The stupidest thing I've ever made that has no connection to pretty much anything I usually yap about here but my brain shat this out and now you all have to deal with it
What do you mean the old coffee table book I had as a kid about the real life history of Star Wars included a picture of Amy Irving in Carrie and chose the one where Sue is staring at Carrie in a very non-heterosexual way!?
"Sin" (also known as the barely disguised Carrie fan fiction that I've been writing for my creative writing course and decided to revert to its true form and share it on the internet)
Pretty much what the title says. I've been writing a short story called "Sin" for my college creative writing course that's heavily inspired by Carrie to the point that you could swap the character names with ones from Carrie, and it'd work just as well (if not better) and decided to share the first 1k words or so in fanfic form.
As a quick heads-up, in a lot of ways this is pretty much the story I would tell myself with the world and characters created by Mr. King so it might be best to go into it from the perspective of a loose-ish adaptation with varying levels of similarities and differences.
Oh, and also content warning for pretty much anything you'd expect of a Carrie story (ex. bullying, religious abuse by a parent, internalized misogyny etc.) with the fun addition of a good dose of homophobia and internalized homophobia!
"Sin"
Carrie hated the shower room after P.E. It was complete sensory overload between the water streaming from the shower heads and the shrill laughter of her classmates bouncing off the tiled walls. Not to mention that Momma had been very clear that she was forbidden to shower anywhere but at home.
Carrie loved the shower room after P.E. Rinsing the sweat and grime felt like getting to cleanse and center herself before dealing with what lay ahead for the rest of the day. She also couldn’t lie that there was a thrill to disobeying Momma’s orders, and she had to pray for forgiveness every night for these thoughts. Though that always seemed minor compared to the other thoughts she had in the locker room.
She knew what these girls were, or at least what Momma said they were: sinful temptresses and harlots. And yet, they were also so beautiful. For all the ugly things they said and did to her
(have been saying and doing ever since momma was forced to stop homeschooling me)
she couldn’t help noticing how beautiful they were. The way Sue’s long blonde hair bounced when they had to run laps, or how taut Tina’s muscles got during warm-up stretches.
She hated these thoughts. She loved these thoughts. They made her feel monstrous. They made her feel human. But she wasn’t supposed to be human.

The memory of Momma’s voice snapped her out of her reverie. The showers were shutting off one by one, and girls were stepping out in their towels, getting dressed and chattering amongst each other.
“If we get another pop quiz in Chem today, I’m fucked!”
“I swear Ms. Desjardin is trying to run us all into the ground with these hellish running drills!”
“The other day I was walking back home from school, and I made the mistake of walking by Scary White’s house. Her mother started screaming out the window about immodesty and that I was trying to tempt her daughter into becoming ‘a consort of Satan.’ I was wearing a fucking tank top!”

This was her best chance to rush to one of the showers without too much notice. She moved towards the nearest stall while making sure not to look at anyone
(and if thine eye offend thee pluck it out)
and listening carefully for the sound of running water to make sure she didn’t go into an occupied one.
She reached a quiet stall, opened the door to step in–
“What the hell is wrong with you! Get out!” The girl shrieked.
Carrie froze.
“I said get the fuck out of my stall you creep!”
The girl shoved Carrie out of the stall, and her back hit the wall. As she crumpled to the floor, she realized that the rest of the girls had heard the commotion and were moving towards her. Leading the herd, as always, was Chris Hargensen, her long

black hair that she had tied into a ponytail waving behind her.
“Holy shit.” Chris drawled. “Who would’ve ever thought that Pious, Pure, Saintly Carrie would try and sneak a peek at another girl’s tits.”
(he must be punishing me for my sinful thoughts)
“It actually totally makes sense.” the girl next to her responded. “There’s a bunch of religious nutcases who are secretly homos. So really, it’s no surprise that Margaret White’s daughter turned out to be a flaming lesbian.”
(for this cause god gave them up unto vile affections)
“Oh, god. I can’t believe we’ve been changing in the same room as her! I think I’m gonna puke!”
“Oh, grow the fuck up Chris!” a voice shouted from the herd of girls. Susan Snell emerged.
“Don’t tell me you’re really going to stand up for this pervert, Sue!”
“Well, no, but—”
“Of all people I expected at least my best friend would have my back!”
“If this was some loser freshman who obviously gets off on watching girls change I absolutely would! But even if Carrie’s gay

that doesn’t mean—"
“Alright, what’s the hold up?” Sue’s response was interrupted by Ms. Desjardin taking notice of the cacophony of chaos that had erupted in her locker room.
“Carrie!” Ms. Desjardin ran over to the trembling girl.
“Someone call Alison Bechdel because this school’s got two new Dykes to Watch Out For.” Chris muttered under her breath.
“Carrie, are you alright? What happened?”
“That little freak snuck into my stall to leer at my tits, so I gave her a little push.” A muffled voice came from the shower stall.
“Is that the truth, Carrie?” Ms. Desjardin asked.
“No.” Carrie squeaked. “I promise I didn’t realize it was still occupied.”
“In that case, I see no reason for you to remain in the stall, Ms. Blake. There’s about three minutes left until second period starts. So, I’d recommend using that precious time efficiently.”
Tina bolted out of the stall like a bat out of Hell as she ran to the other side of the room to join her friends and get dressed.
“This is total bullshit! You’re really gonna believe her over Tina!?” Chris screeched.
“I’d watch your tone if I were you Ms. Hargensen. You’re already going to be in enough trouble as it is.”
“Is that a threat?”
“Give it a rest, Chris.” Sue interrupted. “We’re already going to be late to Econ and the last thing I need is another lecture from Mr. Peterson.”
“Whatever. But this isn’t over. Not by a long shot.”
Once the rest of the shower room had emptied out, Ms. Desjardin helped Carrie get back on her feet.
“Let’s head down to the nurse’s office and make sure you weren’t too hurt by that fall.”
carrie 2013 was directed by kimberly peirce & written by riverdale creator roberto aguirre-sacasa, has lines like "you showered with those other girls. you had lust-filled thoughts", chloe grace moretz and julianne moore at the scene of the crime. but if i call it camp and gay and misunderstood queer cinema i get booed off stage.
i realize a lot of people (including myself) take issue with sue's limited role in '76 adaptation, but i also think that one of its unintentionally funniest byproducts is that rather than going to the school that night because she has a bad feeling/premonition/etc, her gay ass literally shows up just so she can make goo-goo eyes at Carrie from behind the stage lmao
