I love asking people how their parents met. You always get an interesting reply. My best friendās parents met on the relatively new internet in 1999. My other friendās parents met at Burger King when one was the manager and the other was a regular customer. My parents met at the beach because they were neighbors in their rental houses, mom was on a church trip and dad was getting blackout drunk every night with his friends next door.
Tell me how your parents met in the tags.
Feeling normal.
need to beam this tweet directly into everyone's minds right now
actually the real risk with being companionless/covenless as a vampire isn't soul-crushing loneliness it's the fact that isolated vampires just start doing anything. four grown ass men got divorced last season and the second they live alone lestat starts a middling soundcloud career, louis starts stalking some poor waitress, daniel becomes a bowling fanatic, and armand is in fucking ohio
Rest in peace Sam šļø 1947-2026

This is a spot from an italian estate agency (we are governed by the right-wing party)
The woman says "Ridiculous..."
If you want to spread it elsewhere, here's the official link
[Video Description: An ad with piano music over it all, showing an elderly woman in her home, knitting, when two younger men walk by her window, which catches her attention. She stares out her window at them as they kiss each other while walking, the old lady staring in disbelief. Cut to the old woman approaching a residence with a broom in hand, staring up at the second floor window where a small rainbow Pride flag is hanging. The old woman stares up at it and mutters "Ridiculo", before getting up on a ladder with her broom to remove the flag. Focus on the flag fluttering to the ground as church bells chime. The scene then cuts to the couple from before, approaching their home with grocery bags in hand before one stops and stares at the second floor, stopping his partner who then drops the groceries as he too stares up. It's then revealed that the small pride flag had been replaced with a gigantic, hand-knit pride flag. It then cuts back to the old woman's home, where a tin of rainbow-colored yarn sits on her table. The hands of the old woman are holding and fondly touching an old black and white photo of two young smiling women, leaning against each other. Cut to the old woman's face as she stares out with a look of happy pride on her face. At the end of the video, the name "Idealista" appears on screen, followed by "buon pride" along with a rainbow. End VD.]
One correction:
The old lady is not in her home. She is at work. She's meant to be what in Italian is called "la portinaia", aka a cross between a doorwoman and cleaner of a residential building. She's in her small "office" space, at the entrance of the building, from where she can survey the coming and goings of the inhabitants. It's a job that has mostly disappeared, but is culturally very clear to us as having the connotation of "potentially gossipy, one-million-percent judgmental woman who sees everything that goes on in the apartment complex, knows everyone and their secrets, and has Strong Opinionsā¢ļø".
In this case, thankfully, the Strong Opinionā¢ļø is that those two men are ridiculous with their teeny tiny flag for ants.
amc's iwtv is queer bait but not really because they get you hooked with the truly excellent hot gay sex in episode 1 and then eventually you find yourself watching multiple scenes of vampires pissing blood & wondering how you got here and you're like right, it was the floating gay vampire sex, nvm
It's bait for queers
You know when there's like, a straight show and everyone's like "it's full of queer subtext between the main straight dudes, and this character is obviously autistic and they really meant to say trans rights"? And then there's a queer show and all of a sudden it's "no but they weren't sensitive about this character's trauma and the queer sex scenes are too short and they're all problematic as fuck, i can't even watch"? And then our shit doesn't get renewed, and we hated on it the whole way for not embodying the perfection we'd never dream of demanding from the straight show?
Yeah, something like that

reaching out for assistance: TL:DR BELOW
so you may or may not know that my partner Benny had an incredibly traumatic injury in august of last year. heās been doing SO incredibly well since then but unfortunately has another surgery coming up to address some ~healing that hasnāt quite met the surgeons satisfaction.
(when he came home from hosp the first time we were both pretty much in āsurvive survive keep goingā mode)
point being, we are both stuck in a bit of a hurry up and wait moment, and my therapist has suggested we frame this time as an opportunity to get things in place to help future us.
so, if you or a loved one has had a big surgery - do you have any tips for things youāve prepped prior that have helped out OR are there any things you wish you did that may have helped you be more comfortable the first few days after?
TL:DR:
- asking for suggestions for pre surgery home/wellbeing prep eg. prepping meals for the first few days after surgery etc.
- this is a leg surgery so issues are like, mobility, easy access to parts of the home, etc.
- any suggestions welcomed even if you think itās something obvious!
Hello! So sorry your partner is dealing with this. I broke my leg in April, and when I say I broke it, I mean, I kind of exploded it a little. I fell out of my window while trying to hang some curtains and fractured both sides of my tibia where it meets my knee. Two surgeries, two metal plates, and fourteen screws laterā¦hereās what Iād have prepped and ready if I had to do it all over again with the benefit of hindsight:
- You can never have too many of those reach extension grabber things. My mom used command hooks to mount one on my wall and I thought she was insane right until I needed it.
- Worth it to invest in a shower chair/stool that has adjustable legs. Not just for shower reasons. I used it to get down my front steps while I was non weight bearing and later used it to help put my shoes on when reaching the foot on my injured leg was a challenge and once used it to get myself off the floor when I landed on my ass (whoops).
- If anyone asks how they can help, gently suggest they get you a doordash or instacart gift card. Meal trains areā¦hit or miss. People mean well but I was way more grateful to have the delivery credit.
- Take pictures of every set of stairs your partner may have to deal with when they come home so you can show it to medical professionals and any Occupational Therapists or Physical Therapists they may get to work with. It was always MUCH more helpful when I could show them exactly what I was worried about instead of trying to describe it while high as a kite.
- You canāt own too many ice packs, especially the big soft ones. I bought so many and basically kept them in rotation for when I needed them, huge help, and the ones with the soft fizzy sides that go against your skin just feel nice when your leg is all āwtf did you doā soā¦
- Recommend getting one of those sort of shower caddy things that freshmen going to college buy to tote to the showers and putting all their bathroom stuff in there if they canāt reach the full bath while recovering.
-If your partner is going to be using a walker while in recovery, get a basket that can attach to it. Or, if theyāre using crutches, find a tote bag they can comfortably carry while using the crutches. Itāll help them do some things for themselves (which for me was key to maintaining my sanity) while also limiting them safely likeādonāt get any big ideas, you can only carry what can fit in the tote.
- The hospital will give you some grippy socks but I bought a pack of like, six, for cheap that I think are meant for bougie women doing pilates but helped me maintain my footing.
