Challenge - "The bar on the 25th floor", results.
As I wrote before, I "fit in" to participate in the January challenge from a colleague on the shop floor - @alexashka678 So, I'll finally summarize the results.. (I know I'm late.)
A challenge is the commission of an action and the involvement of other people in its repetition. Challenge is translated from English as "challenge" or "challenge". More often, challenges are held on social networks in photo and video format.
In my case, it's a daily climb up the stairs to the 24th floor and a bar. I don't like the bar very much, so I started with the minimum and just added 1-2 seconds every day.
To be honest, I didn't believe that there would be an effect for me from participating. Because I didn't think that a daily report to other participants, who in fact are people I don't know, would be able to motivate me.
Moreover, they did not believe that they would be able to hold out for the entire challenge. The tasks themselves weren't difficult for me, but doing them EVERY day seemed difficult. There has always been a difficulty with regularity... If an action, even a simple one, is done without pleasure, it becomes boring and the brain quickly begins to come up with reasons and excuses.
Inspiration after the start.
Immediately after the start, the participants were visibly inspired. Everyone was actively communicating, posting memes, etc. I'm no exception. He started a day earlier, and began actively agitating people in his inner circle to join the challenge. (Not immediately, but over time, by the way, I even joined a couple of people.) I started posting small tips to the group and doing it daily, which eventually turned into a separate "category" from me.
And although I didn't declare it as a commitment, I felt it that way - the advice of the day should be on a daily basis. And this is a clear indicator that no matter what we think, the community influences us.
Naturally, the initial enthusiasm quickly subsided. Some problems, daily worries quickly take away the focus of attention. And it quickly became clear that doing the tasks in the challenge itself is not difficult, but it is difficult to do it every day, no matter what.
The first truants appeared. Moreover, if some had objective reasons for skipping, then some of the reasons clearly looked like excuses. Moreover, most likely, his reasons seemed really serious to the person, but from the outside it looked "so-so".
I think, personally, it's useful for me to participate in something like this sometimes. This is diversity, some kind of social communication, a tool to achieve something, definitely improves discipline. Maybe it doesn't work for someone, but you won't know until you try.
Also, when you do seemingly simple things, but persistently and disciplinedly every day and see progress, it suggests that everything in life works that way. And not only in sports. We greatly underestimate the power of small, but daily efforts in one direction.
By the way, the daily bar has remained in my habits. At the time of writing this post, it has been 40+ days without a break. It doesn't seem necessary, but it doesn't seem difficult to spend a couple of minutes.
