I don’t know if this is still an argument happening but… I’m gonna throw my two cents in. I’ve seen a lot of people say that it’s gross to ship Nezha with anyone because he’s an eternal child. Well, it’s complicated.
What a lot of people forget is that since Nezha is from Chinese mythology, he’s a really old character. Which means there’s a lot of versions on him. JTTW was also mashing up a few different religions in its narrative. While Nezha is almost always said to be a protector of children, he’s not always depicted as a child himself. There are a lot of credible sources that show him as both a child and an adult so there isn’t one depiction that is more accurate than the other. It kinda depends on the version that you’re working with. In the original JTTW, Nezha is cited as being an eternal child, noted as looking and acting like a 12 year old.
However, LMK doesn’t seem to go that route. Nezha reads to me as a young adult who takes himself too seriously. Nezha in LMK has no indication of his age and acts/ looks very much like an adult. Which is why I treat him as such in my writing on this blog. Because I’m working with the LMK version.
Child characters like Bai He are noticeably shorter and have a different voice tone than the adult characters. Nezha has none of those indicators as far as I’ve seen.
To add to this,the eternal child is based on nothing,they are nothing from any Chinese sources that confirms that myth or fact,so people who say that are spreading misinformation.

A fact that I never thought about until now, and funny enough I hadn't noticed. Is that, if you accompany the pilgrims on their Journey to the West, and I'm referring specifically to the moment where you've already formed a bond of respect and affection between Bajie, Sandy and clearly Wukong
(I'm not including Tripitaka because it's not difficult to bond with him from my perspective)
It doesn't matter where you are, what village you rest in, how strong the enemy was, or, in special circumstances, how angry you are with Wukong.
The Monkey King is never, ever far enough away from you for someone to hurt you, and I mean he will always save you Even faster than he would save Tripitaka. I can imagine this scene perfectly
*Wukong with Y/N in his arms after having saved her from a demon*: *Poker Face*.
Demon: *shivers and shivers* I thought the monkey was far away.
Bajie: Ha!, fool *mocking laughter*
Sandy: The monkey brother is NEVER far from our lady, ever.
Demon: *shivers*
Wukong: Don't pray to God because it's me In . . . . .
conclusion: Wukong would be your shadow, your guardian and your impenetrable shield as long as you exist on the face of the earth.

Undivided attention
Reblogging for day crew but I wanted to add my favorite details about this in no particular order
1. 13th panel Mk babbling "aaee... buh" was meant to be him mimicking the sound of "hey bud". A greeting he'd hear often
2. 2nd to last panel, when mk has his hands on Wukongs face, his fingers tug on the bags under his eyes
3. I particularly love how in the last panel Mk's snuggled up right next to the heart patch on Wukongs chest. The symbolism speaks for itself.
4. The dialogue: "What makes you think I know what you need?" When all that was needed was for him to be there. A theme very prevalent in their dynamic. A constant underlying confusion on what to do as a guardian and mentor when all that was needed was his presence and support. In which he still struggles with constantly.
5. In the last panel, Wukong is re-reading his own lore as shown by the stone he was born from and Flower Fruit Mountain, potentially to gain a better understanding of how to care for Mk.
Ehehehehehehe-
The best part is that this is pretty much canon, considering MK ain't takin' any form of disrespect towards the Reader lightly lmao- No mercy for teammates either-

