Okay I have no friends who watch Unstable SMP so Iām ranting on here.
After the most recent Spokeishere episode (Finding 1000 Missing Minecraft Players), everyone keeps saying that Spoke is now going to become a villain, and I think thatās a great idea! I think itād be interesting to see one of Unstableās MCs to go full-on villain, especially since Spoke has been sort of one for a long while now. As in, heās completely deluded himself into thinking that heās a protector while actively destroying the server and not caring about anyone other than Mapicc and IMajesticRoseās family. So maybe he becomes a villain and then finally realizes what heās been doing was wrong, but weāll get to that later.
I also think Spoke becoming a villain makes sense emotionally, because heās currently getting fucked over by his past mentor/friend/father figure/whatever Jamato. My take on their backstory is that Spoke already had a pretty bad track record (string theory!!!) before he befriended Jamato, and despite knowing this, Jamato still taught Spoke exploits, and instead of guiding Spoke to use them responsibly, Jamato ran from his responsibilities while telling Spoke he was a horrible person for the damage he had done with the exploits Jamato taught him. So itās likeā¦ yeah, Spoke is a bad person, but Jamato is the one who enabled him and is refusing to take the blame for it. Thatās just my interpretation.
And now Jamato is leading an army thatās kidnapping all of these ābad guys,ā and targeting Spoke. So Spoke becoming an all out villain despite Jamatoās attempts would be interesting, especially since Jamato manipulated Mapicc into hating him.
However, I saw one comment saying that Spoke should be the one to end the server/series because heās the one who did it in Lifesteal. Spoke was the one who ended almost every season of Lifesteal by destroying the server and essentially being the āvillainā (I think, I havenāt watched Lifesteal yet). That comment has been making me think of how Spokeās story should end. You remember the Stranger Things finale?
So, Eleven is introduced as this abused and hurt character, and throughout the show she and her friends are constantly attacked and never allowed to rest. In the last season, she gets the idea in her head that if she kills herself, her friends will finally be free of the torment theyāve been facing. And she did, she did die by her own hands. And fans hated it, because it gave off the impression that abuse victims should just. Die.
Obviously Eleven and Spoke are very different, but I really donāt want Spokeās arc to be that he realizes heās horrible, and then destroys himself/the server because he thinks itāll end all of the suffering. Instead, I think he should want to die, but be reassured, probably by Mapicc, that no, he should live. I believe this ties heavily back into Spokeās past arcs.
Spoke spared Ash, and ever since people have noticed that Spoke seems to be becoming more like him. Ash getting spared is deemed the morally correct choice by the story. So I think Spoke sparing Ash, becoming more like him, and then being spared like him would be a nice completed arc.
And then we also circle back to Jamato, who thinks that breaking Spoke down will end the chaos on the server, when itās already been proven that taking everything away from Spoke just makes him more destructive. Not to mention that if Ash was spared and the story treated it like the correct decision, why not Spoke?
Plus, Leo left that fake message that was supposed to lure Spoke into a trap, pretending it was for Jumper. In the message, Leo claims that during a time when Spoke disappeared (idk I kinda forgot this plot point), the chaos in the server had gone done. So I think itād be nice to see that message be refuted and for Spoke to remember that Leo was a desperate liar whoād do anything to hurt him. Idk, Iām just ranting :P
