well as Spider and Morton) at last! You know what the craziest thing was though? A thought kept popping into my head that I should really take up a new muse (I REALLY don't) and guess who my brain kept telling me it should be? THIS GUY (if you know, you know) I kept laughing at work until my boss was concerned. Did not have the heart (or guts) to tell him why.

"T-That's... !!! True. Unfortunately true, but I have looked for something to wear, you gotta believe me! Carlos was really lucky as his hoodie changed to fit his upper body. He's kind of like a centaur if it was two rats and Rana... well, she's not exactly 'lucky' considering her worst fear is spiders but her hijab managed to survive. All my clothes got shredded when I transformed and... well, there's not a lot of options avaliable for man-sized backward-bodied lizards..."

-Tu glares coldly as she steps closer jabbing a knife in his direction making sure he stays far back enough against the wall- Yea yea likely story! What even are you? How did you even get in! The door was l locked- -she glanced to the door and saw it in pieces on the floor then looked back at Laurent and slammed a plate on the ground on frustration as it shattered on impact- Damit! Do you just break everyone’s doors!? Are you crazy or something!? And what friend! That thing on your back!?

Laurent winces again at the sound of a second plate breaking, glad it wasn't against his head this time although he had the sinking feeling that relief might not last long if this conversation went badly. Tu was still armed and understandably extremely pissed off whether or not she too had mutated like him. His eyes dart back and forth nervously, between the door he'd broken down and the knife gleaming in Tu's hands, the backpack of food still laying at her feet before glancing at the open doorway again. "I-I'm a student, or at least I was one before I looked up at the sky on my way to the college down the road! Some of my classmates... we didn't know what was happening and made a break for the nearest shelter. We ended up in the sewers, one of which was connected to this building. M-My name, i-it's Laurent..." He spoke quickly, his words coming out in a rapid jumble as he kept his eyes fastened on the knife levelled at him. A fight wasn't what he was after, even though his lizard half was literally chomping at the bit for some action, laughing stupidly as it drooled all over the wall. Fighting seemed like a bad idea. He no longer had food, let alone any medical supplies on hand. Could he run? Possibly, if Tu's vision and mobility had been compromised, but she'd managed to hit him with that plate so that seemed unlikely too. Pity it was then, that and the simple truth.

"I-I'm not crazy, or-or at least I don't think I am? This was the only door I've tried breaking down. All the other unlocked rooms have already been picked clean. The thing on my back, it's not my friend. I can't get it to shut up but, uh, I don't think it's dangerous? My friend was also a student at college. He stopped coming a while ago, but I found him here. He's stuck and can't leave where he is, and I don't know how to help-" Tu's vision starts getting blurry and Laurent realizes the stress of it all is catching up to him, the words falling out of his mouth faster than he can process his eyes are watering again. His lizard half starts to laugh again, except this time it's at it's other half. "WAHHH WAHHHH. WHAT A CRYBABY, HAHAHA."

-a woman in a purple hoodie and teeth growing alongside her face steps into view from the dark. her 3 other hands griping other kitchen items like a fork, knife, and another plate and she is scowling not enjoying the new company-

Laurent saw stars as the plate hit him directly in the head, fragments of china scattering across the floor as it exploded on impact. Scales or not, that hurt! His lizard half on the other hand cackled maniacally, drool spraying from it's open maw as it eyed up the angry newcomer still armed with plenty of ammunition.

"HOW NICE. I LOVE IT WHEN DINNER COMES WITH IT'S OWN DINING SET." Wincing as he rubbed the lump on his head, Laurent blinked away tears as peered up at the person who threw it. Definitely another Witness if those extra arms were a given as well as teeth that could put his lizard side to shame. Immediately he held up his arms in a placating gesture, turning around so that his snarling half was no longer facing her. "Ow! Hey hey, stop that! I'm sorry, just-! One sec, please!" His lizard half is still jeering, egging him on to fight until Laurent jabs it in their shared side a few times until at last it quietens down but it still continues licking it's fangs as Laurent slides back against the wall, hoping against hope that Tu doesn't chuck another plate at him or worse, comes at him with her knife and fork. Obediently he tosses the backpack, angling it so it lands at her feet. "I'm so sorry. I wasn't intending on robbing you or anyone! I-I thought this place had been abandoned. I was just trying to find some food for a friend, that's all." He finished in a quiet voice. @doodle-tu4ever

"Oh god, I hope not. Would be a little awkward trying to explain why I'm in their apartment grabbing their things and uh, tooth face artist? That... doesn't sound good." Laurent can't help but gulp, two sets of eyes quickly darting to every door, every large object where danger might be concealed. Unseen. Present. The lizard-like head also gulps but in anticipation of a meal. Laurent hadn't yet figured out how to control his dual sense of smell, if they happened to be old, fresh or was overwhelmed by everything else around him. Still, if somebody was still living here, maybe he should make his presence known? "HEY, DON'T MIND US. JUST GRABBING A SNACK OR TEN FOR THE ROAD." Laurent just about has a heart attack as the voice roars through the apartment. Why did his second head have to say the worst things at the worst times??