Summary of the Story/Why
This Fanfic centers around Daiyu, a devotee of Xiwangmu, the Queen Mother of the West. At Guanyin's request, Xiwangmu sends Daiyu with Tripitaka since Daiyu is well versed in magic. Due to backstory reasons that I won't spoil, Daiyu has a tendency to be rather standoffish and pessimistic. Over the course of the Journey, she needs to learn to learn to trust her companions and to see the world in a new way.
So, why am I writing this?
Well, One, I just like Journey to the West and fanfic is fun. Two, given the symbolism that goes along with it, I want to explore the struggles and stuff that come from healing from trauma. I like JTTW but as I'm not Buddhist, the whole journey to enlightenment isn't exactly as impactful or personal to me so rather than focusing on Tripitaka and that bit, I'm choosing to add a character that I relate to more. So, rather than a journey to enlightenment, from this perspective, it becomes a journey to healing from trauma. I find exploring trauma in a fictional setting can be cathartic.
Hey, so not technically LMK but it is JTTW based so I thought I’d post it here. I’m writing a long form fanfic for JTTW if anyone is interested. He tries not to act like it but he is just as much of a sucker for this shit as you are, so when he finds out you like the same sappy romance he does, he is quietly so hyped.
When I tell you that this man pulls out all the stops, I am not kidding. You are not wrong when you assume he’d be super over the top, partially because he’s a theater kid but also in part because he does at times feel like he’s unworthy of you and feels the need to prove to himself and you that he is good to you. (He is but he feels insecure about it because he knows he can be angsty and difficult sometimes.)
Definitely reads and recites really flowery, romantic poetry to you. Especially when you two are cuddling or dancing.
He plans dates meticulously from the activity, the music, location and even the timing. His personal favorites are taking you somewhere quiet with an amazing view and just spending time with you.
Will smack the shit out of anyone who tries teasing him about ‘going soft’ for you and get pissed because he’s just offended that they’d imply that him loving you is embarrassing. Like, ‘shut up, you dumbass. I love my partner’.
may I request a silly little one shot where the reader tells their friends they gonna cut their long hair short and MK and Mei take a minute to dramatically say their goodbyes to the reader’s long, lovely locks? And the reader’s just sitting there mostly unfazed until Wukong overhears and bursts in like “You’re gonna what?!” and they know he’s gonna do the same thing. Pigsy’s on he sidelines just watching on like wth is happening?
During one of your daily chatting with the gang at Pigsy’s after work. Unfortunately, this casual chatting turned into straight chaos as soon as something that was meant to be an off handed comment came out of your mouth.
“I’ve been thinking of cutting my hair…”
“What?!” Mei screeched. She started dramatically weeping and petting your long hair. “Your poor, beautiful hair!”
“R.I.P.” MK whispered softly. Then to make a dramatic situation even more loud, Wukong, who hadn’t even been in the building for this whole conversation, slammed the door open.
“You’re gonna WHAT?!” He shouted. Wukong launches himself across the room and tackles you, knocking your chair over and subsequently sending you and Mei sprawling to the floor with him. Between his and Mei’s dramatic crying about you ‘chopping off your gorgeous hair’ as they put it, you looked almost as confused as Pigsy.
“Wukong, how long have you been outside?” You asked since he wasn’t inside a second ago but had clearly heard enough about your haircut to have a reaction.
“Don’t ask questions and answer mine!” He said as he shook his head. “Why would you do this?”
“Calm down and-” You start only to get cut off by Pigsy finally coming out of his confusion and shouting.
“GET OFF MY FLOOR AND STOP WRECKING MY SHOP!!!”

Red Son tries to court MK by kidnapping him (because demon courting) and he takes MK to his workshop and he’s all like:
“NYOODLE BOY! I have courtnapped you!” And MK looks at him all confused like “Uhm?? Why not just ask me on a date???” And Red Son just stands there blinking in confusion for a second and then just deadpans
“What the fuck is a date”
I feel like the demon boys all have some sort of disconnect about how human currency works.
Red Son just grew up with a ridiculous amount of money so has no scale for when things are stupidly expensive because he can usually afford it anyway.
Sun Wukong thinks giving green strips of paper value is stupid and finds nothing wrong with just taking what he needs and steals shit despite also having a ridiculous amount of money that he literally never uses. All of his money is in gold coins and old currency so it might be more hassle than it’s worth.
Macaque is the only one of these three who isn’t stupidly wealthy so he has more of a grasp on how money works and what’s reasonable to spend on things. Still thinks that putting value on something as flimsy as paper is pretty dumb but accepts it. Won’t haggle for things at a market ever. A huge pick pocket and will steal things from rude people out of spite.

hey may i request Sun Wukong with reader (gn +platonicly) that follows him around and want to hear his stories/how was his day and pretty much say almost nothing themselves till the point of bothering him withput meaning to ?
Honestly, it would be near impossible to annoy him like this. He loves telling stories though he will get suspicious if you refuse to answer any questions he has about yourself and might try to distance himself from you. If you just express that you feel uncomfortable or awkward about talking about yourself, he'll understand with some explaining and probably launch into another story. He'll make stuff up if he runs out of stories for whatever reason.
