make oc playlists. spend hours on moodboards that have no purpose. write self-indulgent fluff that’s never going to be published. scribble three lines of poetry in the back of your history notebook. draw fanart of your own characters. write stupid dialogue that your publishers might hate. start new wips that you might never finish but write those three chapters that make you happy because if you don’t write them, who else will?

writing shouldn’t always be about “will publishers like this” or “i have to reach this word count” or “how do i get the most likes”.

This month I’ve decided to participate in an event called “October,” where for every day in October I’m going to experience a day in October.

Here’s the prompt list I’m using in case anyone wants to join me in this challenge:

Next month I’m thinking of trying out the “No November November” challenge, where I’ll refrain from experiencing November for the whole month of November.

Important reminders as this post is picking up speed again:

1) You laughed because it was a joke, it’s not mysterious.

2) I don’t care if your birthday is in November

3) The October challenge is fundamentally incompatible with other x-tober challenges. You can’t do this one if you’re doing a different one, too. You have to channel your energy into really experiencing the monthliness of October, and other challenges would be too distracting.

4) No November November is not about going into a coma or otherwise skipping the month of November. It’s about not experiencing the existential CONCEPT of November. November is happening around you, but you are above it, and you want no part of it. November has no power over you.

5) The December challenge is just seasonal depression.

TO THOSE MAKING NATIVE OCS

I see this a lot, no one has actual names, or any reference for names, that are legit Native American, varying among the tribes, for their characters.

Babynames.com and shit like that will give you names made up by white people.

However, I’ve got your solution.

Native-Languages  is a good website to turn to for knowledge on a lot of native things, including native names. If you’re unsure about the names you’ve picked, they even have a list of made up names here!

Please don’t trust names like babynames.com for native names, they’re made up and often quite offensive to the cultures themselves.
