King Raven. I love the intelligence of ravens, and find their attraction to shiny objects rather endearing. I read the most lovely story recently of a little girl that had been feeding ravens around her home since she was three. They bring her presents as thanks for the snacks. First project of the semester. I've found that lately I'm really drawn to exercises that impose a limitation--perhaps it's because we're living with so many limitations at the moment that it feels familiar. I think, however, what can initally be seen as a barrier can lead to some really interesting solutions. For this project, I was only able to model with primitve shapes--cubes, spheres, cones, cylinders, and planes. Instead of focusing on the lack of possibilities, it was fun to look at what could be designed with more intention to create an interesting look while staying within the boundaries of what was available. I feel like our lives are rather like that at the moment.
